Maybe this time they should do it like Soul Calibur, having the 2P costume be the character's alternate costume.

I really hope there are Alternative Costumes.
I've always loved unlocking them. I understand if they can't drastically change
the DC characters, I mean even the MK cast shouldnt be drasically changed for this game seeing as were trying to keep things iconic
just another cool costume. I hope what they mean is that there
will be alts but maybe not loads different. Hopefully the MK side will have another cool costume to fight in. And there will only be about 20 characters to make alt costumes for, hardly much, and even if DC wont let there characters have alt costumes then midway have no excuse not to give the MK cast alt costumes which will only be about 10-12 characters with DC having them. But I hope that MK and DC have an alt each. I dont see why not ?

JAX007 has provided all the evidence we need. There are NO alternate costumes, just color variations, and I must say that this pisses me off. And what the heck is Boon talking about anyway? who said to have an alternate costume you have to take off Superman's symbol or Batman's symbol to give them 1 extra costume. Sounds like excuses to me.

We really don't know yet, but I think they'll look good regardless even if it is say a slight alternate color scheme wise. I'm fine with that, honestly they sounded unsure at this moment.

We'll have to wait and see though

Personally, I wouldn't want them altering any of their iconic looks. This game is supposed to represent 10 iconic MK and 10 iconic DC characters. The characters they choose, should and will have their most iconic attire on, and I don't think that should be altered in any other way. We don't need new looks, or new costumes, or new attire because it's their original looks that make them so iconic. Sure, maybe a color swap so they can tell eachother apart, but that's about it. I really don't want any drastic changes to the way I remember the characters as.

Look, the way I see it, alternate costumes is already becoming outdated thanks to Tekken, and not having even THAT in a fighter is practically unthinkable.

I hope they do include it. I'd prefer customization features where you put together alternates for your characters according to your choices, much more freedom and less possibilities of bitching. But if they're not gonna do something similar, at least give us some nice alternates to change things up a bit when they get too old.

With the recent release of Dark Knight, there's gotta be alternate costumes! I want to play as Batman in black armor from the movie or at least some sort of black costume, sure the one seen already with blue and grey is classic. I remember Batman in my earliest memories of seeing him in black because I loved the movie versions the most.

I can understand Superman not having an alt costume because he looks the same in both the comics and in movies. Same thing with Spiderman.

For instance if the Joker is in, he shouldn't have an alt, keep the classic purple suit, clown face and green hair. (Please God let there be Joker in this game!)

IMO alt costumes are a must, especially in this day and age. You want to sell a game, take advantage of what might help boost sales like how Dark Knight has taken the #1 spot for top 150 movies released in history. A lot of people are going to want to play as Batman in a black costume.

Why does it Matter? I don't care about alternate outfits, as long as the graphics and game play are good, which by the looks of things already thats not going to be an issue.

Exactly what I was thinking. Who cares how a character looks In battle. When all your doing is kicking ass, or having it kicked lol. I'm sure as hell not gonna focus on Sub-Zero's loin flap dragon symbols instead of the dude who's taking advantage while I am.

Don't get me wrong, I like alts just as much as the next person. But it really don't make much difference to me. The character won't play any different all because he, or she, has a COOL COSTUME! lol.

Seriously, I prefer that for this game, centered his enforts in other aspects. Better reserved cool and fresh alt costumes for "MK9"

Except, character designers dont usually work on gameplay design or story or whatever, One design per character would only make their vacations start earlyer. ;)

i think what Ed Boon meant in his comments is that the MK team wont be allowed to come up with NEW alternate costumes for the DC characters. (maybe the DC staff thinks Ed Boon will make the heroes too dark and gothic?).. but i refuse to believe that we wont be able to play as Batman in an all black alt. costume. And as for Superman, has anyone ever read the graphic novel "Superman: Godfall" by the late Michael Turner?? (if not, pick it up, its phenomenal) but if Ed saw this costume, there is no way he wont try to fight and have it in the game. Hell, it was even Superman's alt costume in the PS2 justice league game, which surprised me big time. maybe someone can post a pic, i dont know how lol. he also has his resurrection black suit he dawned right after Doomsday killed him.... which is the best selling comic of all time right?

When asked about alt costumes ed boon is vague and dances around the houses, so that to me says the answer is yes we want to put alt costumes in the game but i cant confirm for sure yet cos we might not have time to do it, cos we have a deadline and when deadlines get broken money is lost.
But if they dont put them in they will go into dc vs mk gold which will come out two years later with all features included.
Like umk had all the characters they didnt have time to put into/chose not to put into mk3...why sell something once when you can sell it twice.

dont think they will have batman in film armour outfit as its probally copyright issues or some crap like that. Got to remember this is america the land of lawsuits and legal b*****t.

Personally i would prefer costomization of looks option rather than an alt costume that way every one is happy..lets face it midway are hardly fashion designers when it comes to putting together a decent suit.

I also agree with the guy above sonya does look like a man that render of her was probally a dolph lundrem picture from rocky 4 with computer graphics drawn on.
But apart from that as a whole the game looks really really good in all aspects and im looking forward to it.

but i agree about the idea on customizing the costumes. even if its as little as making the colors a shade darker or even letting us fight unmasked if we want (since the vast majority of characters will have masks on) The Flash's mask annoys me. lol and Scorpion's flaming skull will look awesome in HD!
