Although I don't agree with you on Frosts potential, I'm sorry that you lost one of your favorite Kombatants. "I really don't see how Frost is a Sub-Zero clone or that she's a rip-off. Her Ground Freeze works differently from Sub-Zero's Freezing moves and as for the Icy Slide, she learned that from Sub-Zero as well as Yuan Yang." 1) Her whole character theme is far too similar when comparing her to Sub-Zero. Not very chreative at all in my opinion. It's not like two half demon warriors who- while both being half demons- still look totally different and have completely different themes. The character Frost, was a cheap attempt to capatalize off of Sub_zero's insane popularity, plain and simple. I'm sure that the MK team (Boon aside who would never approve the idea) would love to make a female "Scorpion like" character, but they know that at this point there is absolutely no way that they could sell that one to the fans. 2) Frost used all of Sub-Zero's old moves from other MK games, and in my opinion, would only take away dev polishing attention and other *cool* possibilities from Sub-Zero in the future. There is only a finite amount of characters that the MK team can fit into their MK games, and in my opinion there's only room for one *cold* bad@ss in the MK universe at this point. 3) If Sub-Zero fans think that Frost was cool, then a I bet Scorpion fans would think a female specter ninja named "Stinger" would be totally awesome. She could have fiery red hair and wear yellow/gold and black. She could shoot out projectile blasts of hellfire, and have a handful of small spears come up from the ground to impale her enemies (at which point she would yell "STAY THERE!". Sound good? I hope not because I think that the idea is seriously and completely retarded. "And yes, she does have personality. She is very arrogant and desired to impress Sub-Zero, secretly hoping to take his place as Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei." A character that is arrogant isn't at all special or unique. Yeah, she has a different personality then Sub-Zero, but I don't see how that justifies keeping her in the line up, when a much more creative character could be given the same personality overnight. "I know this may sound a bit biased since I'm a Sub-Zero fan, but there is no way that Frost could ever replace Sub-Zero. He is a very essential character in the storyline." She *was* an essential character for Sub-Zero's storyline, but just because this single MK game character was intertwined with Sub for one game, certainly does not bind her to him. "Anyway, it doesn't make sense for Frost's ending to happen since the way it seemed as if the Deadly Alliance was defeated and that Frost and Sub-Zero headed back to Earthrealm, but Sub-Zero was still in Outworld and the Deadly Alliance had not been defeated." No one said that either Sub or Frosts ending happened exactly the way it did in the MK:DA endings. The MK team could have been giving us a possible ending, which ended up being *partly* true. |
Well, perhaps parts of endings did occur. But I suppose we'll find out more answers when the game comes out. When I said essential character, I was referring to Sub-Zero, not Frost.
I wouldn't like a "female Scorpion" character. However, I did like Frost even though she had powers similar to that of Sub-Zero.
You are wrong when you said Frost used all of Sub-Zero's old moves from the older MK games. Frost did use Sub-Zero's Slide and that was because he taught that move to her. As for the Ground Freeze, it works differently from the way Sub-Zero's Ground Freeze works. Those were Frost's special moves. She didn't have the Ice Clone or the Ice Rain so to sum it up, your statement was not accurate.
Why I'd want her to be in future MK games is because of her potential. Her storyline can go in many different directions.

We've already seen numerous "female Scorpion" concepts posted by users on these boards. So your theory looks pretty sound. And yes, I agree that it would be a dumb idea.

I completely agree with your post Sub dude. And its true, Frost does have personality, the arrogance fitted her character well, specially after seeing her real intentions in her ending.

Thats very true. Sonya did sense something was wrong with that person, and she was right. I think she goes by her instincts. It would had been really interesting to see this 2 team up or something.

This is too bad. I liked Frost. She was pretty good to use and seemed interesting.
And I would've loved to have seen Sareena fight her to protect Sub-Zero. That would've been sweet.

I agree! Frost had so much potential! Like I said, she could had a very deep story with lots of characters:
Sub-Zero (duh!)
Sareena
Sonya
Sektor (Tekunin)
Red Dragon (hates Lin Kei)
Quan Chi (hates Lin Kei)
Black Dragon (????)

Ok, what's the big deal? She had 2 special moves and was a complete clone of Sub-Zero. Her fighting styles weren't that great, either.

I dont think Frost was a clone. She had ice powers but nothing like Sub-Zeros.
Her styles were not that great, but they were very good! So what if she had 2 special moves?

thank the lord she's gone, i dont mean to offend any Frost fans but damn give me a clone if ive ever seen one.I know alot people liked her and i still dont know why, i dont know maybe i never gave her a chance being that once i heard the words female sub-zero, i thought jesus christ a brand new 3d engine and were back to clones and to me thats what she was a useless clone of a great character. I guess its just prefrence.

If Boon wants to add another Lin Keui(spelling) member you all will hate him/her cause they will have ice moves like Sub-Zero. ALL OF THEM HAVE ICE POWERS. Doesn't mean they are a bull shit clone of Subby. It just means they have ice poswers LIKE him cause they are in the SAME clan of ICE fighters.

Sub-Zero's family were the only "ice fighters" for the Lin Kuei. The freezing abilities were past down and honed from generation to generation. All of the other Lin Kuei assassins had other powers, which I also assume were passed down from father to son. Boon could and should make another Lin Kuei fighter, but he or she should have nothing to do with freezing, ice, cold, etc.

In MK:Mythologies they said the ice powers were passed on from generation to generation and that Sub-Zero's father and mother had THREE kids. Two sons and a daughter. When they were taken by the Lin Kuei, the sons were to be trained, which we already know, but the mother and daughter were never seen again.

That is very interesting!!! Frost could play a role in that story. I think we havent seen the last of her.
Frost fans dont be scared, I think she will return.
