The overall design of Mk Deception is way too alike to MK Deadly Alliance.

Every single Mortal Kombat game has had a different design as far as the backgrounds and sprites. It almost felt like you weren't playing the same game all because of the designs.

However, MKD is alike to MKDA in all forms: stage designs and 3D sprites. Somehow do you think it should've had a different design so it would feel like a separate game like the other games had?

Well there using the same engine as MKDA, so no doubt it'll look simialr. I dont mind at all, I think MKD looks good. I just hope they looked at the weak areas of MKDA (gameplay not fatalities etc) and improved upon them...

Yeah, at the moment it feels a lot like Deadly Alliance 2.0 than a new game. I'm actually wanting to see some of the new stuff like dashes and combo breakers.

Quick question: How exactly are the new stage designs the same?

Well, they're using the same things they had for MKD for both the old and new stages.

I don't think the designs look that similiar. The gameplay is the same yes, but faster so even that looks a bit different.

Only thing I see the same is that the game is 3-D.

MK4 was 3d too, but it looked different from Deadly Alliance.

MKD doesn't look different from Deadly Alliance.

That's my point. All of the MK games carry a different sprite and stage design while MKD shares the same as MKDA.

I don't see what was so different from MK to MKII to MKIII. Gameplay was almost identical between MK and MKII, a more evolved combo system was added in III, but anyone who played MKII could get a quick handle for MKIII.

I'm not talking about gameplay.

I'm talking about design. For each game it was different. Look at Scorpion's sprites from all the games. That's what I mean.

I have a complaint since this is the last mk on these systems we have now. Wouldnt you rather just have the game more based on fighting then mini games.I dont have a problem with konquest its just the puzzle game seems like the most pointless thing in the game. Its like they just needed something to fill in the cd. Wouldnt you rather have more fighters and backgrounds in the game then these mini games same with chess.I kinda think Boon is forgetting that mk is a fighting game and thats what fans want is fighting where not buying mkd for the minigames we want a good ol fun fighting game.Anyways thats how i feel about it. I dont mean to sound picky but i love MK and i dont want it to become something its not.

That's true, but MKD doesn't look exactly the same as MKDA. The boards and characters look crisper and cleaner to me. Plus, MK4 is a whole another story.

Agreed 100%. The gameplay and control was much tighter from MK1 to MK2. The same with MK2 to MK3. The same holds true with MK: DA to MK: Deception

Don't forget that we had 3 versions of MK3, including UMK3 and MKT, before we got MK4 which wasn't much different than the 2D versions of the game. I for one hope that MKD to MKDA, is like MK2 to MK1 in terms of progress and just plain quality.

The differences between MK and MK2 were incredible, graphically, sound-wise, playability-wise, the number of characters, et cetera. Mortal Kombat Deception seems so far to be just like MK2 in that regard. It's gonna be fantastic.

I wholly disagree on the statement about the stages, what with the introduction of multiple tiers and death traps and all. Although I suppose I do agree about the sprites and, to a smaller extent, the gameplay.

MKDA was great, so what is the problem if MKD reminds graphically a bit MKDA? Hope just for more fatalities by character... :/

I agree with the thread, MK to MK2, MK2 to MK3, MK3 to MK4 and MK4 to MK:DA were all huge leaps from each other, and dispite how Deception is looking, it just seems like an improvement over Deadly Alliance, rather than a huge leap, something MK games are known for, well until now that is.

I enjoyed MK:DA alot when it first came out, I think that with all the Kontent, Fatalities, Modes, and Characters, this game will have a brand new feeling and will transform Mortal Kombat forever.
