I was expecting a more fluid game not the same engine of the last game wrapped up by new characters and features,it's very well having these new modes but the 1 on 1 arcade mode is the main game and i feel diappointed

'If its not broken, dont fix it'
There was nothing wrong with MK:DA so why not reuse the fighting sytem?

Fair enough but don't you think that they could have made the game more responsive?

so anybody who will like deception is mindless? well sorry my video game tastes are not as classy as some of yours. i think the mortal kombat frnchise has been doing nothing but growing since 1992. each game introduces something new, and this game is features. so do me a favor and get off your high-horse and just don't buy it and leave it to the mindless "drolls" to play.

I was expecting Deception to be very similiar to Deadly Alliance, but if I wasn't expecting that I would be disappointed
On a side note I liked the HP, LP, HK, LK system better than the current system, it suited 2D fighting games better than the current engine suits a 3D engine.

I play a lot of fighting games, I like a lot fo fighting games, and I'm good a lot of fighting games. I think MK:DA was just fine and am eagerly awaiting MK:D.
You are clearly expecting way too much. The resonsiveness I thought was fine in MK:DA. Perhaps a little worse than SC2 or DOA, but it wasn't far off. I believe you exaggerate.
The game was great, and I like it just a hair less than SC2. It sounds to me like you need to join Karate or something and spar in real life to get what you're really looking for.
As for the rest of us, we buy the game because we like more than just the gameplay. I also enjoy the gameplay, but I like everything else too.
Let's not forget that people don't have time to learn a shit load of moves like in VF4 (the most REDICULOUS GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED) anymore. People have jobs to do, bills to pay and spouses to pay attention to. The last thing I want to do is sit down and pump the same amount of time into learning one character as it would take to complete a Final Fantasy game.
MK has always suited it's purpose. That's all I've ever asked it to do. To ask anymore is to ask it to be something it never will be. MK knows it's place, and it will stay there. I appreciate where it is because it gives me enjoyment and leaves me with time to do other things. I can have fun with that game and not sacrifice any large amount of time. However, I can get exceptionally great at it if I do spend a lot of time on it. The beauty is, it's my choice.
Calling people mindless and other such things for playing a game they enjoy is shallow and immature. Go play your games and we'll play ours.

I'll probably get flamed out the yin yang for this, but this is my opinion.
MKDA disappointed me most because it was unfinished. The gameplay, however, was fun for me, but needed to be faster, and needed more options than just kombos. MKD, said to be a bit faster, should be fun for me as well.
This is a different type of game, it's not your typical 3d martial arts fare. The game uses super moves like teleports, lot's of projectiles, and many other "otherworldly" moves. These things alone set it apart from a vast majority, if not ALL, of the 3d fighters out there. Therefore, the game play really HAS to be different. I am not saying it is perfect, far from it, but given what it IS, what type of game it is, I still think Boon did a marvellous job.
Boon and company have a gargantuan task ahead of them. They have to take the 2d characters, somehow retain at least a few of their special otherworldly moves we all love, and throw them into a complete 3d universe, while making it all seem fresh AND familiar at the same time. Think about it. If they kept too much of the older aspects in, people would complain "Ah it's just a 2d fighter with 3d graphics". If they took more of the older aspects OUT, people would complain "it's just like Tekken! No!" It's a pretty tough balancing act, to keep it fresh AND familiar at the same time. Given that, I think they have done a marvelous job, and have succeeded greatly in areas that other games have not (SF going to 3d was NOT well recieved).
Once again, am I saying it is perfect? Nope. There could be some things I would love to see in it. But as far as the engine goes, being the type of game it is with the moves the characters have, I think it really works out for the best.
My 2 cents. Flame away.

Flaming aside, no-one is saying that it's anything to do with other games until people such as yourself say it is.
Projectiles so far are still being fired forward as if the game was 2D, too easy to be side-stepped, if the things that make MK stand out are going to stay there then they are going to have to adapt to being in a 3D fighter.
eg. if you're using them in a attacking way then multiple projectiles in different directions would work well, forcing the opponent to block, so you can attack. Something along the lines of this.
Nevermind any of this they've done a good job doing something new, the classic aspects should've been adapted properly first.
and yes it's better than the 3D street fighter games were

I just dont understand what people were expecting?! We all knew this game was the next step from MKDA, so why would the engine be totally different?
The speed and everything has been said to be vastly improved...by reading reviews and magazine previews...and it has all the characters that were missing from MKDA.
Also, why come here and slag people who like the look of the game off? Whats the point in that? Video games are a form of entertainment, people can choose to like them or not, and it has nothing what so ever to do with anyone else. So why criticise peoples choices?
Video/computer games are not the end of the world, they should not arrouse violence and bad language, they should make people happy...if this game has upset you then move on and get over it! They add fun to your life, they shouldn't BE your life.
Sorry to go on, but i just get a bit sick and tired of these threads getting nasty and spiteful over something that should be fun and light hearted. Now all play nice!!!

I'm very much annoyed by people who just accuse us of liking mk just because it's mk. We like it because we love it. We love the special moves, we love the atmosphere, we love the feeling that it gives us. Others like other fighting games like Tekken or Soul Calibur or Virtua Fighter. Why?? Tekken uses the same control system throughout those games and none make a remark of that. Soul Calibur, while it's fun to play, it's damn very annoying that you just can pull of massive combo's just by hitting the controller like hell. Even a 5 year old can beat you at it. And what about Virtua Fighter. So much combo's to learn, don't learn them and you basicly screwed because there isn't anything else. All games have their disadventages. And all those games go for another audience. If you like combo's, take virtua fighter, like easy gameplay, take soulcalibur, like special moves, take mortal kombat. I also like DBZ, so sew me, I like to pull of massive super moves and the comic approach.
But don't go dissing people just because they like a franchise, because you do to, it's just some other game.
And those complaining about the game engine. C'mon, it's just their second game using that engine. Now I admint, mk 4 was a disaster in my opinion at the 3d try, but DA was very good at it. I think you're all such persons who'll always buy the newest 3d graphics card for their pc as soon as one that's a little better comes out.
So no game is better or worse, it's just a matter of your own taste.

Can we keep this MK: Deception please no-one said anything about any of the other games, if i have to start defending these other games, that are brilliant in their own right, then I will
One thing I'm disappointed with in Deception is the combo breaker, being a little disappointing in general is one thing but they could've just reworked the reversal, it had potential.
