Jesus H. Christ, it's just a video game character, you're all acting like Midway took your mothers and merged them together with a hunchback of Notre Dame. It's not the end of the world.
Both characters will probably be in the game, except you'll either have to switch fighting styles or press a button to switch between them, think of it like when Shang Tsung morphs.

How about everyone chill. This looks like lazyness or creativity, I can't tell which. I guess we'll find out. Yes, it better have a good story to back it up as well.

As far as I'm concerned, this is two things:
A) An attempt to give a ludicrously boring character, I.E. Noob, some matter of interest by fusing him with Smoke. Face it people; Noob hasn;t had a damn thing going for him as a character for ages now. They started something interesting with him killing Goro, but it looks like that's been flushed down the shitter.
B) Yet another way to screw over Smoke fans. First they turn him into a cyber-ninja - not TOO bad - but then we get a carbon Scorpion copy in MKT. Then we don't see him for about 8 years. And now this.
What, it wasn't bad enough he couldn't keep his own body, have his own moves...now he can't have his own damn character selection box either?
I can think of at least ten different story angles for the both of then that don't involve them being fused. We saw screens of Noob fairly early in development. Did they just realize two months ago that Smoke had fans, and this is their attempt to jam him into the game?
God. I'm starting to doubt the veracity of that German thingy. Someone should have had a camera.
Boon, Vogel, you guys reading this? I hope so. This is the first truly HORRIBLE idea in the creation of a GREAT game.

I cant believe it, i had my hopes up that both characters would have there own individual moves, styles, weapons, ETC. But this whole fusion crap is ridiculous. Nice way to piss of Smoke/Noob fans.
Granted to this, this better NOT effect the actual story for them to. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but just imagine if this whole Smoke/Noob fusion thing actually happens in the storyline and Smoke/Noob are indeed fused and what not. That would be utterly terrible.

Even if John T. doesn't have a leg to stand on, you must understand that the use of his name or likeness would be cause for a lawsuit. Midway doesn't need the suit. As i understand the snippet on the front page, there are two characters, used in a tag team fashion. I think this is awesome. Coupled with Shujinko's uber specials (is there a limit to how many projectiles he has, I wonder?), this news makes for a very layered fighting game. I think this game is going to be incredible and today's update has only reinforced & strengthened my thoughts.
Personally, these characters you guys want will be usable without tag-teaming. In a way, it sounds like either:
1) Smoke & Noob will be different fighting styles of the same character.
2) Smoke & Noob will be two different characters with 6 different fighting styles between them.
3) Smoke & Noob will be two different special move sets with the same 3 fighting styles.
Whatever the case, I think that this will be a nice wrinkle in the select screen and something that will both please fans of those characters and be cool to those who are indifferent.

Immediate hate! That's most peoples reaction. If nothing changes then it blows... and if it does change... then it blows! If there wasn't a real reason to have them mixed together they wouldn't bother. It would just be Smoke or just Noob. Nothing says they couldn't drop one of them and just stick with the other. Just because there are pics doesn't mean they have to keep those characters. If anyone remembers, MK4 originally had Noob Saibot during their Road Tour... then he was dropped until the N64 version came out. This mix may end up being the most bad ass character but before any details can be given, people act like it already sucks. Perhaps it'll kick ass, like combining Sub and Scor to form the original Reptile in MK1. True, they didn't get rid of Sub and Scorpion for the sake of Reptile ... but if Reptile in MK2 had all of Sub's and Scorpion's moves... I really wouldn't care if Sub and Scor were abscent. And if they mess it up and Noob and Smoke both suck now then it's not the first time someones character has been jacked. I liked Jax, Kitana, Reptile, Cyrax, Raiden and Kano until MKDA but I got over that. I'm not saying anyone's wrong for being upset but find out the details before you get so furious you feel like Boon crammed his cock in your mouth while his other story writters nailed you from behind.

Who cares? Seriously guys. Let's face it, neither one of them were ever real characters. They were just ninja clones. This idea could be very unique. Give it a chance. Besides, I think the rest of the game has plenty more to offer.

who news maybe this new direction may turn out to be an integral part of the story, may fit in nicely with the deception concept. Smoke is by far my favorite character, asside from reptile of course and i am waiting patiently to see whether or not the MK team has made something spectacular or if they have butchered a fan favorite, only time will tell, a few more weeks guys just a few more weeks

I have to admit, I was a bit pissed about Noob Saibot being tampered with. But the more I think about it, it seems like an intersting idea.

There's been 3 MK games release that use the name "Saibot" since John Tobias left Midway. This John Tobias owns the rights to the name Saibot thing is an urban legend. It really, really needs to die.

i'm more of a Reptile fan, eversince MKI. i thought Reptiles Develution was pretty cool at fist in MKDA, but then realize it just takes the ninja out of him.., just another animal. i feel they should put reptile back in his ninja form.. seriously. // as for Scorpion, its alll good. i just hope his Pi Gua fighting style is still there.

I don't think this is a bad idea. People on this forum continually bring up the idea for the MK team to make bold choices with characters, such as killing lui kang, raiden loosing his powers, reptile deal with the dragon king. So I don't think it's that bad of an idea so long as it's implemented right. Besides we haven't even seen the implementation yet.

Storyline-wise, Smoke has offered more than Noob has. He was a friend to Sub-Zero who was made a slave, who then rediscovered his soul, and went on to help fight against Cyrax and Sektor.
Noob? He sat back, did what Shinnok told him to (which was doing what Kahn told him to[which was nothing much, really]). And then he up and killed Goro.
Pretty costumes do not a character make. Storyline does. True that there were too many ninjas back then, but they at least had unique plots.
I'm really, really praying that the events having taken place in Germany are true. No offense, but we've seen nothing to back the statements up.
And I wouldn't call this avoiding a lawsuit either. They could just as easily have called him Noob. And since Tobias parted on relatively amicable terms (from what I understand), I'd think that he'd allow them to use the name "Saibot".
I think what really has people bothered is the way it's been stated; "Neither Noob nor Smoke will be featured, but a hybrid character will be." This REALLY makes it sound like they're fused into one character, despite the tag-team mention. I have visions of Smoke possessing Noob's body and them fighting for control.

BWUAHAHAHAHA!!!! Finally, there is justice in this world. At first glance, it is probably one of the stupidest ideas ever in MK history. Seriously. The two characters don't even have anything linking them together in their past. I doubt it has anything to do with any lawsuit, I think they are just trying to finally wipe Tobias out from the series altogether...but they could have done that a different way, like just by killing Noob would have been sufficiant.
Who knows. Might be cool, but most likely it probably wont.
