Try that button mashing on the hardest difficulty and you wont get very far. The characters acctually look a lot more realistic in Soul Calibur then they do in MKDA. So I don't really see how that can be used as an argument, but I do agree that I don't wanna see MK looking and playing like SC.

nope
i meant soul calibur

i've played it a few times on the gamecube and couldn't stand it

just a bunch of button mashing to win the fights. the game is so easy and the fighting is so lame and everyone looks like a cartoon.

maybe thats just how it looks on the gamecube

Soul Calibur didn't need to evolve it's accepted by most fighting game enthusiasts that SC1 was a near flawless fighting in all areas. SC2 just enhanced the graphics and tweaked the gameplay. There was no need to evolve into anything else. MK on the other hand well no one wants to play a 2d fighter where every fighter has identical basic moves anymore. MK needs to evolve or it will die.

Let me say this: I like both series, but I prefer MK because they add new stuff to the gameplay experience in one form or another. SC2 was a great fighter, but it lacked evolution and some other things. I'm not saying that MK: DA is the better fighter of the 2, nor I'm saying that SC2 is the better fighter of the 2. I wouldn't want MK to be more like SC because then, it would lose it's originality.

i always liked mk

the 1st, second was better, 3rd, and so forth, mk has always been a great fighting game.

i likede streetfighter as well.

i never really liked the other ones, they where lacking originality.

like soul caliber is tekken with weopns and diff gameplay, like DOA, and virtual fighter, they are all pretty boring.

just punches and kicks, no moves, no fireballs, no projectiles, nothing fun.

streetfighter was fun, mk was fun, and mk had fatalities which made it ten times more fun than street fighter when defeating ur freind.
Soul Calibur is better as far as game play goes.
I actually like it much better than MKDA.

What I like about MKDA is the look and feel, the sound FX and the special moves.

MKDA game play is too limited for my taste to compare to SC or SC2.

I never care for the storylines, or fatalities.
what I look for in a game is the actual fighting.

My current list of Favorite Fighting games looks like this.

1) SC2, Tekken 4, VF4 = Because they are hard, and they are very Free.

2) MKDA = It’s hard, looks awesome, but feels too stiff and simple because of a lack of moves.

3) DOA3 = If DOA wasn't so easy to beat, I would like it better than MKDA because the fighting is so free. It's just the reversals that kill it for me.

The problem with this forum is. . there are too many people willing to die for a false cause. I can understand such strong following for MK but to rule out everything in the like as if MK is supreme is silly.

Soul Calibur isn't Tekken with weapons, if anything Mortal Kombat is Soulblade with weapons.

ok... I love Mortal Kombat and everything.. but it doesn't even compare to the awesomeness of Soul Calibur. SC 1 and 2 are the most complex fighting games I've ever played. And the characters, graphics and game modes are awesome.

Yes.. you CAN button mash and still win. But if you would take the time to learn how the game works and develop some skill you'd notices that there are countless moves and combos for each character and the gameplay is MUCH more complex than ANY MK game to date.
