aquaman is a pretty decent hero in the comics realm. actually depending on if he's hydrokenetic or not he could kick some ass.
and the list really doesn't clash with kotaku if we assume that captain marvel is the prototypical superhero and that aquaman is the mystical one.

And don't you think that's a little narrow and googly-eyed to be a shark? Mmm, more like, oh, A GIANT SNAKE?! Confirmed Reptile and Jade and Cyrax, because that's the sand of Jade's Desert it's breaking through, and not water.
Lol I doubt but I hope thats a snake.

I think this was just art for Shark Week.
It would be kinda cool to see Aquaman (the one with the hook) as a character but who knows. We're down to the last few characters and I'm not sure if Aquaman would be one of them. I remember seeing an interview with Ed Boon saying that there would be non-playable characters in story mode. Maybe Aquaman is one of them and this pic is part of the story?
I think that Ed Boon is just kidding with us .I mean the stage is the sea as you can see .Also the shark is onother point to prove that it is just on the sea .
Well Ed is just kidding .Also dont forget that he has already said that Aquaman wont be in the game at all .

Yes he is.

Obviously a joke. Everyone knows Aquaman fucking sucks. It took Justice League the animated series to make him look cool.

They used the nineties comic design, but, I dunno. Don't you think it needed some spikes and chains to be really cool? Maybe some big shoulder pads and giant guns?

There was a whole heap of mystic bullshit through the eighties, too.

What's with the spear hook thingy though? I always wondered how he got it. I'd go look but since Mick is here lol just easier to ask him.

Someone called Charybdis stole his power to talk to fish and dunked his hand in a pool of pirhanas. The harpoon hand, like the long hair and beard, were just retarded nineties design. Ergo, MK fans love it.
Quite a few years later Aquaman was sucking (again) and the nineties were over, so the logical shake-up was to go back to a more traditional design (the harpoon was well and truly a joke by then).
San Diego sinks, Aquaman sucks again, new Aquaman sucks, old Aquaman wasn't Aquaman but a freaky creature of the deep, old not Aquaman died, new Aquaman hangs around to see the title cancelled again.
Apparently there's a new-new Aquaman coming in Final Crisis.
I'm inclined to expect something traditional, but with a better treatment.
There's always the outside chance old Aquaman becomes a new New God, or something.

I really have no idea whether or not this means aquaman is in, but that picture isn't a reference to anyone but him, that's aquaman. whether its a joke or not is to be determined.
however, one thing i'd like to point out that i think people take too literal. I've heard boon say 12 on each side, 11 on each side, and 10 on each side.... my point is, from this point out in game design, most of the efforts are going towards content. Fatalities, special moves, stages, characters, etc. So, when Boon says how many characters are in the game, even HE doesn't know until its finished. They won't stop at 10 on each side if they have time left, they'll get in as many characters as they can do effectively with their time constraint.
In other words, who says its 100% confirmed that there's only 3 slots left on each side? I'm willing to bet the pink slip for my car that there will be more than 10 characters for each side when the game launches, and I'm not counting downloadable content or uber hidden ones like Jimmy Plamiotti, I'm talking more than 10 on each side of legitimate characters. I don't know how many more, maybe as many as 13 or 14 for each side, but there will be more than 10 per side, If they have time.
Saying there's only 10 for each side is so that he doesn't promise 12 for each side and they only get 10 in and they end up being liars. Saying theres 10 for each side is the safe route, thats all. They will get as many in as they can.
Who says Boon didn't wake up yesterday and say man Aquaman would be a good addition since I just came up with this amazing fatality Idea, let's put him in! It could easily happen that way, that's how games are made and ideas are born. They even touch upon that in the MKast's, saying how whatever Boon says, goes, and how him and the team are ALWAYS coming up with new ideas. They want to make the best game with the most content possible, for us.
