Facts? So lets's this straight: Smoke had his own original combos in UMK3; Had a much better story than half the characters of MK; helped develop some substantial characters of MK... yet he's a clone. Seriously, whatever.
Although I hate Noob Saibot, he's not a clone. It's just that most people don't know how to look past the surface of anything. If you said he was a pallette swap, you would have been right. Reptile, the biggest rip in the entire series, gets off the hook because they gave him his own set of moves long after the fact. Smoke and Noob would have gotten their own moves in MKD despite their past swaps, yet people still use the BS "clone" argument to justify their exclusion. At least Smoke brought something new to the table. Scorpion hasn't done a damn thing since MK2, and just recently veered the path. I'm not even going to go into the vault of potential most of the more obscure characters have. Ermac proves that hollow characters can be turned into masterpieces.
Many people(especially in the IRC) have asked me why I'm so peaved about this. Let's use an anology for a second. Let's say some rich business exec offers a starving Ethiopian boy a very delectable meal if he travels hundreds of miles towards a distance land. Now, the Ethiopian child goes ape-shit crazy and starts immediatly. After a long, difficult journey, the boy finally makes it to his destination, only to find the exec, who says "Just fucking with ya! Have a fun trip home you little shit."
And that basically sums up how I feel. I was told about Smoke in march, and now I've found that he's only in the game via a horrible character who somehow sneaks into every damn MK game after UMK3.
Anyway, many of my peers on here have supported me a lot since Smoke was announced. Those guys have spoken my thoughts better than I could have in this thread, so props to them.

i don't know what to think....i was very glad when i see the first pic of Noob fighting Ermac,and then the pic of Smoke being sliced by Baraka....and now comes the news of both of them being fused into one character "Noob Smoke",i know it's something fresh but it's f*** pissing too!!!!!....well,time will tell....

What if I told you I think that noob and smoke suck and that Liu Kang is better? its called a personal opinion man... everyone has one and just because you hate Liu Kang doesn't mean that he sucks. A lot of people hate him, but a lot of people like him and I know that people feel the same way about noob and smoke... I could care less about it. Who freakin cares. Its a character for crying out loud, not the end of the world.

Even when H. Smoke and Noob got their own moves in UMK3/MKT they were still halfassed and thrown together. Off the top of my head I can't think of a single frame of animation H. Smoke has as his own and I believe Noob's throw animation is his only. They are made up of other people's animation! That's beyond being a palatte swap.
Also, while their origins may be different they're all still the same basic design. Maybe you find it to be awesome, but I've had about enough of "a mysterious ninja who hides in the shadows". No matter how much they add it's still "a mysterious ninja who hides in the shadows" over and over and over and over.
Even when revamped in MKDA and MKD there is still too many ninjas. Yes, their outfits are differnet, but they're still ninjas. "A ninja with goggles", "a ninja with bandages", "a ninja with a shredder helmet", ect. is boring. 5 different looking ninja s is still 5 ninjas. It's an improvement over UMK3 but it's still weak character design.
Sub, Scorp and one other is fine. 4 is pushing it. 5 is just ridiculous. You don't need Scorp, Sub, Ermac, Noob AND Smoke. Especially when they've already got two female ninjas and possibly a cyber ninja. I don't have anything against Smoke himself, but one or two of them have to go. 5 ninjas is just insane. I don't care if it's Ermac, Noob or Smoke.
I am a Stryker fan. The best I'm getting in MKD is the knowledge that he's alive and seeing him in a jailcell. You're getting your favorite ninja, in a roster already packed with ninjas, but in a tag team capacity...and you're acting like Ed Boon has raped you. Ok then.

I seriously dont know what to think. Smoke and Noob are not necessarily any of my favorites, but every character deserves a chance to shine by themselves.
People remember that:
Smoke's storyline involves Sub-Zero which is not only and insanely popular character but is also seen as a great warrior in the MK universe.
Noob's storyline and purpose has always been to spy. Of course he does nothing because he reports what he sees to Shao Khan, or Shinnok. He killed Goro, the Prince of the Shokan, which to me is a big deal.
Anywayz, I hope that people are just joking. I mean if they are "fused", they're storyline better be HOT.

Guys, I take back everything I said about Smoke. You are all in for a great surprise.

Be happy that such a sweet game is coming out, If this one part of the game pisses you that off not to buy it, then dont but youll be misssing out. Give your thanks to Boon, their doing what they think will turn out best. Like said," Smoke has never been a orginal char." Noob had his own set of moves in umk3 and Trilolgy but thats it, this is doing the best for the two. As stated there not fused if you have watched the new thing with boon. They looked to have some sweet looking moves. I give my thanks to Boon for this game and expect you all to do so too.

That's people's problem: Still looking at charactes as being ninjas. I've advanced beyond that. Sub-Zero's not a ninja anymore; he's a grandmaster. Reptile could be anything right now (but let's not go there). Ermac, to me, is now Ermac. Smoke is Smoke. I really think they've all broken their molds, and it's a pity to keep looking at them like they're all still wearing the same thing.
Anyway, I'd debate this point further, but...

Oh, and to the above poster; you'll find that the majority of us are now happy with Noob/Smoke - but that doesn't prevent us from wanting them to act on their own. We are happy for the new game, but that doesn;t mean we have to sit back and take everything Midway tosses at us with a smile.

Let's not forget, there is nothing we have seen so far that says we HAVE to alternate between Noob and Smoke. In theory, we can play entire matches without switching, and just play one or the other.

That is true, but some of their moves are linked and I bet their fatalities are, or they each only have one. Which is why I'm pissed. They fucked Smoke over big time. He finally has an original look and I was looking forward to seeing *his* moves(not moves with someone else) and fatalities. Also Noob's moves from MKT would have been awesome in 3-D.
This is a big mistake imo, plus it's way out of place. Everybody fights single but then Noob and Smoke fight together like something from Tekken Tag. Why not just make a Tag Team mode, instead of making some wacked out one team solo shit.

I dont know what in holy hell were going through there minds when they decided to put Noob and Smoke together. I was looking SO forward to playing and Noob and Smoke seperately and individually, seeing there own styles, weapons, special moves, combos, ETC. Now i've got to fuckin switch back and forth and live with the fact of them having moves together. How horrible
I cant believe it, IMO this is worst than making Stryker or Reiko hidden playable characters. 2 of the greatest MK characters i've been looking dead forward to playing as are now somewhat fused? I had a strange feeling about this ever since we got that whole "fusion" message from Boon a while back.

I was gonna post pretty much the same thing. This Noob-Smoke is nothing to worry about, they're both in the game, just not in the way we envisioned. All that matters is that Smoke fans will still have a kick-ass gray ninja and Saibot fans will still have a kick-ass black ninja.
I agree that this fusion isn't the best idea, but give it a shot.

Noob and Smoke arent fused, they're both separate individual entities that play as a tag team like in the tag team matches in DOA3. Just their play styles are fused. I'm sure you'll be able to unlock them as individual playable charcaters by the time you finish Konquest mode.
