In MK there's no need for it unless they have more revealing, skimpy clothes for the woman fighters(think Sareena or Mileena here hehe)

The question I ask, and this is not Mortal Kombat-related, specifically, so don't pull any "It's a fighting game!" crap here: How is violence more acceptable than nudity? How is taking the human body, carving it up, spilling blood and causing harm to others (in some cases, ending their lives) more acceptable than showing a little boob?

Now, I live my life by morals, but I am not offended by the concept of nudity, especially when it serves an artistic purpose. We get all this violence in movies these days, and tickets are available to kids. As soon as people start dealing with real and mature concepts, though, it becomes "adults only stuff." No wonder we are becoming less cultured and stupid.

Mortal Kombat is not the most cultured series out there, but within its limits, I believe sex fits perfectly. You can not tell me that anyone who dresses like Mileena, with the instincts of an animal, would not pounce someone she wanted to turn into an ally. A relationship was implied with Baraka, and while I don't think there is need to show them in the act (say all you want about the Reiko thing, I'd be much more opposed to seeing Baraka going at it), or anything, I don't think the word "sex" should be taboo in their character profiles.

That being said, I don't think nudity is the best concept ever. I'm not particularly for it, because it would take up memory, and there's not real purpose behind it being implemented into the fight system, or something. The moment naked bodies start slashing each other up is the moment sex and violence become too blurred for me, and I personally lose interest in the gameplay.

The one exception I can think of, are maybe Fatalities. For example, I can imagine a Kabal-like Fatality, only instead of the deformed face, a female fighter uses her boobs. Or Reiko/Baraka can put up a curtain and suddenly their pants drop to their ankles (you can see just a little bit under the bottom) and horrified screams are heard.

I also actually really like the idea of a female fighter shoving her panties in the mouth of an opponent before she finishes them. That's something I can imagine Mileena, or even Sonya doing.

Sex is a concept that I think needs to be embraced by Mortal Kombat. Some examples of how sex could be used in the next Mortal Kombat:

* Mileena has had her faced swapped with Kitana, and she's now ruling Edenia. She has always wanted this, but in her fantasies she always had a king. She picks a new character to serve as king. She does not want to give herself away as Mileena, so she tries to rule Edenia peacefully, so she channels her monster into her love life with this new man.

* Kitana is now ugly, and in the Edenian prisons, and there, to keep her sanity, somewhat, she sleeps with the prisoners she shares a cell with. She feels degraded, but she's becoming more of an animal to stay alive.

* Ashrah could achieve purification and awaken in Earthrealm. Considering this new mortal realm a heaven for herself, she discovers, partying, alcohol and sex. It'd be an odd direction to take her character, but I'd honestly prefer it to the cliched "I got out and I'm still a good girl" route. Ashrah could be given a new western look (maybe a small black top and jeans) and a more "sexy" attitude, now that she's "free."

Some unlockable artwork and cutscenes would not be too distasteful, either. I think the idea of nudity and sex being taboo in Mortal Kombat is ridiculous.

it could be possible if they would add the "torn clothing" system that was originally supposed to be in mkda, but was scrapped.

but other then that, i see no real reason for nudity in a fighting game.

It's been featured in a couple of Doa's FMVS,so why not MK?I personally wouldn't mind,but it's a game.Games don't get me "Excited" in terms of sex in video games.But it still certainly wouldn't be terrible....

I don't get this line of reasoning, though. It's OK to let you kids play a game where you can literally rip a man's heart out from his chest, or decapitate a woman, but as soon as there is even a hint of nudity, the game suddenly deserves a boycott?

Personally, part of me hopes that the MK Team do this, just so that there are boycotts about the nudity, just so wiser people can hammer in the "Westerners are afraid of nudity but embrace violence" point.

As I said, I actually have morals and am very reserved about my sex life, but I think exposure to sex is far less harmful than exposure to gratuitous violence. Sex is something that people should be educated on, and I get really annoyed when a movie about a girl making grown up decisions about her body gets an R rating, while a movie about an idiot going around and slashing up teenagers (while those teenagers have mindless sex, by the way) is made accessible to children by the MPAA.

Now, I'm sure MK would not explore sexuality too artistically, mind you, but I just think it's really quite stupid sex is a no-no, but violence is a "YES!"

One thing I think the new game should have, is swearing. It would fit the MK world brilliantly. I suppose you could have a mode where you censor it out, like the option that lets you turn off blood, but I think a Scorpion who says "Get the fuck over here!" would be much cooler than regular Scorpion.

Nudity will only turn me away from MK. I already can't stand the females being dressed in unserious, unrespectable outfits, and now seeing them naked will only make me turn away from the series entirely.

I also think it'll reduce the sales of MK because it won't be just a "mature" game, it'll be some x-rated game and that means most parents won't want their teenagers (MK's biggest buyers) to play MK anymore.

Female fans of the series will also be lost, I think, because then MK will be seen as some "playboy" fighting game instead of a what it's suppose to be.

Anyway, who cares. This will never happen in MK8 or any MK game so I'm not worried.

I have no idea why north americans are so shy about nudity, especially the female body in general.

Now im not sure that nudity would suit an MK game but i wish more game developers wouldnt shy away from it completely. Conan comes to mind recently as it had nudity but in a way it was pretty subtle and suited the game.

you can have a good amount of nudity in a game and keep it at an M rating.
Though id rather MK make a gritty game , with blood gore and skimpy outfits for the girls. Yes , its cliche but fit girls look great so why not show that.

Well there was some nudity in a older game. does any remember the secret move from Killer Instinct.??? It was Orchid's secret move where she opens up her top, pops out her "chest" and then shows it to the oppenent, the other fight pops his/hers eyes out and then falls back. I've done it on mistake many times and thought it was funny. I tried doing it but only perform it on mistakes.

Nudity in MK, that would make the "M" rating into a more advance rating to a "RM" (Real Mature)" rating and would have sellers I.D the buyers to make sure that they are of legal age of 21 and above. Just like if you were going to rent an Adult Film.... That's my P.O.V. on this matter...

Well the villain, a female, appears completely topless throughout the end of the game except they don't put nipples on her.

I had no problem with that honestly because it treated her seriously, not like some sex object. She appeared almost naked because she was a pregnant mutant so they gave her a more natural look.

MK will not treat naked people seriously though. Just look at how they treat Mileena.

Mortal Kombat is about KOMBAT. Everything else, sexual, funny, scary, is secondary.

Personally, one of my biggest problems with the Dead or Alive game is that you can't take ANY girl in that game seriously. They're all big-breasted, bouncing dolls in skimpy outfits that only exist to get gamers aroused. *jiggle jiggle*... the unlockable schoolgirl, bondage leather, and bikini outfits are a testiment to that. It's a crime, really.

I'm as normal and red-blooded a male as anyone, but the ladies of Mortal Kombat are sexy WITHOUT trying to be overly sexual. Kitana was beautiful back in the MKII days kicking my ass and doing it with elegance and style.

Any "sexual" content is actually character development (usually) in the MK storylines. Mileena is easily more provocative and sexual than Kitana, but that stems from her apparent unease and own inadequacies compared to her prettier and more esteemed "twin." Li Mei is sexual because she is a beautiful and naive slave girl, who likely spent her life in submission one way or another before liberating herself, while still harboring those similar feelings and subconscious decisions to dress and act like she does.

I don't have a problem with nudity, and if done right I wouldn't mind it, but I don't think it has a place in a serious fighting game. Look what happened to BMXXX... it was a catastrophe.

If you really want to see Sareena and Kitana's love-pillows, trying getting a petition signed for a Mortal Kombat anime. Hardcore fans like myself already saw Chun-li's wonderfully perky goods in the Street Fighter Animated Movie... Tekken fans got to oogle Anna's stuff in the Tekken anime... Sophia from Battle Arena Toshinden showed off her stuff in her anime appearance... Mai from Fatal Fury was bouncy and out in her various anime incarnations... If it's a fighting game with a hot chick and it becomes and anime, you can bet there'll be a the expected shower scene....

Nudity isn't necessary in a fighter like this. Torn clothes and what not would be a plus. We don't need to see any nipple, va-jay-jay or penis in a fighter. Like someone else said in an above post, leave MK Nudity to fan art.

Females in skimpy costumes is fine (as long as the MK team actually learn to make female faces that don't look like inbred shemales for a change), but full blown nudity is just too weird.

I don't play MK for sex, in fact, I'm no prude, but I like to keep sex out of my videogames. Pixels erotica is just disturbing. MK is supposed to be ridiculous, cheesy, and violent. Slutty characters go with the theme, but nudity is probably a bit far.
