Nice read, PNF, I like how you brought up what was written about Shang tsung being human (that information can be found on the Official MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero website). You made one mistake though; Kenshi's also human and is not immortal. Kenshi's Konquest stated that he had been pursuing Shang Tsung for over a decade before the Deadly Alliance was formed, after Shang Tsung left him to die in the tomb, which means that Shang Tsung consumed the warrior king souls before within a few years before the Mortal Kombat tournament was held (at the latest before Sub-Zero went on his mission for Shinnok's Amulet).
. Anyway, Shang Tsung's been the main villain for more than one game, and has always had a powerful influence on the storyline, but I doubt that he'll be a survivor. He's made too many enemies at this point, and with all of them coming back at once, he'll definitely be watching his back during this last tournament/war. Between Liu Kang, Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Kenshi, even Shujinko (he always wanted to defeat Shang Tsung in the tournament), there's no way that a severely reduced shape-shifting sorcerer can handle all of them, especially if it's one-on-one fighting. Heck, the rest of the people who died in MK:D may still even want a piece of him because of Liu Kang's death and their own, so that adds Kung Lao, Jax, Sonya, Johnny Cage, and Kitana to the roster.
10-on-1 = Shang Tsung gets PWN3|)!

Shang Tsung, imo, is a very cool character and he actually has a very interesting storyline. I wish we got more backstory on him as to what he did to anger the gods and how he became one of Shao Kahn's servants. I think this will probably be his last MK game, and I hope Kenshi is the one to take him down.

Actually Jerrod, I didn't say Kenshi was immortal, since I don't know how many years Kenshi being manipulated by Shang Tsung, I just said. "So and so years later". Edit: Oh, now I see what you mean. The truth is I forgot about that part when I first wrote it, so I had to go back and insert it in...

Well, it's Thursday, and no discussion was generated for Shang Tsung, so I'm going to cut it short here; people may now discuss the entire MK1 cast and respond to anything that they didn't get a chance to before. This only goes for the MK1 characters discussed in this thread already, and not rumour characters (no Nimbus Terrafaux [stupidest name ever] or Ermac). Of course, since Noob Saibot and Classic Sub-Zero are one-in-the-same, one may discuss Noob Saibot's ending storyline.
You may begin discussing... NOW!
Let's see.... General comments.

Scorpion: My favorite character, has been since day 1. But man... did the MK Team really take his story and just piss on it. May he not only have his revenge, but also get involved with the Noob Saibot storyline so this way the MK Team can redeem themselves for destroying what many alledge as their favorite character. But I'm sure that regardless, he'll live on to the next generation.

Older Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot: The Older Sub-Zero had an interesting backstory, but didn't truly become interesting until it was revealed what happened to him after his demise at the hand of Scorpion. I can't imagine he'll be back next gen, but they better make his story in this game a damn epic one.

Raiden: Well though he is a popular character, I feel he should pass the torch to Fujin for the next generation. I imagine Raiden's going to get a tragic end.

Liu Kang: Well, him I'm not too sure about. If nothing else, I'd like to see confront the person who reanimated his body. Then he could either marry Kitana or ascend to the Heavens to be forever remembered as MK's greatest warrior and be a legendary icon for the next-gen fighters. (Which could work even if he marries Kitana)

Sonya: Her... well, I think she should be the one to kill Kano and marry Johnny Cage (if their relationship is canon)

Johnny Cage: Hopefully he'll have a worthwhile story this time around.

Reptile: He should escape his endless servitude to evil masters regardless if he lives or dies.

Kano: He should just die.

Goro: I think he should be killed by Kung Lao.

Shang Tsung: Killed by either Liu Kang or Kenshi

Scorpion: Give him his dignity back my destroying Quan Chi, is that so much to ask?

Noob Saibot: Since I missed Noob Saibot/Elder Sub-Zeros discussion I have on thing to say: Next-Gen Boss.

Raiden: All I have to say is that hes going in the right direction. He's not evil, just really pissed off.

Scorpion: I'm pretty sure he will show up in the nex Gen of games considering he is one of the most popular and loved characters so i'm not worried about him.

Older Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot: I really didnt feel him. He's a good character but I really dont have an opinion on wether he lives or dies.

Raiden: Like Scorpion, he is another fan favorite, so if he survives no big deal. But maybe he should go away and give Fujin some spotlight for awhile. I love Raiden, but he's been in every Mortal Kombat game except Special Forces. He should take a break. Because he really deserves one.

Liu Kang: He can die. He's had his time as the hero so put his soul to rest. He can be like ''The Great Kung Lao'' to the Next generation of fighters.

Sonya: I love Sonya. I dont want her to die. If this is her last game, they should just have her retire from fighting instead of killing her so there can be room for a new leading heroine in the Next generation of fighters

Johnny Cage: Johnny's cool, but they should just kill him and not have him return.

Reptile: I think Reptile is ok. wether he lives or dies is up to midway. I wouldnt mind seeing him in future games though.

Kano: Death by Sonya so she can retire from having to fight instead of chasing his ass.

Goro: Kitana should kill him for betraying her to go with Shao Kahn.

Shang Tsung: Killed by either Liu Kang, Kenshi, Lung Lao, or Li-Mei(Please let her be good)

Raiden- should take a break, passing his job to Fujin
Older Subby/Noob- He should die... but I am not certain on who shoudl kill him.
Johnny Cage- marries Sonya and have a son, who will participate in future MK tournaments
Sonya Blade- *see Johnny*
Scorpion- either he has his soul rest in peace after killing Quan Chi (though that's what I feel) or return working for the Elder Gods
Kano- Get killed by Sonya (Either the famous Kiss of Death or her Leg Grab Fatality)
Goro- Will die fighting Kung Lao
Shang Tsung- either by Liu, Kung Lao or Kenshi
Reptile- I wouldn't mind if he came back in future MK Games.
EDIT: Awesome thread, PNF.
EDIT #2- Liu Kang (forgot him ^^;;) He should live married with Kitana or die remembered as a great hero.

Those sound pretty good, but do you think there will be any more MK games? I mean, if they are planning on going on, then why would they call MK8 "Mortal Kombat: Armegeddon"?

It's the last game for the curret generation consoles. That's all that the Armageddon title is hinting at, and nothing more; it's been said numerous times that there will be more MK games.
Anyway, to catch up on the characters that I didn't complain about...
Raiden: I only started liking this guy as of MKM: Sub-Zero, so he's a fairly recent favourite of mine (Smoke, Reiko, Khameleon, and Stryker still pwn him tongue). As a God, I think that it wouldn't make sense for him to be killed off in this game... But I think that because Fujin is now the official protector of Earthrealm, I see now reason for Raiden to not be placed on the back-burner for the future; let Fujin become the leader he deserves to be in the next game. Also, considering Raiden's new persona, it may be possible that his judgment could be clouded, and he could target a lot of potential allies as enemies of Earthrealm. Let's have him and Fujin fight for the title of Earthrealm protector, and whoever loses, winds up in chains.
Liu Kang: Kill him again. He was finally resting in peace, and people wanted him to come back as a ZOMBIE. Someone please put him back 6-feet-under and out of his misery. Having fought and defeated some of the most powerful beings in existence, he deserves to take a long-awaited break. Maybe have him and Kitana rule Edenia (let her succeed Sindel), and perhaps one of their offspring could become the defender of Edenia or Earthrealm; I wouldn't mind that actually.

Liu Kang-
I think Liu Kang's time is over. He's had his run as the hero, but it's time for him to pass the torch. I think he should settle his zombie business, then do one final heroic deed and then move on to the Heavens to rest in peace. I don't see him becoming King of Edenia and would rather his relationship with Kitana end on a bittersweet note. In the next gen he'll be remembered as a great hero, like the first Kung Lao.

Johnny Cage-
Like Liu, it's time for Cage to go. I don't think he'll die, but he does need to retire. What should happen in Armageddon is, after being killed by the Deadly Alliance, Cage finally reflects on himself....or something....and fights to prove himself and to get with Sonya. People complain that the Cage/Sonya thing isn't canon, but seriously, Cage really doesn't have much else going for him. When it's over, he and Sonya ride off into the sunset.

Sonya Blade-
I think Sonya's going to be pretty busy in Armageddon as I think she's going to get drawn into the Black/Red Dragon conflict...which the Tekunin may be involved with as well. She'll settle her business with Kano and whoever else....maybe haunted in some way by her defeat/death to add a little internal conflict. I think this would be a good time for her to retire. I say she hooks up with Johnny Cage and...as stated...ride off into the sunset. They have a daughter who joins the Special Forces and shows up in the next gen.

Kano-
Kano's overdue to die. His act has gotten very old and I personally am just tired of him. He'll get drawn into the big Black/Red Dragon fight.....hopefully, I'd rather that than see him whore himself to the boss again...and eventually die at the hands of either Sonya, Mavado, or Kabal.

Raiden-
Raiden's been a long-time favorite of mine and his story got a nice change in Deception. I foresee two possible outcomes for Raiden. One is he heroically sacrifices himself against the big evil and dies....not sure how since Deception showed Raiden technically can't die. The other is his patience continues to dwindle and his rage increases. Eventually he starts hating the Elder Gods too and decides to take power for himself in the next game.
So either Raiden dies heroically or returns in the next gen as a villain. In either case, set up Fujin to become Earth's new guardian.

Noob Saibot-
Noob's emerged as a surprise in the storyline. I think in Armageddon we'll see him solidifying his position as ruler of the Netherealm and trying to eliminate any remaining threats or connections to his past. It'll be a huge conflict, and in the end I see him taken down in grand fasion by Sub-Zero and Scorpion, with Sareena and perhaps Smoke playing pivotal roles. As much as I like Noob, this storyline should be resolved along with all the others in Armageddon.

Scorpion-
It's difficult for me to discuss Scorpion's story because technically the Scorpion I knew doesn't exist anymore....but anyway, I think Scorpion will be sidetracked by Noob Saibot who'll offer an alliance...or just want him dead. Scorpion, learning who Noob really is, will be disgusted with what his former rival has allowed himself to become and make it his mission to destroy the evil he helped create. During the big Netherealm battle, Scorpion will encounter and settle his business with Quan Chi. Once the Netherealm situation is taken care of, Scorpion will return to his mission as Champion of the Elder Gods and help destroy the big evil. As we know, Scorpion will never go away, so I suspect he'll remain the Elder Gods Champion and will return to face future threats.

Reptile-
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Reptile. If Onaga using him as a vessal had any affect on him. If Khameleon returns, how would that affect him? Whatever happens, I think Reptile should finally realize what Shao Kahn did to his race and stand up for himself. Unfortunately, I don't see Reptile winning...much less surviving...but I do if nothing else he goes down in blaze of glory.

Goro-
Goro's latest near-death experience was one too many and I think it's time for him to die for good. In Armageddon, I think Goro will be helping Shao Kahn rebuild his power, and possibly fight Motaro or maybe even Kintaro. But in the end, I think Goro will die at the hands of Kung Lao.

Shang Tsung-
Like many others, I think it's time for Shang to go. I suspect he'll die at the hands of Liu Kang....but I've no concrete thoughts or opinions on Shang Tsung.

Liu Kang: This Grand Champion's time is over, one too many villians defeated. If he does not have his original body back, that should be his main goal first. Then, he'll team up with Ermac and defeat the approaching threat he sensed at the end of Deception. Another interesting note is who was controlling his body. Wether or not it is the One Being or someone else. If it is someone else, there is another threat for Liu. But in the end I can see him sacrificing himself, maybe just as the realms start to begin to vanish, he breaks the Komidogu and the almost-near extinction of the realms. Then he will become an icon like the original Kung Lao, and this time he will stay dead! (But maybe he can make cameos as a spirit now and then.) wink

Johnny Cage: The movie star and no block-buster hit for me. His storyline is one of the worst in MK, and unless they find a way to improve it in Armageddon, there is no hope. Technically since he has no enemies, there are no rivalries *yet* that he can surely die in. Maybe an attack on his movie studio can be demolished by assassins and he and Mokap can join up to get revenge. I can't really see anything else for him to do. In the end, if he doesn't get the boot, he will retire, maybe with or without Sonya. Then they can have a son and train him for future threats. Maybe even killed like Jun was in Tekken later on. Then his son will get revenge. (A little cliche, but whatever...)

Sonya Blade: I think the Special Forces should be eradicated. All the characters in that group have grown far too lame, biggest of all (next to Jax) is Sonya. I see this game as the end of her, or at least her career. She should find Kenshi and Cyrax, make sure they're okay, then settle some scores. A four-way fight between her, Kano, Kabal, and Mavado would be kick-ass. Sonya and Kabal could join up to kill Kano and Mavado, and then whatever Sonya wanted to do with Kabal. Kill him or let him live? If she doesn't perish, the above thing should happen with Cage.

Sub-Zero: He has alot going for him right now, and even if he didn't he still wouldn't be going anywhere. There are so many possibilites for him - Baraka wants revenge for his men, Hotaru was looking for him, Sareena's mysterious personality, Sektor and the Tekunin, Noob and Smoke, and Frost's ressurection. I don't think Baraka or Hotaru will get involved, but the rest will. Sareena could be a possible traitor and threat to the Lin Kuei, or a help. What if she has a love connection with Noob and is spying for him? Or maybe she is torn between the two Subs? It is heavily rumored Frost is a wraith with Noob now. I would like her to turn out to be Sub's long lost sister. That would create more tension. Sektor still poses a big threat. We have no idea how big his clan has gotten. With all these possibilites now and in the future, he is bound to stay.

Scorpion: His story, I believe, has turned to the worst. What happened to the neutral, unfeeling Scorpion we all know and love? Gone. He is actually...good now. He'll get mixed up in the whole Noob-Sub thing because it is partially his fault and will help destroy him. Maybe well he's in the Netherealm he can form a pact with Moloch and Drahmin, and all three can hunt down Quan Chi in revenge. Then after that ordeal, he'll continue on to destroy Onaga and save the realms. One thing is for sure though, Scorpion ain't going anywhere. Although I believe he will stay the Elder God's lacky, I wish he could go back to his old ways.

Scorpion: MK's poster boy is gonna be in the series no matter what. His design and moves have improved since MK1 but his story has been driven straight into the ground. He is a hugely recognisable character who I hope can come back. He should be the wild card, no alleigances, no grudges but caught up in the fire-fight. Wants what he wants and doesn't care who gets hurt or who he has to help in order to get it.

Noob Saibot: Noob Saibot is an interesting character. he has a great design and great moves, his story is ok but not great. Its not really interesting. I want Ashrah to gain her freedom so I'm more than willing to sacrifice him. Ashrah and Sub-Zero hating each other because she did what he couldn't would be nice but because both play for Team Good they can't do anything about it.

Raiden: I love everything about dark Raiden except his god-damn design. I miss his flowing blue and white robes that give him an elegent yet surreal appearence. The dull grey padded costume is ugly and he should get his old hat back. He looked his best in MKDA and his worst in MKD. But storywise I love the 'take-no-bullshit' attitude. Until it endangers Sonya or her allies. If he harms one hair on their heads then I'll be pissed but for now hes awesome.

Liu Kang: He should return. Only because hes MK's champion, but he needs the other fighters. He certainly didn't do to well against Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. I wonder who it was the ressurected him. Raiden or Havik? It makes sense for both of them. Raiden wanting a competent defender of Earth unlike Shujinko. And Havik wanted chaos between him and Kahn. He'll be back. I just hope he's interesting and gets a new costume. Hes been wearing those trousers since MK2....ewww....

Sonya: Loses Johnny Cage and Jax. I don't want her story to end yet of course and so she needs something to keep her going. She's been portrayed as an outright hero since day one so it seems the only decent thing to do to her now is kill the ones she cares for and get her darker, harder and more pissed off than ever. Reveal an emotional side under her tough as nails appearence. Around the time of MK3 it was said that Sheeva killed Cage and Sonya went ape and nearly killed Sheeva before she could retreat. Thats what I want. An absolute psycho Sonya who brutally murders who ever kills her friends Jax and Johnny. I'll miss Johnny though but sigh a relief when Jax dies. wink

Johnny Cage: He'll die but save Sonya's life. Survivor's guilt is horrible and should be enough to tip Sonya right over the edge.

Reptile: Find Khameleon and breed like feckin' rabbits. I mean, non-stop. Eventually have an armada of saurians at his disposal in the next gen.

Kano: Killed by Sonya BEFORE Cage dies. I don't want him to kill Cage because that means Sonya would have to kill him and drag it out another ten years. He should die now and whoever kills Cage should be Sonya's next problem for a game.

Goro: They may as well kill him. They've completely ruined him now. Alliegance switching doesn't suit him. Just bring Sheeva and Kintaro into the next gen. Goro can stay behind and think about what hes done.

Shang Tsung: Shang Tsung is originally from Earthrealm isn't he? Well its time to get back to his roots. I'm not saying he should switch alliegances and I'm not saying he should invade Earth. But we need to know how he made the switch to evil and Outworld. I hope to see that in MK8.

Well at Jerrod;s request here is Reptiles story enjoy and let me know what you think.

Statistics:
Age: Presumed to be 100s of years old but the true age is unknown
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 189LBs.
Place of Origin: Zaterra later he lives in Outworld
Game Apperances: Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Mortal Kombat 4 Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, Mortal Kombat Deception(non-playable character).
Race: Saurian
Allies: Shao Kahn, Nitara, Khameleon(only other known member living of his race apart from Chameleon.)
Enemies: Cyrax, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Kitana
Weapons used: axe and Kirehashi (given to him by Nitara) also the weapon prefered of use to the Saurians.
Alignment: Evil

Story:
Reptile's story starts out by him being recruited by Shang Tsung to take part in the Mortal Kombat I tornment on Earthrealm on behalf on his master Shao Kahn(whom he was raised to fight for since his childhood rather than be put into slavery liek other surving members of his race.) After they lost the tournment Reptile returned to Outworld to countinue protecting his master from harm during the events of Mortal Kombat II, and then went on to receive special missions from Shao Kahn himself, who had promised to release the remaining members of his race from slavery if he would unquestioningly do his bidding. Such an opportunity arose when Kitana had escaped into the unknown regions of Earthrealm during Kahn's invasion of that world. Reptile was sent to find and, if necessary, kill Kitana. He did not succeed.

After the war was over, with Kahn defeated and both Earth and Edenia free, Reptile was brought back as a prisoner to Edenia, and tried there for genocide, a bitter irony since his own race once was the victim of the very same act preformed by Shao Kahn. When the fallen Elder God Shinnok invaded Edenia, Reptile grasped the opportunity to join Shinnok's Army of Darkness as a commander, hoping to convince Shinnok to revive his near extinct race. After being on the losing side once more, he escaped into Outworld again and rejoined his old masters, in spite of the fact that neither had ever kept their promises towards him.

Because of his state of separation from the other members of his race, and especially his matriarch, Reptile had begun to show signs of devolution. Where he used to mask his appearance by posing as a human, this proved to be no longer possible. By the events of Deadly Alliance, Reptile had nearly gone insane and had a significantly changed appearance, including a tail. When Kahn was apparently killed in a surprise attack by the Deadly Alliance, Reptile quickly found a new mistress, the vampire Nitara. She also cleverly manipulated him into doing her bidding by dropping hints at her knowledge of his lost civilization. She gave him the Kirehashi blade, which was an artifact of the Zaterran civilization, as proof. This led to a series of events where Reptile ended up accidentally discovering the almost fully incubated dragon egg of Onaga the Dragon King. The egg hatched, and Reptile became the vessel for the reincarnated Onaga. In Sindel's end story Reptile's body is no longer occupied by the dragon king after a spell preformed by her. However we will not know if that trully did happen until the next Mortal Kombat.

My Thoughts:
I believe SIndel's ending is most likely true to some degree because it is the only window presented for Reptile to return. I also like the road the MK team took with reptile because its almost as though he is the tragic slave. For he wants nothing more then to free his people and revive the but because of never having his planet or matriarch around him he is always sinking further into maddness and primitivity.

Thoughts on his Ending:
I think after all this time he should finally reach his goal for peace and no longer be forced into slavery and be decived and taken advantage of so his soul can finally know some peace. Who agrees?
^Wow... it only took you about 3 months (sorry I forget how long ago it was) to do it... when discussion for Reptile had already stopped

Kano: With the Black Dragon having gone down the drain, I believe Kano will meet his fate in Armageddon. Wether or not he was actually "killed" (defeated) by Mavado is a mystery for now, and if the event did really happen, I'm sure he'll want vengeance. However, I feel Kabal deserves the latter. Sheeva is also possibly looking for some good revenge on Kano, and hopefully we'll get to see him beat his head in a few times. Li Mei might be pissed at him to for enslaving her people too. (Kano has quite a few angry women after him, not a good thing.) In the end though, Kano should be taken out in a finally battle by Sonya. He has managed to mess her life up one too many times, and Sonya really has not gotten true revenge yet. This is the time. Goodbye Kano.

Reptile: Apparently released from Onaga's control, it is now time for Reptile to do what HE wants. Stop being a little bitch and live your own life and not others. I am hoping Khameleon will eventually appear either this game or next game and continue on a story which might actually save Reptile's character. A repopulation of their species and realm would be a great advancement to his story. He could possibly even become the one giving the orders to his reborn race, something never before seen in him. First off, he needs to be the one to destroy Kahn, him or Kitana/Sindel. Since Kahn basically wiped out his species, it would only be fair for Reptile to wipe out Kahn. Another meeting should happen between him, Nitara, and Cyrax again too. That whole side-line was very interesting and Nitara seems to have no other purpose to fulfill, as with Cyrax, so why not? I'd like to see him get revenge on them too, for using him and shit. A showdown with Cyrax and Reptile would be cool. Revenge on everyone in fact! Reptile deserves it!

Goro: I'm sorry my four-armed-friend. You have gotten old. Plus, you have really served no purpose since MK1, so why keep him? The alliance with Edenia was cool, but of course that was ruined. Kahn again? Please. Something good was happen to him and it was crushed. A show-down with Noob Saibot on the battle field, this time a fair fight, would be cool. Also, Motaro shouldn't be working for Kahn, so a clash between these titans would be a highlight. If any shokan should remain, Kintaro is my pick. Goro has had his 15 minutes and more, making no use of it. He should either be taken out by Kung Lao or Kitana in the end.

Shang Tsung: Shang Tsung is only the second most hated to Quan Chi. With enemies left and right, I can only see the worst for him. Liu Kang, Kenshi, Kahn. You name someone, they hate him. With really no power or allies, what is there for him to do? In the end, I can see Tsung being taken down in a spectacular fight with multiple foes, maybe ending in a big explosion. grin Maybe one last power fight with Quan Chi would be awesome, but a fight between maybe him vs Liu and Kenshi, with a duel fatailty being performed on him would make a good ending for his somewhat now lame character.

Noob Saibot-
If he’s going to die, I’d very much like it to be at the hands of Scorpion. In the begining, they started out as rivals, and in my mind it would make the series full circle if Scorpion obtained the victory. If not Scorpion, I’d also like it if Smoke were to finish him. He had to deal with basically being Noob Saibot’s puppet, Smoke deserves some recognition for putting up with that. Sub-Zero would be a cool choice to kill him also, but it’s the one most people are expecting. Sub-Zero dealing with the fact that he has to kill the monster that was his brother, or Sub-Zero trying to turn him back to being good which will never work.
Frost siding with Noob Saibot would make sense, she’s very power hungry and Noob Saibot could use this corruption to his benefit, and both would be rivals against Sub-Zero. If Sareena gets involved, I think it would be interesting if she remembered who he used to be. If Noob Saibot manages to survive, I’d like it if he were to slip through the cracks and escape his foes. I would like it if he became successful in conquering the netherrealm, that would solidify an important position in the next generation. Instead of the battles being solely Earthrealm vs Outworld, maybe the netherrealm could become one of the next threats.

Raiden-

My Dad always comes to mind when I think of Raiden and no one else, since he was my Dad's favorite. When MK1 came out and I used to play him, he'd always pick Raiden while I always picked Scorpion, those were good times.

Storyline wise: He seems like he’s about to become the next generation boss, I don’t think the old Raiden is ever coming back, Shujinko pushed him over the edge. He may be good now, but he’s going to continuously see the flaws in mankind magnified and probably grow disgusted. This time around in armageddon, Raiden will probably be dealing mainly with Shinnok. Shinnok has a personal grudge and hatred with Raiden, I’d like for it to be dealt with. The earthrealm chosen ones are probably going to feel much different around Raiden now, since he doesn’t tolerate much, they’ll probably feel like they’re on thin ice. Once Fujin sees Raiden in his unstable condition, he’ll probably either try to bargain with him or begin to fight him. All signs are pointing to Fujin taking the place of the mentor that guides the earthrealm chosen ones because of Raiden’s instability, I think Raiden’s time is through.
Okay then, we will now start discussion on the characters that first made their debut in Mortal Kombat II. Sub-Zero7th is going to post the younger Sub-Zero's storyline in the coming mintues, so ok Sub-Zero7th... take it away! grin

Here is Younger Sub-Zero's plot summary:

Pre-MK2

Sub-Zero is one of three children born in America with an American mother and a Chinese father. His father was a 4th generation Lin Kuei warrior known as Sub-Zero. At a young age, Sub-Zero took his two sons away from their mother and sister and they were never seen again. He took them to a remote location in Northern China, the Lin Kuei temple.

The two sons were stripped of their past and trained to become warrior assassins for the Lin Kuei. The older brother eventually inherited the name Sub-Zero and years later took part in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Sometime after his ordeal with Shinnok, the older Sub-Zero tells his younger brother about Shinnok's amulet and the Temple of the Elements.

MK2

Sub-Zero did not return from the tournament and rumors spread and eventually reached the Lin Kuei temple of Shang Tsung's survival so they sent the younger brother, who inherits the name Sub-Zero, and orders him to complete the task. The new Sub-Zero heads to Outworld and takes part in Shao Kahn's tournament. Smoke, another Lin Kuei member and Sub-Zero's friend, joined him.

Scorpion somehow learns of Sub-Zero's return and he is able to leave the Netherrealm so he can stalk the Lin Kuei warrior. During his time in Outworld, Sub-Zero learns of Scorpion's vendetta against the older Sub-Zero.

In Scorpion's pre-retconned storyline, he watches one of the matches in which Sub-Zero takes part in. Sub-Zero defeats his opponent, but leaves his life. Shocked by this, Scorpion realizes this couldn't be the same Sub-Zero that killed him years ago. The two warriors eventually faced each other in Mortal Kombat with Scorpion being victorious. However, Scorpion spared Sub-Zero's life and secretly vowed to become his protector.

In the post-retcon storyline, either Sub-Zero and Scorpion fight with Sub-Zero being victorious or the two never fight each other at all.

MK3/UMK3/MKT

When the tournament ended, Sub-Zero and Smoke headed back to the Lin Kuei headquarters. They discovered that their clan has been automating their warriors into cyborgs. Both Sub-Zero and Smoke refused to take part in the automation process and they attempt to escape. While Sub-Zero was successful in his escape, his friend Smoke was not. The Lin Kuei sends Sektor, Cyrax, and Smoke after Sub-Zero with the mission of assassination.

Sub-Zero eventually comes across the Earthrealm fighters and he joins their side. Not only must he deal with the 3 cyborgs, but he must also deal with Shao Kahn's extermination squads. Sub-Zero defeats Sektor, reprograms Cyrax to destroy Shao Kahn, and helps Smoke regain his memories.

In the post-retcon story of Scorpion's, either he and Sub-Zero fight each other with Sub-Zero being victorious or the two never come across each other.

Liu Kang and other Earthrealm fighters defeat Shao Kahn.

MK4/MKG

Sometime later, the sorcerer Quan Chi helps Shinnok escape from the Netherrealm. With the threat of Shinnok, Sub-Zero dons the costume much like the one that his older brother had worn in order to honor his memory and bravery against Quan Chi and Shinnok. Sub-Zero once again helped the Earthrealm fighters against Shinnok and his forces.

Sub-Zero and Scorpion come across each other and Scorpion wants to kill Sub-Zero, accusing the former Lin Kuei warrior of murdering his family and ninja clan. Scorpion defeats Sub-Zero and states that he'll finally be able to avenge his family and clan and his soul can rest. However, Sub-Zero reveals that while the Lin Kuei was responsible for Scorpion's murder, the true killer of Scorpion's family and clan still remains free.

Scorpion was puzzled and asked who it was if it's not him. Quan Chi appears and admits that he is the killer of Scorpion's family and clan and how he used both Sub-Zero and Scorpion as pawns. Quan Chi was about to send Scorpion back into the Netherrealm until Scorpion ran over to the sorcerer and grabbed him so that they were both transported. That was the last time Sub-Zero would see Scorpion for a while.

MKDA/MKTE

Years later, Sub-Zero discovered that Sektor had killed the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei and was about to take the Dragon Medallion to claim control over the clan. However, Sub-Zero stopped the cyborg through defeat in combat. Badly injured, Sektor escaped.

With Sektor gone, Sub-Zero took the Dragon Medallion and harnessed its powers of enhancement. It enhanced his physical strength and his Kori powers, but he paid a price for wielding its powers, his youth. With the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei dead, Sub-Zero reformed the Lin Kuei as a force for good and he became the new Grandmaster of the new Lin Kuei clan. He found a remote location in the very arctic regions of China which he made into the new base of the Lin Kuei.

Sub-Zero holds a tournament to see who would make worthy students for his new clan. The winner of the tournament was a mysterious young woman named Frost who seemed to possess powers much similar to Sub-Zero's. He was very interested in this woman so he took her as his personal student.

Unfortunately for Sub-Zero, training this woman to become a good Lin Kuei warrior was tough. Although her progress in fighting skills was fast, she lacked discipline and was rather arrogant. He tried to teach her humility and respect, but it was quite tough and didn't seem to work out. While her powers increased, so did her arrogance.

Raiden eventually came to Sub-Zero, asking for his assistance in the battle against the Deadly Alliance. The Lin Kuei Grandmaster eagerly accepted as he wanted to show the world that the Lin Kuei clan has truly changed for the better. For the Grandmaster to leave the clan like this was something uncommon, but Sub-Zero felt he had to do it. He asked Raiden if Frost could come along and Frost had to prove her skills to be allowed. Luckily for her, she passed and she and Sub-Zero went to Outworld to find and combat the Deadly Alliance.

Sometime in Outworld, Sub-Zero comes across Sareena, the woman who helped his older brother against Quan Chi so many years ago. He allows her to stay at the Lin Kuei temple in Earthrealm out of gratitude.

Unknown to Sub-Zero, Frost wanted to become Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei so she temporarily froze Sub-Zero and took the Dragon Medallion from his chest. She tried to wield its power, but she lacked the strength and discipline to do so thus she became consumed by her own power.

MKD/MKDU

Sub-Zero carried her frozen body throughout Outworld, searching for a good place to bury her. He eventually came across an ancient temple in the cold, snowy regions of Outworld. No one was there and it seemed like that for a long time. He lays Frost's body on a sarcophagous and studies the culture that once inhabited these ruins.

Apparently, the people who lived there had the mastery of cold. After thorough studying, Sub-Zero comes to the conclusion that he and Frost are the descendants of this lost race. He finds a suit of armor sitting on a throne with a skeleton inside it. He dons the armor and heads out to find a portal back to Earthrealm.

On his way to the rendevous point with Raiden and the others, Sub-Zero is ambushed by a group of Tarkatan warriors. He decides that his last living deed would be to vanquish as many of them as he could before he sucuumbed to death. Fortunately for him, he had the upper hand and Sub-Zero's armor spoke to him, guiding and strengthening him with each blow he makes to his opponent.

He defeats the group of Tarkata but then is attacked by Hotaru, a follower of the Dragon King. The two warriors fight and Sub-Zero comes out victorious. He continues onward to his travels and he finds Kenshi, the rogue swordsman, who is badly injured from his fight with Mavado. Sub-Zero rescues Kenshi and heals him. The two make a temporary alliance and travel together to find a way back to Earthrealm.
-----------------------------------

Sub-Zero is my favorite MK character for a lot of reasons, one of them being his storyline. He's come a long way and has both character and story evolutions, going from a warrior assassin for the Lin Kuei to becoming a rogue and becoming one of Earthrealm's heroes to eventually taking over the Lin Kuei as the new Grandmaster. He certainly has a lot going for his storyline considering the return of all sorts of characters.

I think his story will mainly revolve around his eventual conflict with his older brother, Noob Saibot. Sub-Zero will probably try to free Smoke as well as reach out to his brother. I'm sure we'll (hopefully) see Sareena be involved in this conflict as well as Frost, Scorpion, and Ashrah.

There might also be a battle against Sektor, who started his own clan of cyborgs in Japan, the Tekunin. I'm sure Sektor wants revenge against Sub-Zero for taking away the chance to become the new Lin Kuei Grandmaster. I'm not sure how they'll cram all that in. Perhaps we will see Cyrax and maybe somehow even Smoke involved in this conflict.

There's also Mavado and the Red Dragon. Going back to his MKDA ending, it signals an eventual conflict with the Lin Kuei. It might not be likely for this to happen though considering characters like Kabal, Kano, Sonya, Jax, and some others.

Then we have Quan Chi and Shinnok. Perhaps they might play a bit of a part in the Sub/Noob conflict. Then again, I'm sure they'll be doing other things like focusing on getting the amulet.

I hope they'll explain more about Sub-Zero's ancestors as well as the mysteries behind the powers of the armor that he's wearing. I think perhaps his destiny might involve something with his people or Outworld. He seems to look younger than he did in MKDA so perhaps he's becoming like Mr. Freeze in which his aging process will greatly slow down, thus having a much longer life span.

It would be great to see him in the next-gen MK games as he has lots of story potential. However, if he doesn't make it into the next-gen MK games, he should somehow pass on his lineage to someone else. I'm not exactly sure how. Maybe he'll have a child or something. I don't know.

Either way, I really look forward to his MKA story, and I hope it'll be fleshed out and interesting.

Yeah, the younger Sub-Zero has had one of the best storylines (perhaps, even THE best) of all the recurring characters. He had a lot of potential and I hope the MK Team will use it right in this big final battle. I imagine he'll either come back in the next-gen or pass on the Sub-Zero mantle to a successor.

Well, I'm sure that his story in this saga will end with him defeating his brother Noob Saibot, once and for all, perhaps with the help of some others like the ones I mentioned. I'm sure we'll also see a bit of a conflict between Sub-Zero and Frost.

Sub-Zero's going to have a lot to say to Frost now that she thinks he left her for dead in the tomb (see her MK: DU biography for details), so I expect a confrontation right there, but I'm more interested in Sub-Zero finally taking on and destroying his greatest rival; Sektor.
Sektor's been after Sub-Zero for years, even moreso than Scorpion, since Sektor was technically built to seek-out and kill Sub-Zero. It's about time that that rivalry comes to an end and Sub-Zero either turns him into scrap metal, or Sektor makes Sub-Zero his most powerful Tekunin general (I have an obsession with at least having one of the good guys forced to become a cyborg tongue).
As for Noob Saibot and Sub-Zero... I don't think they should even bother with it now. Noob's dead, and has only recently been brought on as having any kind of relation to Sub-Zero, so even though they could simply add in that sub-Zero knew that Noob was his brother, I'd rather have them lead different lives, never knowing or caring about their former lineage.
Although now that I think about it, I would like to see Sub-Zero rescue Smoke from his programming and remind him of who he once was, but odds are that would lead to a confrontaiton with Noob Saibot... Maybe it could work after all.
It can really go either way with him, since there are so many possibilities, but I think Sub-Zero's going to come out of Armageddon a changed warrior.
