Well I guess that the last person would be the custom character from Konquest. Or maybe he's an "extra" character and the 8th person would be the new Shokan (eventhough I do not believe in this Shokan rumor at all...)
Why should Raiden come back? Chances are looking bad. Deception will play in Outworld, and that's the reason why characters like Johnny Cage, Jax, Sonya, etc. were left out. Raiden can't come to Outworld or else he'll loose his powers. Besides, he probably has to defend Earthrealm from various dangers (maybe the weakened DA?).
Could the 6th returning character possibly be one of the DA? Could it be Nitara (eventhough she's supposed to be in her home realm again...)? Could it be Kitana returning back to Edenia from Earthrealm, who stumbles upon Milena? Why not Reptile, eventhough he is supposed to be the DK? Maybe he could be (as suspected in other threads) a sub-boss, eventhough that is unlikely...
But it probably won't be Raiden...

Is there a chance Jade could be playable? She is in the Prison stage, and why would they make a new model for just a background character? She is Kitana's friend and she could be trying to rescue her. I would also like to see Rain returning. A whole bunch of others I want back too are Kintaro, Sektor (which is a probability), Smoke (which is also a probability, Kai, and Sareena. That's alot to ask for though... And what about all the unfinished storylines? The Outworld Investigation and the Red Dragon, the Vampires, Drahmin, Moloch, Quan Chi. What ever happened to Fujin? I know he's in the Prison, but wasn't he supposed to be the protecter of Earth now? Frost? She is still a super mysterious character! I don't see how they're gonna pull this off...

The opening for MK: Deception will tie up all the loose ends and pick up where MK: DA left off.

I wonder if we'll get to see the Prison Stage at E3 and who's in it?

Skab has been seen in combat in the videos. His lifebar says Noob, but again, this is still early stuff.
Kobra's gloves are the same as Ben's? I'll have to check that.
And, uh...I believe Reptile is supposed to be the Dragon King, isn't he?
Quan Chi, maybe. Again, early stuff. Remember, we saw Kitana in Chess Kombat, too.
And I give that German mag little to no credence. They didn't know that the 'grey ninja' was Noob's alternate costume. I'll believe Sektor is in when I see him. I hope he is.

ugh!! it was stated that 10 classics would make their 3D debut in mkD (doesnt include mk4 as 3D) and 6 characters will return from mkda.
it is beyond me why ppl persist in saying that subzero and scorpion are part of the 10 classic returning characters.

Let's see...maybe it's because they first appeared in a game in 1992, way, way back. It was called Mortal Kombat, if I remember right. People kinda grew attached to them, and now consider them 'classic'.

Ok I was on ign.com. I went to the seception page and they had some interviews with Ed Boon. He says that there are alot of hidden stuff this time around and alot of hidden characters. He says the 24 characters are the starting base of the game, that is not the final number. He says lots of hidden characters and goodies this time around. SO just wanted to update u on that.

Hmm. No one seems to care whether or not Kitana returns. I don't see how she could be left out with both Sindel and Mileena making appearances.

reptile cant be a character in it since he was transformed into the dragon king and he is the new boss... if they did have an older version of reptile in the game that would be kool though... like if they had MK2 reptile (the best one)... if reptile isnt in it though i wont be too upset cuz hopefully mr boon and company will be smart enough to make the dragon king playable and he will have the head snack fatality from MK2

i wanna see goro or motaro or kintaro return... what ever happened to those huge semi-boss badasses... also, IF shang stung is in the game then he should be able to morph into the other characters like back in the day... that was like the coolest part about picking him to play with

As for the huge semi-boss...have you seen the picture of the Dragon King yet? With him, we don't need a huge semi-boss we got one as the boss itself! As for a semi-boss, I'm hoping for something a little different....
