As I said in the other thread. This is something that should have been put
on the table from the very beginning of production. I mean seriously, who
does palette swaps today? Going back to basics as far as gameplay, that
is wonderful, but going back to basics as in lame palette swaps is BAD!

From the mumbling that I heard from booN's mouth I sense that there are no alts - for now.

its hard to believe that there wont be any alt costumes in the game since the last 4 MK games had alts. I'm sure the game is just about done too, they're probly just fixing glitches and what-not. With 4 more months before the game is released, they cant make 20 costumes? if they were to put one guy just on that task, he would have a week per character. Also they are worried about getting DC's permission on the alt costumes... just ask them. there were alts for every character in the "Justice League Heroes" video game. Hell, let DC pick the suits!

it would suck extreme amounts of balls if they didnt have alternate costumes, for me its oneof my favourite elements of any fightin game...BATMAN IN HIS DARK KNIGHT OUTFIT...badass...and also a human reptile would be sweet

For the last time, they can't use costumes or looks from movies.

Based on previous mk game experiences with extra content like the "super unlockables from mkd and such, going on Ed Boon's comments in the interviews there are no alt costumes, just palette swaps.

That sucks, like a vacuum cleaner. I love alt costumes, it adds variety and gives you another option if you don't like the primary costume.

I understand that the dc characters costumes need preapproval from dc but that in NO WAY excuses the decision to not include alt costumes for mk characters. Alt costumes are at this point a basic option for every fighting game on the market. I like the fact that mk always changes and includes new game modes and engines but to lose something as simple as alt costumes that adds so much to the game as simple as it is, is just so utterly depressing and disappointing that I feel like someone just told me christmas has been cancelled this year.

Although I will say that I could live without alt costumes if the game included some kind of option to edit the colors or appearance of the preexisting fighters. I would be okay with that.

i agree w/ u 100% Thrawn. The alt costumes are a must! but if they aren't gonna be in the game, at least have some kinda customizing option. i suggested earlier something as simple as fighting unmasked.

Boon confirmed that they aren't allowed to use movie alts, so no Dark Knight. But there are still other alts available for him like Batman Beyond and Azrael-Batman. If the player was allowed to be in control of our own color-swapping scheme, we can make a Batman-Beyond inspired batman, or a black-suited superman. that would be sweet, and probly wouldn't even be hard to program.

if we could control the colors, could u imagine the College Football grudge matches going on online? a Purple and Gold Scorpion from Louisiana versus a Blue and Orange Sub-Zero from Florida. that would be fun. haha

If I recall correctly, then it was stated before that the MK team had to undergo a lot of altering with the DC models (to the point of completely redesigning some of them), before getting DC's approval.
While this hindered the game's process (and not just the graphical part), catching up could be the reason for axing alts. Farfetched but plausible.

lol, Yeah. I think it'll suck without alts or atleast give us more characters to make up for no alts. I would love a 32 character roster, reveal 16 before the game, leave 16 secret.

based on ed boons answer and how it tip-toes about when given..my assumption is that there will be no alternate costumes but more likely..coour alterations, like mk 1 and mk 2...still sucks though...would love to see batman in an armor plated bat-suit

Don't forget that Ed Boon said that they may support DLC in the future. They could release new costumes or arenas or something.

Somehow that's what I expected, and it is ok. This game idea is worse than trilogy, after all.

there are ganna be alt costumes but you have to download them of Xbox Live.

u know what would be kool.... if Captain Marvel's alt was Black Adam. and Hal Jordan's alt was Jon Stewart. identical moves and powers, just a model change. its only wishful thinking, i know its not gonna happen.
