From the new information we got from Game Informer it stated that only SIX characters from "Deadly Alliance are to return into the new game.

Seeing how Sub-Zero and Scorpion have returned along with Kenshi based on the renderings we were showed, that narrows the returning roster down to only THREE characters.

Now seeing that I have three of my all time favorite characters in "Deadly Alliance" that are not Sub-Zero, Scorpion, or Kenshi I'm worried that I can't play as them at all untill ANOTHER Mortal Kombat comes out after "Deception".

My three favorite characters in Mortal Kombat which have not been mentioned at all so far are...

Kung Lao

Raiden

Johnny Cage

All THREE of these characters have been in "Deadly Alliance and I fear that probably non are to return as PLAYABLE characters.."

Man.... This new information is good news and bad news to me at the same time... sad

I doubt they'd kill Cage to many people like him. But I agree that Kung Lao will be returning, MKDA has made him like the hero.

I agree, oh, crap.

I still pray to the little gods of technology that Rayden will make it back. But the characters I think most likely to return are:

Sonya (Because we need at least one female fighter from Earth, and Frost is too much like Sub-Zero. However, she might not be included if the entire game takes place outside of Earthrealm. She and Jax might be too busy setting up security measures and all but one portal has been destroyed.)

Kung Lao (Only because we need a White Lotus. If Kai returns or a new White Lotus appears, then he might stay home to train new warrior and help in Earth defenses, esp. if the story completely takes place outside of Earth.)

Kitana (Only because Mileena and Sindel are returning. Hopefully we find out she is missing and Sindel is looking for her.)

and the runner up would be Rayden (Because of his ending and him stating that he will fight all dangers to earthrealm as the god of thunder, not as its protector. Thus enabling him to go to other realms and preventing the danger from reaching earthrealm. Unfortunately, the appearence of Ashra and the limited slots makes him a runner up.)

I afraid that that Thunder God might be stuck back to just being the storyteller/advisor again.

I doubt Cyrax (or any cyborg) will return, since the story seems to be taking a more mythic line at this time. Nitara will definitely not make the cut. The only non-humanoid to make more than two games in a row is Reptile, and he started out as a humanoid. The same reasoning goes to the Onis. The other characters such as Jax, Mavado, Johnny Cage are all earth based and the problem of where the conflict is taking place and their storylines seems to lower their chances of returning. Frost...we already have one ice-ninja returning. As for the socerers, we have enough villians in MKD with the Dragon King and possible new ones appearing. However, I would count Shang and Quan as runner ups after Rayden.

Hmmmm.... You make a good point I could see now why some of the characters might not return... If this whole story takes place outside of Earthrealm then I could understand why Cage would not return or Kung Lao.

The Earth's forces could break into 2 units consisting of warriors defending Earth and others attacking Outworld
Cage, Kung Lao, Sonya, Raiden and all of the classic old school Earth warriors from the Original could be busy protecting Earthrealm and building up their forces incase of the other team failing and Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Nightwolf Kabal, Ashra (If She is good) newcomers will be another "ATTACKING" unit. All of them will venture into the Outworld to take on the coming threats..

So Cage, Raiden, Sonya and Kung Lao could be in the game but involved in the storylines of other players. They could be seen in other characters Endings and bios...

My guess is that the Subby we've seen is the dead one from the first game, and NO Earthrealm heroes (EDIT: Nightwolf and Kabal are in it, so there goes my theory, I completely forgot--but maybe they both died and are in the netherealm? Hmmmm...?) will appearr.... that this will be like a netherealm/outworld war, then MK7 will have Cage, Lao, Sonya and the rest of the gang fighting against this game's winners. Which is bad news for me--my favorite characters are almost all heroes. I'm 21, and I don't really play many games that often. I hate to sound like a grump, but I'm basing my purchase soley on what characters are in the game. So far, I am far from impressed. For me, no Johnny Cage likely means no purchase. (yeah, it sounds dumb, but I don't want to send $50 on something I'm not satisfied with, and I won't.)

I think they meant the 6 characters were NEW in DA. And the others count as the classics like scorpion, sub zero, baraka.. etc.

In that case, most of the new characters from DA would be in. I'm hoping that Li Mei and Bo Rai Cho are the 2 that aren't playable.

Either way we are going to be left with only THREE characters from the classic Mortal Kombats to choose from...

there are already SEVEN classic characters returning and 3 are left unoticed..

Tell me about it, but it depends on the story. After thinking about it a little more I would increase Rayden's chances a little bit and tie it with Sonya's. Only because, I'm dropping the female from earthrealm requirement. Thats only for PC (Political Correct) and MK is not known for being PC.
Also, if MK7 comes out perhaps this war with the Dragon King will spill over to Earthrealm and thus bringing back Earth's warrior but leaving the other's out. Or perhaps, since both Xbox and PS2 will have a hard drive rhere will be expansion packs that add more characters later on. Hey, it means more money for Midway that way.

There will be SO many deceptions in MkD...too many.

Some people over here have said exactly what MKD will be all about, and cause of that, Mk7 WILL HAPPEN.

I'm just going to be pissed if I get screwed out of my cybernetic ninjas. It's BS that Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Noob Saibot, and Ermac can all make the cut but Cyrax, Sektor, and cyborg Smoke are MIA.

But if the war with the Dragon King reaches earth in MK7 or in expansion packs, there is a very good chance that all the cyber ninjas will be involved. After all, they are from earth and could be considered valueable additions to earth's defenses by Special Forces. Especially since Cyrax is already working for/with them.

I just think that those of us who like the good guys are getting screwed. Like I've said before, hardcore fans (like those on this website) liked all the ninjas and the new characters in the MK3 series. But those games were actually the beginning of MK's downfall--those characters aren't all that popular with the vast majority of fans (by this I mean people who pick up the games, but don't come on here to post a lot.) OK, OK, disagree, I don't care, but at least hear me out:

Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Jax, Liu Kang, and now Kung Lao make up the driving force of this series, besides Sub and Scorp. Everyone knows them, and it's just the way it is. Them not appearring is just wrong on so many levels, especially when we look at who they're being replaced with this time around. Yeah, I like the old school guys returning, but only if these guys make it, too, which looks unlikely, which is just a damn shame.

I agree with you that the hardcore fans liked the ninjas, I mean I didnt care that there were 8 male palette swap ninjas and 4 female palette swap ninjas-- they all had their storyline that made them have their place in the games, just my opinion though-- didnt really give a damn that there were palette swaps-- but I disagree the palette swaps were the cause of MK's downfall-- i believe the cause was pretty much the lack of a dark feeling-- limited secrets-- and something else that I cant put my finger on.

I also agree with you to a certain extent about the driving force characters except Sonya and Johnny Cage-- I never liked Sonya, Johnny Cage is a mix for me-- I like him but he really needs to get over his movie storylines-- I liked him in Trilogy when he actually got serious about helping the Earth warriors-- thats the Cage I want to see.

well im like 90% sure that kung lao, johnny cage, frost and most of the mkda chars wont be in deception. the ones i believe will be in from mkda r scorpion, sub-zero, kenshi, kitana, shang tsung, and quan chi. im 99% sure kitana is confirmed at davesmk.com. and the DA isnt dead so im 90% sure the DA will be in deception. so besides those 6 i highly doubt any others that were in mkda will be in deception as playable chars. but there is still 3 slots open for the classic chars that wearnt in mkda. all i hope is to see rain cuz i want to see how he would play and see what his story would be. probably some thing to do with kitana.

I take offense to that. I was about 10 when the first MK hit the arcades and I remember it clearly. I've been a MK fan ever since and have bought atleast one port of every MK game ever made. However, I never liked the cyborg characters. MK3 was the down fall because they tried to add a bunch of new characters and keep the old ones and it was all too much. Not to mention the completely over the top border line cartoon like fatalaty's. IE: Kabals head pump fataliaty. I've said it before and I'll say it again, that looks like something straight out of a daffy duck cartoon. Don't go off saying that really hardcore MK fans like the cyborgs because believe me, many don't.

BACK ON TOPIC: This is the million dollar question. Do we stick characters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, Sonya ect... who were in MK:DA in the returning from MK:DA section or the classic section? I'm actually leaning towards the classics because 6 returning out of a cast of 23 really isn't that many.

On the Johnny Cage topic, I never liked him either, untill MK:DA that is. He is one of my favorites and best characters on that game. Story wise I think he's useless but I did like his move and combo set in MK:DA. I think the only characters I really didn't like in DA was Bo Rai Cho and Nitara. I wouldn't mind any other ones returning.

im just gonna say i liked cage in mk1 only. now dude mk3 was not the downfall of mk. the down fall was mk4. if mk3 didnt have all those chars then there wouldnt be many classic chars to choose from to be in mk deception. i love mk3 more than any other mk game till mkda. but i do agree with u that the fatallities were starting to get dumb then. i hated the babeallities and the friend ships. o and i was 5 or 6 when mk1 came out and ive been playing mk since i was in kindegarden so i go way back and i loved the robots in mk3. hell sektor is my #4 fav of all time. but still i kinda hope no robots will be in deception. and sub-zero is my #3 fav of all time but if he isnt the older sub zero back as a specter like scorpion then id rather him not even be in deception at all. but i cant do any tihng about it but be mad if he isnt a specter.

Kitana wont be in it. I dont think she will anyway. Seeing the characters that have been included, she like, seems to be in a VERY lower level then she was before.

I think she wont, and if she actually does, she wont be in Mk7. I have read some intersting posts about this.

Anyway, my list:

Sektor, Sonya*, Cage*, Kung lao*, Tsung.

* Means they might not return.
