Well, what can I say. I took a vacation from this site before the release of this game. I canceled my pre orders and decided to wait for your reaction before I get this. From what I read (in random threads and the high level gameplay) people seem a bit miffed.
Regardless, I'd like to read what you all have to say about this game.
What fell short and what they did well.
And for the people who have gripes about this game falling short...
lol

Welcome back conguile, someone and I were just talking about you and Wanderer, how you guys complained about gameplay and then quickly vanished before the game was release.
I know I left around the time that wanderer left as well as menthol. B00gieman bolted too so a bunch of the "haters" we gone in one big swoop. lol I still see menthol at SRK in a few threads. Welcome back conguile, someone and I were just talking about you and Wanderer, how you guys complained about gameplay and then quickly vanished before the game was release.
The MAIN reason I decided to come back now is because the "new game smell" shoud have worn off and objective, factual opinions about the game can be made without debate. I came to the conclusion I was killing the game for many here, so rather then post under false hope I bolted too. Letting you all do as you wish.
I really want to see ALL the members from months back post here with their opinions. Anyone who remembers my user name or that of boogieman, wanderer, menthol and the rest from the big "MK gameplayhater group" (lol) should post.
I remember we had 15 page flame wars about the gameplay. LMAO. Foolish but those were good times.

MK:D isn't out where I am yet unfortunately, I've got a good idea of how I'll think of it, seems that according to the Fight Night transcript last night, glitchy fighters is the way programmers want it to be played
Bleed's moved over to the Fan Art section where he's got his own 3D Motaro thing going.

I think the game is alright, but the gameplay is still the same. After defending the game quite a while before its release, I've come to the conclusion that the fightine engine is crap...
I still play the game (and enjoy it) but I feel the MK series could be so much better if the MK Team decided to put in some more effort.
I've thought of ways MK:Deception could be better...
1. The whole "change stances with a button" thing sucks. The MK Team should take the two hand-to-hand styles and combine them into one default hybrid style. Also, the weapon should only be accessable via a button combination like in MK4. This would make every MK character unique with there own strengths and weaknesses...
2. The whole throw system needs to be worked on. In MK: D, every fighter only had 1 throw, wtf is that?!
3. Faster button responses. The whole "dial-a-combo" style is pretty crappy. I'm not able to instantly make a decision on which moves to use since the moves are damn slow. This eliminates the possibility for custom combos
4. The fighting definately need to be more fluid. It just doesn't flow as good as other fighters (DoA, Tekken, Soul Calibur, ect.)
5. There are many more things that can make the MK fighting engine better, but I'm too laze to post them...
...MK always has been and probably always will be my favorite fighting game, but until its fighting engine is improved, I'll have to keep going to other games to get a good gameplay experience, which is why I'm buying Dead or Alive: Ultimate...

Cart! I know you vanished for a while too. I know you even had your own gameplay improvement thread. lol Well, you knew it was coming I guess.
I decided to take a trip down memory lane and found this old gem. lol Vers is a trooper man. Fighting the good fight to the end. A real MK fan he is.

good fighting game with great variety and debth.
Its hard to get bored with it, trust me.
Puzzle kombat is great, so is chess kombat.
The only drawback of this game is that when it comes to the core fighting, you only have arcade, practice, and versus mode.

To be honest, I hated MK:DA. The game sucked, as far as I'm concerned.
I didn't like the stances or the combos... and I'm not a big fan of 3d fighters. UMK3 was the last MK game that I enjoyed... before MK:D.
MK:Deception is really good. Sure, it has the same crappy stance/combo thing going, but it feels a lot better now. It also has the 3d fighter thing going, which will always have downsides, but the way that attacks react to it (being able to knock people in specific directions, when you know your attacks), and the environments (stage traps and such0 make it also feel a lot better.
The game does have problems, there's no doubt about that. Some of the best MK characters are missing (Smoke is awesome and all, but I miss Cyrax... and Shang Tsung). Having 2 fatalities per character is cool, and the hara-kiris were a nice innovation, but with babalities, friendships, animalities and brutalities (which were a TERRIBLE idea, by the way) of past MKs, it could've used something else.
Mortal Kombat: Deception is a good game, overall. It has 24 characters, which is a strong number. Some of the characters suck, but let's be honest, if the game had 12 GREAT characters to start, you wouldn't need any more (a good example of this is ::gasp:: MK2!). The fighting does work, as long as you memorize some combos (but really, how is this any different than memorizing combos and fatalities of MKs past?). And the best part is that it's online.

Loving this old quote: "Wow, chalk up another victory for Neuro in getting guys like Daemos, Bleed, and ColGuile to argue his points, while he himself talked about people having Ed Boon's cock in their mouths before quickly exiting. "

Its my favorite game so far (i dont just mean MKs. I mean of all games).
Actually, you cant get bored playing it. Alone or with someone: Puzzle kills time and is cool. Chess is my personal favorite. Arcade and Versus is really cool. The Krypt is WAAAY cooler than in MKDA, and the only disappointment so far is: ITS IS POSSIBLE that there may be No super unlockables characters. Anyway, I can live with that.
PS: MILEENA RULES

Welcome back col. I know we've had some beefs in the past (the not-so-legendary struggle on Wanderer's thread), but I'm not one to hold a grudge (well...OK, I am). Here's a quick run-through on my unbiased opinion:
Gameplay: It's a heck of a lot better than DA, that's for sure. The death traps and the faster gameplay help a ton. The juggling and the freaking throws are annoying as heck tho. But I've found that if I time a juggle move right, it can go on forever *cue diabolical laughter*.
Chess Kombat: This is addicting, 'nuff said.
Puzzle Kombat: Why Ed? Why?
Konquest: *Shoots self in head, but comes back to life*. One word of advice if you do get Deception. Unlock everything in Konquest, and then AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! Graphics, voice acting, and the missions, oh god the missions *dies and is ressurected again*.
More later.
