*claps hands* You always know how to really me interested in terms of the different stories. Thanks to you, I do appreciate Kitana's storyline a lot more than I had in the past.

Yeah, Kitana is an interesting character as well as one of the main characters. I do agree that Shao Kahn should be her main focus so I think it's a good idea that Shao Kahn did indeed return and is trying to take back power. I noticed the ending you did for Shao Kahn, and I liked the touch you put at the end in which he's actually proud of Kitana and Mileena. I think that he's not really a 1-dimensional villain, that he has some interesting qualities to his character.

Anyhoo, I think that it would be better if this were Kitana's last MK game and that she simply rules as its princess. However, if Sindel were to die, then yeah, Kitana should become the queen.

What about her and Liu Kang though? I mean, I think there should be some kind of interaction between the two characters.

And let's say she were to continue on to the next-gen MK games. What future do you think she could have?
Damn... I wish I could've made my discussions as big as XiahouDun84 sad... Anyway, Kitana's definately had an interesting story, she's never been one of my favorites (pretty Goddamn cheap in MK2, if ya ask me) But I don't hate her to say the least. Anyway, I think that Kitana should probably retire after this game, and Jade could take her place in the next-generation.

As for Shao Kahn, well I do agree that in some form or another, Kitana should have a hand in his final defeat or whatever the hell the MK Team's gonna do. But there's also the case of Mileena, I doubt Mileena's gotten over her hatred for Kitana, so they should have a showdown sooner or later, what happens between them... who knows with the MK Team, but I expect they might just go for something incredibly predictable and just have Kitana kill Mileena again...

As for her and Liu Kang, well, personally it doesn't matter to me if they end up together or it ends on a bittersweet note. Either sceanario would be fine with me as long as it's done right. (I just hope she doesn't end up with Rain or Taven, that would suck)

Anyway, I think Kitana's one of the least likely characters to die and I think we'll see her as the new Queen of Edenia in the next-gen games, though not playable but just alluded to.

Great post, Xiahoudun84!

Kitana has been my one of my top faves and she is indeed interesting.

I agree that Shao Kahn should be her main focus. As PNF said, the MK team would do something predictable to have Kitana kill Mileena once more.

And yes, there should be some interaction between Kitana and Liu Kang. If she is going to end up with somebody, she is better off with Liu.

I don't think Kitana will die and she will become Queen of Edenia in next-gen MK.

I believe Kitana has had a good run. Not the most original or most exciting, but still a good one. I don't think she be killed off at all. She has much potential in the future of MK. I would like to see Sindel perish and Kitana take over as queen of Edenia. I can't see anyone else ruling it but her (sorry Jade). Now on to recent events.

Kitana was apparently killed by Quan Chi in battle. Now under a spell by Onaga, she has taken a dramatic change in her story. Even though Sonya, Jax, Kung Lao, and Johnny are all being controlled by the DK, more emphasis seems to be placed on Kitana for some reason. Is there something special going on with her? Is she the key to anything? Also, who has she killed in Onaga's name? Someone important, or just those fighting for the name of freedom? Hopefully she will be saved by the end of Unchained, as I would hate to see her be evil in Armageddom, especially if it is her last game.

Being freed, what will be her first motive? Baraka is the lead of the resistance against her troops. Will he be targeted by Kitana and killed? I rather doubt it, as Mileena has more reason as of their little fued. Speaking of Mileena, she is still in control of her army. Kitana really needs to stop her before her troops her lead into an untimely death trap. I'd like to see one of those fights where both are dressed the same and you can't tell who is who. But then Mileena would have her mask torn off and seen as the enemy. Then she'd really have to have a talk with Bo'. For being the leader of the good guy's only chance, he sure isn't too bright. You think he would've gotten the news Kitana was being controlled or something.

Moving on to Kahn's resistance. Goro has once again switched sides (go figure). Although I believe Kitana should have revenge, I'm letting Kung Lao do the job. He has him being a traitor AND the murderer of his ancestor, one up on Kitana. Kahn should definitely be taken out by Kitana. He has caused so much grief in her life, I don't think it is possible for him to do any more. This chapter of her life needs to end, the end of Kahn himself. Though, Kitana will be overpowered and needs help. I'd like to see one of three teams - Kitana, Sindel, and Jade (the most obvious); Kitana, SIndel, and Rain (if Rain turns out not to be evil, he should still be on his quest to seek veangence of Kahn - he really should not be evil after finding out his past, but eh), or Kitana, Sindel, and Mileena. XiahouDun, you have very much changed my perspective on this situtation. I think this would be a very good tag-up and after reading your endings for this, I want to see it happen.

However, things could go the other way with Mileena and she could still be evil. Of course, I'm gonna go with the obvious choice of victory here. Kitana would win, though I'm sorry to say. I'll miss Mileena. sad Or a turn of events could have Mileena the winner. I see lots of potential for her, but it's really up to Boon & Co. to decided the outcome.

Another interesting twist would be if Liu Kang was still evil. After all, she loves him very much, and if he were bad, how would Kitana react? Would she have the power within her to kill the shell of the man she loves, or succumb to his likes?

Onaga is very much a threat to Kitana, but one I believe she will not deal with. Plenty of other people are better candidates for taking him out, even if she was possessed by him. Same goes for Quan Chi and Shang Tsung.

One last thing - many speculate Rain and Tanya will have an evil alliance. I think this is the most absurd thing ever, as Rain knows his true past now and would likely not join the side of malevolence. Tanya has Jade to be killed by anyways.

Final thoughts for Kitana. She has had a good run, and I don't think it should end. Someone needs to run things in Edenia, and another Princess just wouldn't be the same. If she does stay though, something big needs to happen to her, or her story will eventually die. If that happens, she mine as well die in Armageddon.

In MK2 I said "ewww, girls have koodies." Well, true for Kitana in that game (whatever a koodie is.) But in UMK3 she owned. She's like my 3-D gameplay Chun-Li for MK. I couldn't lose with her. MKDA she still owned ass. And that pretty much somes up her gameplay wise

Storywise, she's just your average "I have no idea whats going on" type of person. UMK3, we were thinking that. Whose side was she on in UMK3? Did she get her memory back then, or what? MKG came and explained it to me. MKDA, I don't really give a damn about.

She has a relationship with Kang, which I think is pretty stupid, but w/e. She has to get married to him, and live in Edenia as thequeen. Sindel has to die in a dramatic way. You know, just to make Kitana the new queen.

Kitana is my favorite character. I agree that Kitana should focus in Shao Kahn, but she can't ignore Mileena if she is pretending to be her.

Shao Kahn ruined Sindel's and Kitana's perfect life. And it's time to him pay for it. I think that they will kill him, but Sindel will die in the process. I also think that Rain can be an important ally for them. If he knows that Shao Kahn killed his father, probably he want see the emperor dead.

And then, we have Mileena. In the past games, Kitana was eveything Mileena wanted to be. And in MK:D, she did it: she became the princess Kitana.
Now, things changed. Mileena isn't just an envy girl to Kitana. She took her place. And I think it won't be easy for Kitana to recover this.

In the end, I see Kitana becoming the Queen of Edenia.
I don't think she will have a happy end with Liu Kang, though. Personally, I think he will die as a hero in this game.

In a future game, probably Edenia will be in dangerous again, which means that Kitana will be back (at least in storyline). Jade should be the Edenia's new heroine (sorry Taven/Daegon) and Rain - if he helped Kitana against Shao Kahn - can have an important position in the realm.

I think Kitana's relationship should end on a bittersweet note. He does one final heroic deed, then his soul moves on to the Heavens to rest in peace. In his ending, he'd be allowed a chance to give Kitana a final good-bye before he goes.
I just don't see Liu Kang as King of Edenia and that's a little too sugar-coated happy ending for me.

Kitana shouldn't end up with anyone if Liu goes. If he was the love of her life and he's gone it'd be weird for her to immediatly jump into the arms of someone else. If Rain's good, I could see him trying to hook up with her....but it would have to be handled carefully. Maybe before Liu goes, he tells Rain something like "Take care of her. Make her happy."
But even then it shouldn't be some sudden thing like in Rain's ending it just says "Liu kang was dead, so Kitana immeditaly married Rain."

Screw Taven.

If Kitana comes back after Armageddon, like I said, something cataclysmic should happen to Edenia. Right now Kitana's sort of stuck in a circling routine of "Edenia's in danger...I must save it" and that's getting boring fast.
So if Edenia were to burn, Kitana would be freed of that and be forced to find a new direction and purpose. I've no concrete ideas on what at the moment, but I think it could be interesting.

Hmm, I see...

I really wonder what side Rain is on and how he'd interact with Kitana if they ever cross paths again...

As for Taven, I think he's meant to end up being the protector god of Edenia, taking his father's place.

XiahouDun84, you have some good thoughts on Kitana. She has always been my personal favourite and therefore I hope to see her back after Armageddon. But if this will be her end then the ending you describe would be perfect. She deserves a happy ending and I will find my peace with an ending like that.

Her current storyline with Kahn should definitely end. This is how I would like to see her future. Edenia must burn again of course, but not just yet. First she must deal with major losses after Armageddon. She must deal with the deeds she has done while under the Dragon King’s control and she must deal with the fact that most of her allies and Friends will be gone. Liu Kang must die (or stay dead). It would never work between those two anyway. Liu Kang is a mortal and Kitana is 10.000 years old. Sindel and Jade should be killed too, leaving Kitana as rightful ruler of Edenia. But she can’t find peace because of her losses and hides her identity and runs away leaving Edenia throne less.

At this point someone will come along claiming the throne of Edenia, someone new, someone evil. Eventually the people of Edenia will starve and suffer because of poor leadership. Rain could play a big role in the future as well. Not as new lover of Kitana but as a loyal patriot to Edenia. He could be a high ranking officer in the Edenian palace but unable to do something about the suffering.

Rain could start his search for Kitana and try to convince her to join his quest for her to reclaim the throne of Edenia. Once this is done Rain could remain with a loyal position like Kitana’s personal bodyguard or maybe a general of her army’s. And then I think its time again for a new evil and Edenia will burn again

I don't think Kitana would marry someone besides Liu. Neither Rain nor Taven. She'd be a single queen.

About Rain, if he will help Kitana in her fight against Shao Kahn, it will because of his father. I don't think he can be loyal to Edenia. I think that, after they defeat Shao Kahn, Kitana will think that she can trust in Rain and will give him a high position in Edenia. But if he betrayed his realm once, I think that he can betray it twice.

I don't know if that story of Rain betraying Edenia would be boring and repetitive, but I think that it would be interesting if one of Kitana's most trusted person was in fact a traitor. And I don't think it would fit in Jade.

And Kitana shouldn't fight to free Edenia again. She must let this with Jade. As a Queen, she would probably have a more political role.

Very well written, Xiahoudun84! Kitana is my favorite character as well and you are a great advocate for her. I agree with you 99% of the time.

Let me ask everyone this: Why do you think Kahn spared her in the first place? Why do you think Onaga made her his right hand "man"? Could she be part of some ancient prophecy? Could her life and cooperation be neccesary to dominate the realms?

Kitana has always been my fav since MK2 and I would really like to see her go on to next gen. If this is her last appearance, I'd like to see a dramatic somewhat happy ending for her. She deserves some closure.

I've always wondered that about Kahn myself. Why would he go through such trouble to ensure Kitana's loyalty? Some say he needed her alive because doing so would give him a legitimate claim to the throne, but I don't buy that theory. He conquered Edenia through Mortal Kombat fair and square.
I always wondered if Kitana was in some way essential to Kahn's plans. And if so, in what way? Or maybe it was just as an insult to Jerrod? Or was it just possible that he genuinely cared about her in some way?
I always thought there was more to Shao Kahn and his strange relationship with Kitana than appeared and I'd like it we found something out in Armageddon.

I'm not sure if Kitana was so much Onaga's right-hand woman as she was just the most useful against Sindel. Since Sindel and Jade were in Deception, it'd make sense Kitana would figure more prominantly than the others enslaved heroes.
But what if Kitana really is in some way essential for something? Something that Kahn knew and Onaga's now knows too.
Or what if...going back to Kahn actually caring about Kitana...Onaga's enslavement of Kitana was a little "fuck you" to Shao Kahn. People wondered why Kitana was suddenly dressed in Mileena's outfit during Deception...my theory was something similar to Jabba the Hutt forcing Leia to wear that slave bikini in Star Wars. Onaga has Kitana as his slave, so he forces her to wear this skank-o outfit. What if Onaga made special use of Kitana because he knew Kahn actually cared about her? Onaga giving Kahn a little "Fuck you, she's mine now."

That actually could've been a cool story had this not been the grand finale game. Kahn and Onaga having a power struggle over Kitana.
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll get to see that....but I would like it if Kahn and Kitana's bizarre love/hate father-daughter relationship was acknowledged.

Say Kahn and Kitana are moving on to next gen. What if Kahn rescues Kitana from Onaga? She then realizes that he actually genuinely loves her as a daughter. Say Liu, Sindel, Jade and Rain all fell in battle. What if Kahn was all she had left? Could she come to some sort of compromise with him?

Perhaps the life Kahn gave her was the best one he was able to provide. Perhaps he showed her as much love as he knew how. The thousands of years she spent with him couldn't have been ALL bad and she has no other life to compare it to anyway. Does she miss that strong father figure? Wouldn't he have succeded had she remained loyal to him? Would that have been that bad for her?

If he promised her Earth... would she take it?

lol @ XiahouDun84's post

That's actually quite an interesting idea. Once again, this goes back to my feelings on the whole story compacting thing. It would be cool to see something like a power struggle over Kitana. I think he does care for her. According to what queve said about the MK3 book and stuff, Shao Kahn was devastated by the loss of Sindel so I think he does care about Sindel and Kitana. I don't want to get too much into Shao Kahn though and would rather wait until he is brought up as the main focus in a conversation. However, he is important to Kitana's overall story. I do agree that there should be a sign that shows that Kahn does indeed care about Kitana.

To oushokuhachi: Interesting post...I don't think Kitana would ever really go back to Shao Kahn, knowing that he was the one who killed her father and drove her mother to kill herself. She knows all too well what kind of person Shao Kahn is, even if he does care about her. I'm sure that she'd be quite different if she hadn't learned about her true past.

I think Kitana in some ways is very much like Xena, that strong female warrior who had a dark past and is trying to make up for that.

Since I ahve a short attention span I didnt read every single post.
BUT has anyone though of the possibilty of Kitana and Mileena joining together to take out Shao Khan? Maybe Mileena will remain loyal to the dragon king and she will make a compromise with Kitana to double team him. I would just love to see the "sisters" fight along side eachother for once in a game.

One of the things that has bothered me fromthe begining is the assumption that "Mileena = teh bad, k!ll h3r dud3!" mentality. That mixed in with Kitana can beat Mileena everytime w/o breaking a sweat. With all of the interconnections that most of the female characters seem to have in the series, a knockdown drag out catfight confrontation will probably be necessary between 1-3 or more of the girls as well.

Kitana's evil(the evil within) was an interesting way to look at it. It kind of illuminated a thought that has been bugging the heck out of me for years since MK2.

Mileena = Kitana

There is no way around this fact as they are not "twins", Mileena is a direct clone. Mileena literally = Kitana x Evil Tarkatan genes + years of envy and hatred and being told "You're @&^& and your sister gets everything!"

With Kitana having ties to Sindel, ties to Jade, ties to Tanya(ambassador, betrays the realm, and tries to kill Jade, etc), ties to Mileena, ties to Shiva(got Goro killed). Kitana's in the middle of a bunch of political problems, family problems, assassin problems, and other garbage that makes War and Peace seem like less complex.

Kit is a favorite of mine, and so is Mileena, The tie they share was made stronger when Mileena was granted telepathy to Kitana. Then Mileena assumed Kitana's very identity. Even more important though, is the fact that both "twins" were distanced from each other by the new story direction.

Kitana should not get away with killing Mileena twice in a row now, and Kit needs to have her butt handed to her by Mileena. Somewhat balance the scales.

Kit needs to get the heck out of Dodge and stop running the world. It's amazingly boring. "Ooh... I'm princess, whee!"

Kit needs to get back out into the thick of action(not leading wars necessarily, maybe stealthing ninja stuff) and leave that damnable throne behind to someone else.

Kit and Jade's relationship would be nice to see. Let's end all the back room hushed talk. Just how close of "friends" were they? There's room for development here, especially if keeping the girl's out of the gutter and letting them honestly develop. (Maybe the two of them went out with Rain ona mission in a flashback that affects Rain's life but sheds a little light on why Jade gives a rats about Kitana).

The "Onaga exploiting her inner evil" thought led me to a final conclusion. Kitana might have good reason to be absent from the throne. Maybe she "enjoyed" killing again. Maybe her hands are too bloody and somethings finally snapped inside her, allowing her conscience to form ghosts that rip at her. This ultimatly could lead to a two game story arc. By the end of the first game Kitana has done all she can to distance herself from her evil, to put it away while at the same time still drawing blood. However... Kitana cannot seem to clear the stain from her soul. The answer is the fact that Kitana can't put away the evil without confronting Mileena. The second game catapults Kitana back into a bloodletting mindset of confrontation with Mileena. Stalking, hunting, killing. Kitana Part 2 may literally be becoming Mileena, and if her face started to change as well, there'd be one helluva evolution for the character, as well as serious ramifications for the entire "good guy" team! If Sindel is put out of action, Edenia falls into the hands of Evil in the form of one or the other Princesses(until something changes them, obviously) but I'll leave that for a Mileena thread.

Kitana has always been a favorite of mine, and that isn't about to change. Out of all the characters in the MK series, I feel that she deserves a happy ending more than anyone else. The way I originally envisioned it happening was that Sindel dies in battle alongside Kitana against Mileena and Baraka and afterwards Kitana takes them both. Kitana kills them both and rules Edenia, but not alongside Liu Kang. I think Liu Kang should be allowed safe passage to the heavens and Edenia will finally be safe.

Kitana is one of the most important characters in the MK Mythology she's been around for some time(ever since mk2). As i have already said in other posts i think it would be best if the old mytholgy got cleansed most of it anyway. I think Kitana should get a great finally and go out with a bang(a bang to shao khan's head). I think she is the most desirving person to kill shao khan and i think she should actually do so... i also believe she will recieve help from a host of warriors.

Liu Kang is the most obvious warrior and they might team up for a last fight in armageddon... the MK series seem to follow some romantic twist in their story. As many have stated i don't want to see a typical cliche happy ending in which they both live happily ever after as queen and king of edenia. It's time for both to end their MK run.

Sindel is an obvius ally and will probably help her defeat Shao Khan, she is entitled to some redemption too.

Rain, something tells me Rain is going to play a big part in armageddon, if khan is going to die Rain is going to be there!!! 100%!!! I don't think he will get too big of a personal relationship with kitana but they are the characters most bent on killing khan

That's all i can think about right now...

PS: i am sooo pissed i didn't see this outstanding thread earlier i missed some of my top 10 characters already(Sub-Zero,Noob and dang Kung Kao and i had such a plot line for him... if he's going to make he's gonna be big if not i am certain he'll get a honotful death and join his great ancestor but hell i'm gonna miss him), well gald i found this thread at least now and a huge congratulation to whom started it

How I see it, Kitana will be a major character in Aramgeddon. Her storyline will go something like...

Kitana secretly leaves Edenia, with no one knowing... except for a set of eyes in the shadows. She travels through a secret portal to Outworld, in an attempt to confront Kahn and finally avenge her father. As Kitana is on her way, Mileena attacks. As Mileena has the ability to know what Kitana is thinking, she knows Kitanas next attack, therefore always having the upper hand. Just as Kitana is about to get out her steel fans, Mileena quickly grabs her and throws her to the floor. Mileena starts to kick Kitana whilst she is on the floor, shouting things like 'who is perfect now' and 'this is for stealing my identity'. Mileena then kicks Kitana on the skull, and she becomes temporarily unconcious. Mileena gets out her sai. She shouts 'This is for making my life misery!' She is about to impale Kitana, when Jade comes out and shadow kicks Mileena from behind. Jade and Mileena have an epic battle, but Mileena emerges victorious. She is weakened though. Then Kitana awakens. She gets up and finishes Mileena. Kitana runs up to Jade, upset about her dying. She goes back to Edenia in order to give Jade the burial she deserves. She goes back through the portal and to a sacred Edenian temple. She lays down Jade to rest, when Sindel approaches her from behind. Sindel questions Kitana on her whereabouts before, and Kitana tells Sindel what happened. Sindel says she fully supports Kitanas decisions, whatever they may be. The one thing Sindel doesnt agree with is Kitana going alone. Sindel says that she will accompany Kitana and together they will fight Kahn. They travel through the secret portal to Outworld. They see Shao Kahn by himself. They follow him. When they are in a deserted wasteland, Kitana comes out and attack. She attacks, using her agility to get quick hits in and avoid Kahns hits. Kahn then does a sweep and trips Kitana. Sindel then screams as loud as she can, momentarily immobilizing Kahn. She starts to attack Kahn. Kitana gets up and joins in. Together, they fight Kahn and injure him badly. Then he gets out his war hammer and pounds Sindel with it. He shoots a green energy ball (like in MK Trilogy) and Sindel dies. Kitana attacks with rage. Not only did Kahn kill her father, but he also killed her mother. To make matters worse, her best friend also died at the hands of her worst enemy. She keeps attacking in a rae and finally overcomes Kahn. She grabs his warhammer and pounds him until he is on the floor. She keeps attacking him, and he finally dies, only this time it wasn't a clone.

I like Kitana. She has a great design, interesting moves and good concept. Her storyline has been rather poor for a while though. She has huge potential. I can defintley see her in next gen MK.

Design:
Screw regal dresses and stuff. The leotard is practically a tradition and one that works well. She never looks trashy, she just looks exotic. Perhaps an outfit similar to Leifang's outfit in DOA3, the red dress would suit Kitana if she wore her hair down (shoulder-lenght) or in the braid (ass-lenght) and the dress were blue. I hope she keeps Eagle Claw and Steel Fans in the future so an outfit that looks good with those styles would be great.

Fighting:
Eagle claw is a great looking style, its beautiful to watch, fun to use and I'm hoping by MKA will be powerful or at least useful. It suits Kitana very well and I hope to see it in next gen.

Tessen: The Steel Fan is pretty much Kitana's thing now. What shes most famous for. I hope her steel fans are as beautiful to watch as it was in MKDA and hopefully a little more useful. I also hope she can throw an infinite amount of fans.

Special Moves:

Fan Throw:
Like the good old days

Fan Swipe:
Really powerful swipe with her fans that can be done in either
Steel Fan or Eagle Claw. Has slow recovery though.

Fan Wave:
Instead of in MKDA where she holds her fan out in front, she holds it slightly up like in the old days. In MKDA that would have been rather useless but now with the new jump feature.

Pretty Kick:
A really nice kick, I really liked this move in MKDA.

Kitana needs some more moves that don't revolve around her fans. I'd like her to have her own individual cool moves which is why I don't want her to have the Square Wave Punch or a Kiss fatality. With a character like Kitana it shouldn't be too hard to think of some...erm...

Plot: Kitana should break free from Onaga's curse but she cannot do any of the following.

a) become Queen of Edenia. Sindel is NOT to die.
b) kill Mileena. Mileena finally clawed her way out of her shadow in Deception. It's time for her to have some fun.
c) attempt another peace treaty.
d) fight against the Centaurs. The Shokan broke the treaty first. The Centaur's should now be on Edenia's side.

I don't know where Kitana's plot is going to go, I just hope she, Sindel and Mileena make it to MK8.

I’m with you and really hope that Kitana will return in the next MK. She’s the most important character in the Edenian storyline but I think Sindel and Mileena should die. It’s not that I don’t like Sindel, she’s a great character and I have no problems with Mileena either. But the end of Sindel, Mileena and Kahn will force Kitana’s story in a different direction which could make her story more interesting again. As long as she doesn’t choose to avenge her mothers death because that is the same old again. If Sindel should die she better avenge her death in Armageddon and move on in the next MK. Jade could have an impact on her story death or alive, in different ways. As an ally and friend or as another huge loss.
