In this contest, I'll post a character every week, and you may enter by writing a bio and ending for the character, fitting within the MKA timeline. The main reason why I'm doing this is because of all of the outcries about not having bios, and I also wanted to give MKO's best writers a chance to show what they can do. Here are the rules:
1- Your bio and ending have to be feasbile. Meaning, nothing completely ridiculous, like "Mokap takes over Outworld" because we all know that would never happen.
2- Keep in mind that in creating your bio and ending, you want to avoid creating more plotholes. This will help you during judging.
3- If you're going to get into something that might not be so obvious between MKD and MKA (say, how Sheeva is even in MKA), make sure to go into detail as to how it happened, that way you're not creating a plothole. Also, when you create your bio, be sure to include the character's alignment, allies, and enemies.
4- You aren't limited to writing a certain way in creating your ending. You can do it FMV style, with dialogue, or you can write it MKDA-MKD style, with pictures (including a descrption of the pictures) and what the narrator describes as the ending. Do it whatever way you choose, whatever works best for you.
5- The time setup is as follows:
Wednesday-Sunday: Submission of Entries
Monday: Judging and Voting
Tuesday: Winners Revealed
6- Voting will be done in EACH category; you vote for the best bio and the best ending separately. The winners in each category will receive 2 DPs, second place will get 1 DP (Sub-Zero_7th will be handling this). If you enter, you are eligible to vote, just not for yourself.
7- Once we're all done, there will be one final vote, asking which author did the best job overall, and the winner will get 5 DPs.
Let the creative genius begin.
We're going to kick things off with the main protagonist, Liu Kang.

I am what is left of the Champion of Mortal Kombat. The events succeeding the creation of the Deadly Alliance are what tore me into two beings and since then, I have longed to find my other half so we may reunite, but my other self has a different agenda...
Since our separation, my other self had fallen under the command of Onaga and slaughtered countless beings across the realms but has since acted on his own. He is a beast driven purely by the instinct to avenge our death. He may seek out Shang Tsung, but this is our only common objective. Whilst I am virtually powerless to stop him myself, my former allies have volunteered their services and wish to help, but they can only do so much. This is when I turned to the beings who could help direct me to his location, beings that have the might of my allies combined, they are a combination of souls reffered to as Ermac.
My other self relies on its primal instinct, and given the power surrounding the recent events that occured in Edenia, I would say it is heading there. This 'pyramid' will be where Ermac and I can face it. I have spoken to Raiden who has seen glimpses of the future. He claims that if it is allowed to challenge whatever being is at the top then triumphs, the reign of tyranny will be worse than ever.
For battles, Spirit Liu needs some form of husk or shell until he can reunite with his other self. Either Ermac can provide one for him somehow using one of the many souls he is made up of, or Liu's soul can take over Ermac temporarily. I think the best solution would be for a Shoalin Monk to offer his services. Zombie Liu can just fight as himself.
(The Final Battle is pretty much the same as the overall ending)
Battle 1; As Spirit Liu-against anyone that is not likely to win i.e. Kobra or Hsu Hao (no offense to those characters :P)
Battle 2; As Spirit Liu-Against anyone that still is unlikely to win i.e. Hotaru or maybe Ashrah, who may wish to slay Ermac. (Basically an enemy of Ermac)
Battle 3 ;As Spirit Liu-Against Havik; the one who is now nuturing the Zombie version of Liu Kang's thirst for battle
Battle 4; As Spirit Liu-Against a strong ally, to show that not only is the competition harder, but certain friendships may be broken too. i.e. Johnny Cage, Sonya, Sub-Zero
Battle 5; Kung Lao-We open the scene with Kung Lao walking through the pyramid. He is in a fighting position as he is weary of his surroundings. He hears the clanging of metal then looks behind him to see a hook on a chain coming towards him. He flings his hat and it deflects the hook and chain. Zombie Liu Kang jumps down and growls at him. Kung Lao is shocked at what he is seeing but knows what he must do. You fight as Zombie Liu Kang. It is a decisive finish to the battle. Kung Lao snaps Liu's already broken neck, but Liu merely stares and spits blood on him. He sends a final fireball to him which knocks him to the ground. Kung Lao has been knocked out and Liu Kang is about to do a fatality when a gust of wind picks Kung Lao up and out to safety. Liu Kang looks up in anger and confusion to see Fujin's glowing white eyes staring back at him. He sends the gust of wind towards Liu who promptly dives out of its way. FIGHT!
Battle 6; Fujin-After a long battle, we see Fujin holding Liu Kang up with another gust of wind. Fujin shouts "This is the end of your rampage! Soon you shall be reunited with your former self that will end the monster you have become." Just then a red skull ball flies straight for Fujin. He ceases to hold up Liu Kang and focuses his energy on blocking the fire. The floor and walls surrounding begin to crumble and we can see that they are close to the top of the pyramid. Kung Lao's unconscious body begins to slip towards the edge. Fujin is unsure of what he should do, save Kung Lao or stop the man in the shadows. The man laughs exclaiming; "You God's! All that power yet such a ridiculous weakness." He walks out and shows himself to be Shang Tsung. Liu Kang growls at Shang Tsung. "You!" says Shang Tsung. Liu Kang fires at Shang Tsung, who has no option but to move, thus stopping his fire attack. Fujin takes this opportunity and sees Kung Lao slip off the edge. Fujin dives out and rescues Kung Lao just before he lands on one of the lower levels of the pyramid. There, he sees Eramc and the Spirit of Liu Kang. He explains to them that the Zombie Liu Kang is near the top and that they need to hurry.
Battle 7; Shang Tsung-The Spirit of Liu Kang and Ermac quickly make it to where Liu Kang and Shang Tsung are about to fight. Shang Tsung is delighted to see two warriors made from souls; the very thing he can manipulate. He easily sends both Liu Kang and Ermac to the wall in the background. They are unable to move, and we see the Zombie Liu Kang slowly turn and hiss at the Spirit and Ermac. He looks as though he is going to strike, but as he gets nearer and nearer to Liu Kang struggling, he sees him as a part of himself. The two warriors had escaped death and now relied on the Zombie version of Liu Kang to defeat Shang Tsung, or they would all be killed. The Zombie version of Liu Kang and Shang Tsung have a long hard 4 round battle. If Shang Tsung wins, we see him manipulate Ermacs souls and Liu Kang's soul into doing fatalitys on each other, then proceeds to do a fatality on the Zombie version. As players, we are given the option to continue or quit :P. Should you press continue, you redo the match, and once you win, the Zombie Liu Kang does his fatality on Shang Tsung, preferably by using his chains to cut him open. In terms of killing off characters, this would be cannon in my opinion. The Zombie version of Liu Kang has been through 3 very tough battles with strong opponents. He is too weak to carry on. This is the point where Ermac transports Liu Kang's soul back into the Zombie version of Liu Kang, and the champion of Mortal Kombat is reborn. As other characters gradually reach the top, Liu Kang and Ermac bid a hopefully temporary farewell, and Liu Kang gives him his thanks. They separate; Ermac is to guard this room and defeat as many kombatants that he can, in order to clear a path for Liu Kang to go on. All the visions and 'memories/thoughts' of the Zombie Liu Kang entered Liu Kang's mind and he understood that Blaze was to be defeated, and he was the one to do it. Anyone else could exploit their power if they defeated Blaze instead. He marched on bravely to the top.
Battle 8; Blaze-Blaze is a tough opponent to beat. Even as Liu Kang steps closer, we see Blaze crushing other kombatants that may have been considered worthy fighters. At least they were once. Liu was still determined to win but stuggled throughout the match. Eventually he sees a few weaknesses in Blazes actions and does everything in his power to exploit them. Other kombatants continue to climb up, so Blaze occaionally becomes distracted with those fighters. Some could be Raiden adn Fujin floating up to offer some assistance for when Liu Kang is close to dying. By the end, the mighty Blaze falls from the pyramid, and the clouds that once loomed over Edenia were gone. The fighters all stopped and took a moment to look at their Armageddon. After looking at the dead bodies, they all stare upwards to see Liu Kang. He rips off his chains; a symbol to show that he is now free, as is Edenia. Little did Liu Kang, or anyone for that matter know that he still had not completed the final battle. This battle didn't apply to just anyone, but to Liu Kang especially. He watches a figure marching towards him. It was not Kahn, nor Onaga, nor any of their minions. It was Lord Raiden.
Final Battle; Liu Kang was confused, as were most others, but now that he had proved his worth to the Elder God's it was time to put this skill to the test. Raiden was once elevated to Protector of Earth after his battle with Shinnok. The difference was that Raiden was not an evil God like Shinnok. Some refered to him as "Dark Raiden" since his sacrifice upon Onaga's return, but this was not relevant. He carried out his duty as Protector of Earthrealm and Thunder God, but took a more practical approach. Liu Kang had not jeopardised Earthrealm, hence the question; Why is Raiden preparing for a fight? When Raiden asked himself the same question all those years ago when he had to fight Shinnok, the answer was easy; Shinnok was a traitor, yet what he did not know until afterwards was that since Raiden's apprenticeship began, there would always be that final test of loyalty, given to those who deserve the position. Even a God's reign must come to an end. Raiden has chosen Liu Kang to be his successor IF and only if he is able to fight Raiden to the death in Mortal Kombat. Raiden had once been torn by this inevitable battle, but expressed to Liu Kang that he was happy to teach him, saying "If it had to be any mortal, I am glad it could be you Liu Kang." Liu Kang had never prepared for this day, but it is one of the sacred rules when one is fighting for Godlike strength. It is neither kombatants choice, but the choice of the Elder God's, and both Raiden and Liu Kang are wise enough to understand that. They do not know what will happen, nor do the allies of Liu Kang and Raiden, who have fought beside them since Liu Kang's first victory. Before they begin, Raiden and Liu Kang bid a respectful farewell as they know one of them must die.
(Liu Kang was Raiden's 3rd choice kombatant to take his place as Protector of Earth. The first was the Great Kung Lao; the first Shaolin Monk to secure a victory for Earthrealm in the Second Tournament. He fought against Shang Tsung and won. This was promptly ended the next generation when Goro triumphed over the Great Kung Lao, and he was killed. The second was the Original Sub-Zero, Sub-Zero V who is now reffered to as Noob Saibot. He once bested the attack of all four elemental Gods; The nly record of a mortal man to do that to multiple Gods in all of history. This showed both strength and determination, which he then used to defeat Shinnok; fallen ELDER God. One can see why he would be an ideal candidate, but his loyalty to the Lin Kuei are what drove him to follow his own path. A path not worthy of his greta talents. He even ended the mortal life of the current Elder God's Champion Scorpion, who is also responsible for his death in the first Mortal Kombat tournament. During that tournament, Raiden's focus was on Sub-Zero up until his death and Liu Kang victory became his new observation. Over the years, Liu Kang has established that he is worthy and Raiden is more than confident in his abilies to act as a God. Do not be fooled though, Raiden WILL fight to the death and try his hardest, not for his survival but for the sake of Earthrealm.)
The others watch in awe as bolts of lightening strike down on the arena countered by balls of flame. By the end, Liu Kang watches over the defeated and bloody body of Raiden. Liu Kang lifts Raiden's head so he can speak. The surviving combatants are curious as to what they are talking about. It is something that only Raiden and Liu Kang will ever know, but some like to believe it was a way of prtraying mutual respect to one another. That, or some form of thanks they gave to each other for all the battles they fought together over the years. Raiden then ascends to the Heavens as does Liu Kang. Liu then returns with different garments and shows the people that he is now Protector of Earthrealm. He takes a minute to express how much of a good man Raiden was and how Liu will do everything he can to match up to him. Even though it will take getting used to, he not only reassures the people that whilst he is around, threats from others will be kept to a minimum but shows them that Raidens spirit will live on. A statue of Raiden is erected alongside other saviours of Earthrealm i.e. Sub-Zero V and the Great Kung Lao and Liu Kang holds up Raidens signature weapon whilst wearing his signature hat. From his lightening staff, lightening is summoned out of respect for Raiden before Liu ascends once more.

so if we don't do it by each sunday, there's no other opportunity? o well, i guess I'll just suck it up and get over it if I miss one. Btw, with 62 characters, you think we can get through all of them? lol, it'll be over a year!! I'll go the whole wya if you guys do :P
Thanks for clearing everything up on the PM, m0s3pH.
I'll definately get them in by Sunday. I'll be writing up a new bio like I told you (thinking about doing it in that style I mentioned), and also might drop/add/modify a few things on the original Liu's ending.
Good luck to everyone else, I'll be reading the entries for sure; everyone will definately come up with some great-quality stuff, much better than what Midway has done for us =)

Rain: I had come to avenge my father's death which had been orchestrated by the emperor Shao Kahn who i once swore to serve during his invasion. I had come to Blaze's pyramid only to learn that Argus, a half-god and ruler of Edenia, was in fact my father, and that his two sons are in fact my half brothers who fought to prevent Armageddon from happening. In the end, my half brother Taven had defeated Blaze, and because our half-brother Daegon had turned against him, I decided to help him. Later on I had discovered that princess Kitana had defeated Shao Kahn, but that her mother, Sindel, had been killed in the fighthing. Kitana asked me where I had been for so long and I told her I had been hiding in the shadows , recovering my powers, waiting for my next chance to take down Shao Kahn, but that I had heard she killed him.
I wish to join the Edenian forces, and once more redeem myself for my past actions. I have been put in charge of a small group of soldiers that are joining with another clan, lead by someone I had long ago made an alliance with , who has the ability to control the cold freezing powers of a cryomancer, and is the Grand Master of the Lin Kuei.
Smoke- Armageddon is over, and the elemental called Blaze has been put to rest. I have regained my conscience thanks to my long time ally Sub Zero, and he has told me that the one who controlled me during the Dragon King's ascension is in fact Sub Zero's older brother, who had become a wraith after being killed by the one called Scorpion of the Shirai Ryu clan. I now find myself fighting along side my longtime friend and ally, as well as the Edenian forces whom have made an aliance with us to protect the realms from Noob Saibot, and all who wish to conquer the realms once more. However, although I have regained my conscience, I sense something deep inside my programming is waiting to be corrupted.... Reiko: Armageddon is over. I was lucky to have survived the bloody battle. I watched as Blaze had been defeated by the half -god Taven. Later on I had heard of Shao Kahn, my former master being killed by the princess of edenia, alongside her mother and her bodyguards. I saw this as a chance to not only avenge my master, whom I had idolized , despite him neglecting my abilities in combat, and now I wish to finish what Shao Kahn had started, and take control of the realms myself.

I saw this as a chance to not only avenge my master, whom I had idolized , despite him neglecting my abilities in combat, and now I wish to finish what Shao Kahn had started, and take control of the realms myself.

shotgunpuma- There will be some weeks (particularly in the later stages) when we do two characters at once, to speed up the process.

If you want to participate, do you have to do one every week? Or can you just do one whenever you feel like it?

Whenever you want is fine, and to Leo, since only one person actually entered I'm going to have to change the days a bit. I won't start voting until at least one or two more people enter.

lol and here i was getting all excited lol. any insight into what character we shall have next week? or is it in no particular order and simply chosen at your own discretion?? i'm starting to think of ways to link them otherwise we could go off on one and mention a whole bunch of storylines in one characters ending. kinda like how kazuya heihachi and jins endings all linked in Tekken 4, some things were left in all of them whilst other parts were a mystery in some of the endings. i think the word i'm looking for is intertwining, but anyway, come on guys! i wanna hear some storylines, might prove to the MK creators just how goddamn lazy they really are!
Alright, whew, here's the Bio/Intro to Liu Kang in MK: Armageddon. Sets up his motive, his goals, as well as what the hell became of him since Deception, so that there are no loose ends (hopefully).
The Ending will be posted soon after...
Liu Kang’s bio is an FMV intro to his status and current position in MK: Armageddon, narrated by his spiritual consciousness.
~ LIU KANG’S BIO ~.
The intro begins with a photo of Liu Kang’s zombie form, half of its body emerging from a dark-filled background as he reaches frighteningly with his right hand to the screen. Within his body we can see the translucent image of his spiritual form, whose face is twisted into a struggling expression as he follows the motion of his corporeal form.
A solemn music meant to instill a slight terror in the viewer plays in the background as the following information appears on-screen...
Alignment: Good
Allies: Ermac, Kung Lao, Sonya, Johnny Cage
Enemies: Shang Tsung, Corporeal Liu Kang
After a few seconds, this image fades along with the information and the music, and the movie begins...
The scene starts as the screen shows us a night sky filled with clouds, a shower of rainfall pelting downwards from within them. It then descends to the earth below, and we find ourselves in the Wu Shi Academy’s arena, covered in darkness. The place lights up for a very brief second as lightning strikes. Just then, we hear the alarming sound of chains being dragged across the floor. As though it was looking for the source of this sound, the screen suddenly zooms to the area on the left side of the arena. That is when we see a pair of black shoes limping their way around the rim of the arena while leaving a trail of moist earth in their track, and a pair of rusty chains following close behind it.
After a long while of watching helplessly as my allies attempted to defeat the Deadly Alliance unsuccessfully, I was finally released from the torturing state of being trapped within Shang Tsung along with his countless other consumed souls, thanks to a daring sacrifice by Raiden that affected the sorcerer. While watching over the realm of Outworld, I came to know of the return of the Dragon King, as well as his enslavement through magic of my fallen comrades. Evidently, I thought it best to remain there and assist in his destruction in any way possible...
Cut to within the Wu Shi Academy, where a few monks are located. Some speak with each other, while others read ancient-looking books. There is a sudden crashing sound heard in the distance, and the monks all gasp (the ones reading fling their books to the floor), their gazes turning to the front doors.
My primary goal was put to a halt, however, when my eyes fell upon a shocking image: my body, my physical form had been reanimated by a force I did not know of...
The screen shows us the front doors as they are shattered in many wooden fragments, and Liu Kang’s decaying body looks into the interior of the Academy with violence in his eyes, right before charging in, swinging his chains viciously. The monks yelp in fear and surprise, but barely have time to overcome their shock as ‘Zombie Liu’ runs in and attacks them all. His chains slash the bodies of his former acquaintances and his feet strike his victims continuously until there is no more life around him and the Academy’s floors and walls are soaked with innocent blood.
Starting at the Wu Shi Academy, it roamed the rest of the Earth towards an unknown target, leaving a trail of murder and bloodshed in its path. Although I was not directly responsible for these atrocities, I could not stand by, aware of this horrifying fact, without attempting to put a stop to it. Something had to be done...
A new scene opens up showing us the interior of a forest at dusk. We can see a large sun setting in the far horizon. The screen moves very slowly and further into the forest, until the enigmatic ninja Ermac walks into the scene and, seemingly exhausted, leans his body against a tree, putting his right arm around its trunk. By looking closely, we can also notice a tree further down the forest, ripped from its roots and floating midair while engulfed by a green aura. The screen now zooms into Ermac’s face as he catches his breath, and before long, we see a spirit materializing itself behind him.
I knew well that I had little chances of accomplishing much through solitary effort. I descended onto Outworld and wandered the realm, my mind racing, and lacking any thought of what I could do to free my allies and my own body from foreign control... that is when I encountered a mysterious ninja by the name of Ermac, whom I recognized as a former guard of Khan’s during his invasion of Earthrealm. Sensing no threat within him (even through the many souls that formed his being), I approached him with hopes of an alliance...
The screen zooms gradually into Liu Kang’s translucent face as he looks to Ermac. We see his lips move as he begins to tell the story of recent events to Ermac, but we only hear his first few words before they fade out to an inaudible state, and a suspenseful music plays. The screen now fades and we are left witnessing the ominous scene of the Dragon King as he stands amid endless piles of rubbles, his large claws summoning a strange energy before him. A few seconds go by and Onaga’s energy seems to increase, until the fallen bodies of Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Jax, and Kitana rise from within the remains of the building. Their eyes open and glow bright red...
Almost in the blink of an eye, the screen suddenly shoots forward away from these characters and within the darkness in this scene’s horizon. From within it, the image of Zombie Liu Kang turns to face the camera, its face twisted in an expression of insatiable thirst.
My persuasion and pleading was almost unnecessary, as Ermac was able to relate to me as a spirit tortured by worldly troubles, and accepted my offer of allegiance without hesitation. I could see that he had hopes to redeeming himself from his past wrongs, although why I cannot answer with certainty.
In a new scene, we see Johnny Cage performing his Shadow Kick towards Ermac, who disappears in an instant and rematerializes behind him, flinging his body off-scene through the use of his telekinetic abilities. Just then, Jax charges at the ninja with a combination of punches, all of which Ermac dodges and summarily retaliates with a strong uppercut that knocks Jax on his back. The screen now zooms out and moves in a half-circle, showing us Liu Kang’s spirit hovering far from the fighting. He seems to be praying or concentrating profoundly, and a bright sphere of light is growing above him. When the screen returns its focus to Ermac, he is caught in the back by a flying kick from Sonya, sending him straight into Kung Lao, who catches Ermac by his right arm and slams him face-first onto the floor. Ermac, on the floor, now looks to Spirit Liu, and we can the word “Hurry” being uttered, though slightly drowned in the constant background music. The screen turns its focus to the sphere of light above Spirit Liu’s manifestation, which suddenly intensifies to the point where the entire screen is consumed by light.
Still, with the aid of a skilled, physical warrior such as Ermac, I freed my allies from Onaga’s control through my reflective link with the power of the Heavens. Part 1 of my overall goal was complete... my final task, however, did not go as expected...
We now find ourselves in the ruined interior of an aged structure resembling an old temple. There is a quick flash of bluish light to the left side of the screen, and immediately after, Spirit Liu can be seen sliding across the floor. Zombie Liu then takes three steps and appears into the scene, looking down at his spiritual form with a vague expression in his startling face. We see fragments of Spirit Liu’s being leave his body as he struggles to get himself back up and continue to face his physical self. He is about to charge at Zombie Liu when a pale hand suddenly barges on-screen and shoots a massive wave of electricity towards the duo. The two “Lius” are overcome by the electric energy and are suddenly drawn towards each other, their bodies merging into one.
For a long while, my battle against my reanimated body seemed to be in vain. That was until a being interrupted it unexpectedly, striking us with a strong current of powerful energy that combined my spiritual manifestation with my uncontrollable revived body. The results were far from positive...
When the electric current disappears, only Zombie Liu remains whole, and we see the last fractions of Spirit Liu being sucked into its body. The screen fades to black for a moment before focusing on Zombie Liu’s feet and slowly rising to show us the alarming warrior that remained.
There was a reason I did not ascend into the Heavens immediately after Shang Tsung’s souls were freed... a reason beyond that of my simple choice. Shameful as it may be, I still remembered my death... I still remembered Shang Tsung’s cold, lifeless hands forcing me into my untimely death... and along with this memory came the return of my hatred for the sorcerer. During the merger of my spiritual self with my body, my anger joined with the endless anger that fueled by reanimated body. As a result, it fed on the corruption we both shared, and against my will, my consciousness was absorbed by that horrid killing machine...
The final shot of the intro is that of Zombie Liu limping out onto an empty, darkened field and looking up at the full moon above him. For an instant, we see Raiden’s apparently irate face reflected in the silvery moon before it fades away and is replaced by the grinning one of Shang Tsung.
As before, I am trapped, and must watch helplessly as my body, driven by rage, carries out the tainted task I secretly harbored within me even in the afterlife... I must watch without interference as my body pushes itself along in search of Shang Tsung, his death the only thought throbbing beyond my control into my mind...
The Ending will be posted soon after...

And the ending (for those who have already read it at my Self-Made Endings thread, with a small adittion in the end for proper understanding of the closure).
~ LIU KANG ~
The scene starts as the screen films an area at the first level of the pyramid. We then see a pair of boots step onto the scene, and as the screen rises, it reveals none other than Shang Tsung, who seems to be carefully making his way across the pyramid unnoticed. He reaches the far end of it and carefully looks down at the earth below. The screen shows us what he sees: Shao Khan and Onaga locked in fierce kombat. We get a close-up shot of Tsung's face, his eyes wide with fear at the sight of Khan. Immediately, he puts his back to the pyramid's wall in hopes that neither the emperor or the Dragon King take notice of his close presence. Shang Tsung then takes a deep breath, and looks up to the very top of the pyramid. As the screen once again reveals to us his vision, we see a swirling string of fire being emitted from the pyramid's very top. The sorcerer now looks to his side and notices a large flight of stone stairs leading to the pyramid's top. With one final look around him showing that he remains unnoposed, Tsung starts dashing up the stairs. He climbs a considerably long distance... before two iron hooks cut through the air and sink down on his shoulders.
Tsung screams in both pain and horror as the hooks sink deeper and start pulling him backwards. He tries with all his might to hang onto the ledge of the stone steps, but eventually is overpowered by whatever source is controlling the hooks. Tsung is sent tumbling down the flights of stairs he had previously climbed, and eventually lands back onto the third level of the pyramid. We get a close up shot of him as he struggles to get back onto his feet. As he does so, the screen reveals Liu Kang's reanimated corpse standing just behind him. When the sorcerer angrily turns around to face his attacker, the screen spins as well to show us the expression of pure terror that overcomes his pale face. Liu Kang slowly makes his way towards the petrified Shang Tsung.
Shang Tsung: "Im...impossible! I killed you!"
Liu Kang replies with a fierce battle cry, and without warning, charges at his murderer with his Flying Kick. Having no time to dwell in the possible causes of his enemy returning to the world of the living, Tsung evades the oncoming kick and an intense battle commences, both fighters desperately trying to land a hit. Shang Tsung throws two exaggerated punches towards Liu Kang, who ducks them both and uppercuts the sorcerer. Before Tsung can bounce back into action, Liu Kang follows up the assault with a spinning kick to his stomach and a backhand jab that strikes the sorcerer directly in the face; the scene slows down as Tsung is sent flipping through the air and finally falls on his head onto the stone surface. Refusing to accept defeat at the hands of his monstrous adversary, Shang Tsung delivers a hasty leg sweep to Liu Kang, who in turn, falls to the floor as well. He then attempts to stomp on his fallen opponent, successfully landing one hit, but failing to follow up as the former Shaolin Warrior catches his leg during his second stomp and throws the sorcerer backwards. Tsung tumbles down yet another flight of stairs and falls to the pyramid's second level.
He has only time to look back up to the third level and see Liu emit another vociferous shout, then throw himself down towards the second level. Tsung is met with a devastating kick to the face as he tries to stand back up. While on the floor, he wipes his face with his long sleeve, which gets covered in blood as he does so. This infuriates Shang Tsung deeply. As Liu Kang approaches him intending to continue overpowering his opponent, Tsung waves his hands in the air and conjures two fireballs out of thin air, which shoot towards Liu Kang from the sides. Without even glancing at them, however, Liu shoots his own fiery projectile at the two incoming fireballs; when they meet with his, all four burst in a string of flames. Shang Tsung snarls angrily, slamming his fist on the stone surface beneath him, while Liu simply stares at him blankly, his gaunt face lacking any expression whatsoever.
Shang Tsung: "Whatever you are, you still posess the same abilities as the human you once were..." (He slowly gets back onto his feet as he speaks, Liu Kang still gaping at him). "But I refuse to accept defeat at the hands of an abomination such as yourself!"
Shang Tsung suddenly wraps himself in a strange green mist that overtakes his entire body; when the mist disappears, there stands Princess "Kitana" in his place. "Kitana" walks over to Liu carefully, who stands his ground, his face still vacant. Once "she" is close enough, "Kitana" quickly sends a roundhouse kick to Liu Kang, who ducks the attack as though he was expecting it. When "Kitana" fails to land two more of her attempted kicks, Liu is quick to react as a speedy combination of his punches hit its target. The countless blows knock "Kitana" back once more and causes the green mist to overtake "her" body, leaving a Shang Tsung with a black eye and a gash on his left cheek growling at Liu. The frantic sorcerer's rage cast a shadow on his good judgement: he surrounds himself with a green mist once more and, soon enough, "Kung Lao" charges at Liu aimlessly kicking and uppercutting the air. The emotionless Liu encounters no great difficulty in evading these attacks, and once again delivers a combination of attacks to his distraught opponent; his blows continuously bear down on "Kung Lao", "Bo' Rai Cho", "Sonya Blade", and even "Johnny Cage". After the continuing attack, all that reamains is Shang Tsung himself, as he falls to the ground forcefully yet again.
Shang Tsung: "Damn! This creature lacks any sort of emotion or sentimentality..."
Liu Kang now continues to walk towards Shang Tsung, who backs away, realizing he does not have the means to defeat this repulsive being.
Just then, we suddenly get a shot of the former Elder God Shinnok as he falls inside a strange, blazing crimsom portal on a sandy terrain, shouting in rage, then finally disappears inside of it, the portal closing up once he sinks in.
When the screen goes back to the fight between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung, we surprisingly enough see Liu clutch his chest, gasp with a sickening sound, then fall to the floor as though someone had just knocked him down. Tsung looks at this with surprise for a brief moment, then smiles giddily. He stands and leisurely makes his way over to Liu Kang, who seems to be in great pain.
Shang Tsung: “And to think you were almost defeating me..." (He punt-kicks Liu's face arrogantly, blood rushing from his cadaverous face). "It seems as though history really has a peculiar way of repeating itself..."
Shang Tsung grabs a hold of Liu's head, and grinning widely, snaps his neck as he had done during their last battle. He then looks down at the defeated body of Liu Kang, assuming him to be dead once more. To his amazement, however, Liu sits back up (his head facing backwards), grabs his head, and snaps it back into place. He then attempts to rise back up with a blow to Shang Tsung; his punch, however, lacks power. Shang Tsung blocks it without even making an effort, then strikes Liu's face with his right fist. The suddenly-weakened warrior is soon lying on the floor again. Hoping to not allow his adversary another chance to attack, Shang Tsung takes out his Straight Sword.
Shang Tsung: “Back to hell, you nauseating beast!"
Just as Tsung is about to sink his sword on the decaying flesh of Liu Kang's reanimated corpse, a Katana is suddenly driven through his midsection from behind. He shouts in pain and awe, and once it is taken out by his attacker, he spins around to see Kenshi, blood running down his weapon. Tsung tries to overcome the excruciating pain from Kenshi's surprise assail and charges at the blind swordsman. They begin a weapon kombat, their swords clinging against each other, but Tsung soon starts to get worn down by his injury; he kneels down on the floor and clutches his stomach.
Kenshi: “After all this time, I will finally get the chance to slay you for all you've caused me! My only regret is that I won't be able to see your lifeless body."
Shang Tsung: “Bastard!"
Tsung swipes at Kenshi's left leg with his Straight Sword, cutting the swordsman, who staggers sideways. He then hurls a fireball at Kenshi's right hand. As his hand is engulfed by the flames, Kenshi is forced to drop his Katana to the floor. Before long, the flames disappear, but by then it is too late for Kenshi to recover his fallen weapon. Shang Tsung struggles to stand up as best as he can, then prepares to bring his sword down on his attacker. As the blade closes in on its target, Kenshi quickly defends himself with his telekinetic energy. The sorcerer's hands and Straigth Sword glow bright blue, and an unseen force seems to be holding his weapon in place. Tsung fights to bring his weapon down on Kenshi, but it seems all of his might is not enough to overcome the bizarre energy opposing him.
It is then that Shang Tsung is hit in the back by Kung Lao, who knocks him down with his Whirlwind Kick. The Straight Sword slides across the floor and stops near Liu Kang's motionless body. The sorcerer is overcome by unbearable pain, having suffered too many injuries already. He hurls another one of his projectiles towards Kung Lao, who dodges it without a problem. Realizing inevitable defeat, Shang Tsung attempts to crawl away from the scene. Kenshi retrieves his weapon.
Kenshi: “You're not going anywhere, sorcerer! Stay and face your imminent end with whatever dignity you have left!"
Shang Tsung continues to try and escape the area, but his injury stops him from going much further. Certain that he will attempt to flee even when at the brink of death, Kenshi leaps towards Tsung shouting determinedly, and brings his Katana crashing down on the sorcerer, slaying him as the blade deprives him of what life he has left inside of him. The sorcerer is finally dead...
Kenshi falls to his knees, exhausted, his leg filled with stinging pain.
The screen now shifts position to show us Kung Lao, who is staring down at Liu Kang's reanimated body with both astonishment and anguish clear on his face. Liu Kang tries to get back up, moaning and groaning as though suffering greatly. Kung Lao backs up as he stares wide-eyed at what has become of his long-time friend.
Kung Lao: “What has happened to you, Liu?"
Liu Kang looks at Kung Lao without emotion, then tries to attack him with feeble movements that are far from menacing.
Kung Lao: “This is not you!"
Liu moans frighteningly once again. Kung Lao takes off his hat.
Kung Lao: “The least I can do is allow you to rest in peace..."
He grips his razor-rimmed hat tightly, then forces himself to hurl it at Liu Kang. The hat's sharp rim slices the corpse's head clean off, and his horrid body falls onto its back, completely lifeless...
To Kung Lao’s (as well as our) surprise, Liu’s Spirit Form now raises as though an essence from his defeated corporeal form. He opens his translucent eyes slowly and turns to face Kung Lao.
Liu Kang: “My consciousness was slowly draining away from the moment Shang Tsung was killed... thank you for freeing me, Kung Lao...”
Kung Lao (at a loss for words, overcome by gloom): “Liu...”
Spirit Liu is engulfed by a blinding light descending from the darkening skies above the battlefield.
Liu Kang: “I will be with you...”
With a faint, almost indiscernible smile to Kung Lao, his being takes gradual flight and, at one with the heavenly energy, slowly disappears into the Heavens...
PICTURE: On the picture, we see the legendary Wu Shi Academy. Kung Lao is standing in front of a large group of fighters, apparantly training them. To the left, we see a transluscent image of Sonya Blade, Jax standing behind her. To the right of the picture, we see Sub-Zero, a group of Lin Kuei warriors standing behind him. On the clear sky above the Academy, one can see Liu Kang's face as he looks down at this scene.
Kung Lao was responsible for ridding the world of the repellant killing machine that had become of Liu Kang's body, and consequently, took care of the only problem still keeping his former companion's spirit from ascending into the Heavens. Although he had left his place in the Earthrealm, Liu Kang would continue to keep his gaze onto it, watching over the realm from afar and providing his former allies with the proper inspiration to keep it safe from all future harm. The memory of Mortal Kombat's former champion would never be forgotten by the realm he so readily dedicated his life to protecting...

Onaga reserected the champion of mortal kombat liu kang as a body guard. But with his soul trapped in shang tsung the body rather than fully reserecting zombified. Onaga disregarded his failure and the monster was left to it’s own accord.
Monks discovering this abomination attempted to imprison it, but Zombie kang broke free and without the soul to provide wisdom and conscience the body acted on only what it knew, fighting and violence. It raged with savage brutality leaving death in it’s wake.
After Shang tsung’s death the spirit of liu kang was freed. Instead of traveling to the after life with the other freed souls liu chose to stay behind to face the dragon king.
Threw meditation Liu had a vision of what had transpired of past and present. For a moment Liu felt helpless with no body there was no way he could fight. He then remembered a quote from a martal arts master that he had heard as a child, “be like water.” Liu realized he was not helpless, all he needed to do was to change to fit the conundrum. Liu spent his life learning, but the time had come for him to be the teacher. He first traveled to the white lotice society were he found shujinko. Liu instructed him and passed his skills on to the warrior who was most determined to defeat the dragon king. Liu was confident onaga was doomed, but the people of outworld were still in danger. Liu traveled to outworld and found his old teacher Bo Rai Cho. Liu reminded him how it was his instruction that made him into the warrior who was able to save earthrealm time and again. Liu then tracked down the final warrior he needed, ermac. Ermac agreed to help Liu free his friends from onagas control. With them all freed Liu instructed them on how to defeat the dragon king.
With confidence that onoga was done for Liu traveled back to earthrealm to make sure none of the dragon king’s armies traveled threw the portals. There he found his reanimated corpse freely rampaging. Though not able to touch Liu was able to lore his other self back to its tomb were it wont hurt anyone. Soon after Johnny cage arrived to pay his respects to his fallen friend, only to discover the carnage broght by zombie kang. Spirit Liu antagonized zombie kang forcing him to lose focus on johnny’s attacks, and together they defeated zombie kang and resealed him in his tomb.
Threw onaga’s malice liu kang’s friends had cheated death, but liu was not as lucky. His soul could not be reunited with his body. And because he did not leave when it was time, spirit liu could not pass to the afterlife. However, as a spirit liu was no longer bound to the laws of mortal existence. He then traveled to a world of spirits to begin a new journey
Unfortunately zombie kang not truly being alive can’t actually die. Trapped in his tomb he remained waiting to be freed. The escaped experiment meat seeking life forms similar to himself is psychically drawn to the animated corpse. Tsung seeked to claim the prize by defeating blaze, kang only seeked tsung’s death. There fight was interrupted by the arrival of taven. Taven knocked them both aside and defeated blaze. The charge of energy that taven’s armor replaced down the pyramid had rendered the fighters unconscious. Tsung and zombie kang were amongst the first to awaken. Shang tsung was now more powerful than ever, but so was zombie kang. Zombie kang killed Shang tsung in mortal kombat, but now kang himself had once again become a threat. The problem was promptly solved by nightwolf who had found spirit liu trapped in a metaphysical reality and had brought him to confront his corpse. with the energy of blaze in his body Liu’s soul was able to reenter his body and truly resurrect.
All was not yet well. Raiden had been tainted by his suicide and although he still protected earthrealm he was now a threat to other realms. Liu kang challenged his former mentor to mortal kombat.
