Now, before I start, nobody get their hopes up. I'm well aware that after the whole Kane and Lynch fiasco a few months ago, there were reports that Midway had banned EGM from covering their games. So, this is pretty much based on the (unlikely) assumption that either those reports were untrue, or Midway has smoothed things over by now. So, once more, this is unlikely; don't get too excited.

That said, I just got the newest issue of EGM (the one with SOCOM as the cover story). In the back, with the "preview", for the next issue, it mentions that they'll be covering a few games that haven't got much buzz. But what caught my eye was this excerpt:

"The meaty main dish is a monstrous revival of an arcade classic. You might want to bring a splash guard for this one, folks."

I dunno about you, but to me, that screams MK. Any other thoughts/possibilities on this?

If it's monstrous and you need a splash guard....then they probably mean blood.....it's probably Mortal Kombat, but I won't get my hopes up....they need get into an argument....

hmmm, I'm not sure honestly since Midway banned EGM to review. However, they can of course speculate and discuss MK8 right?

So, I wouldn't be surprised I'll check it out even though I'm too fond of EGM overall. I prefer GP and GI.

I believe Midway will make a Next-Gen Primal Rage(Not a crossover). But MK would fit the description as well.

I was thinking the same thing and made a similar post on gamefaqs, I also think if true, they are hinting its a remake of part 1.

Speaking of the Next-Gen Primal Rage, I also want to see a next-gen Rampage. Maybe Midway could remake all their old games. Joust too.

It could be MK in the next EGM magazine.

Midway should make a crossover game with Primal Rage and Rampage.

Well, thats not really the topic, I shouldn't have brought it up. But..................Rampage isn't really a vs. Fighting game. I don't think it would be a good idea.

Basically, a reviewer thought, like most people, that Kane and Lynch sucked big floppy donkey dick. So he gave a fair review of it. Unfortunately he got fired for telling the truth. And because Eidos had paid Gamespot for positive coverage of the game.

After this scandal, 1UP/EGM announced that: Ubisoft, Sony's sport games developers and the Mortal Kombat team would not give them any exclusives because they were so negative about some of their recent games. (Assassin's Creed apparently for Ubisoft.)

I personally think it might be Golden Axe and not Mortal Kombat 8.

egm has went on record sayin mk will never get another cover story or big mention in their mag.

they have always treated mk like shit, and always will.

the last egm mag i ever read was a few years back, when they reviewed mkda..i remember one of the comments "johnny cages bike kick looks ridiculas.." i was like wtf, he doesnt have a bike kick you idiot. they gave it a pissy score along with the general "same old mk blah blah" comments. after that, i never read egm again.

it maybe....just maybe might get a break in it, but i doubt it.

I would agree that it's MK except for the fact that it mentions "revival". MK hasn't been gone long enough to call it a revival. Even if you make it into an arcade revival, it still doesn't fit MK since the series has been going strong long after it's arcade releases came to an end and there's no way a new MK is hitting arcades.

Golden Axe, Killer Instinct and a multitude of other titles fit this description better than MK. In addition, it would be an extremely tight deadline for EGM to get info from a 4/17 event in next month's issue.

It won't be MK, i don't see EGM getting excited of MK, but i could see where revival would fit MK. Afterall, Boon said they were starting from scratch and rebuilding everything.

Exactly, just like all their reviews(which suck most of the time) they show that uncanny, ridiculous bias for games one way or another......if you guys read GI or GP then compared it to EGM you'll notice the difference. EGM is also soo fucking pro-PS it's pathetic but since PS3 sucks for the most part thus far, they can't say shit... lol

Yeah man, they're idiots when it comes to MK they know nothing about it,never did, never will and their ignorant, arrogant views on the MK series has always been hilarious and an utter joke overall. They also gave VF5 a perfect 10 lol now come on, I respect VF and other fighters but no other review felt it was a "perfect" 10...please. Sorry, no fighting game is that great not to mention the online sucks for it and you can't even use all the characters..., yet they were bragging about it lol megalame.

EGM might be referring to the new Samuri Showdown that is coming out. It is "VERY" gory. There is a trailer for it on gametrailers.com. check out the dismemberment at the end of it.
