well jax is far better choice than most. I would rather see him in than
anyother ninja type character. I just hope they can redeem him as a better
character than the recent jax we have all been subjected to. He could
have plenty of room to grow as a power house but to me they seem to
get off course with his charcater for some reason. His character is the
dyno-mo the power house the bullshit stops here kinda guy and thats how
they should evolve him. I mean he is this special force leader and all
well then cast him as one. Will the real Jax stand up please. Under rated for sure
but I feel cause of the less energy spent on the development of his story
and profile. Just my 2 cents worth brothers.

I wouldn't mind knowing how Jax became the new Stryker, seemingly overnight!
... Even though the Comicon was clearly subdued for the first character abruptly announced, and did not boo.

Jax isen't really any thing to freak out over so I'm a little shock at the hate he's getting. But Jax is one of those classic MK characters that really need a new fresh story aka Scorpion,Sonya ect. It's the same with him in every game. He needs to become his own person and he was in MKDA, but then came MKD which messed every thing up.

When ProfessorAhnka is the descending voice of reason, you know it's time to start reevaluating.
I could've sworn Jax had well and truly replaced Sonya as the chosen law enforcement agent of the fans! It's just so surprising to suddenly see everyone completely abandon the character that, I think, has so much potential.
I really don't think being pushed to the side hurt the character more than being reduced to a burly stereotype in Deadly Alliance. The design could've been better, too.
I realise MKSF might as well be waving red infront of a bull, but for anyone who endured it and plucked out the positives, I think it becomes blatantly obvious that all Jax (and Sonya) need is investment in the conceits of their universe. They are, particularly in today's gaming climate, perhaps the most sustainable spin-off franchise they've got, under the right circumstances!

Jax was booed when they showed him at Comic Con!
Yet, Shazaam (Captain Marvel) was praised? wtf?
If anything that should have been swtiched.
For the record I don't like Jax or Captain Marvel.

Jax was cool he was awesome in MK2 and cool in MK3 i used him a bunch in both games, he looked super cool in three, I do hate what the did to him later on his arms looked stupid and the goggles they do nothing. and he was a token. But from what i saw he looked awesome maybe he gets a chance to redeem him self, i hope they dont make him like cole in Gears of war

Funny,I was just thinking a similar thing.
When Mick is actually elaborating on a valid agrument instead of trolling, then you know it's time to start reevaluating. =)
Jax > Sonya
At least in MKU and MKA, Jax clearly started to expand as a character. Clearly began a step away from the cliche thug that we all love to hate. Sonya however, still did not. All she did was leech upon Jax's new plot in a futile effort to make her seem relevant.
That being said, I wouldn't have cared if both Sonya and Jax weren't in the game. But Jax is better than Sonya, in my opinion. Unfortunately he doesn't have breasts and a thong tan line.

I personally would've liked this game to not have Jax, Liu Kang, and Captain Marvel, but I can understand why Liu Kang was put in. For me, Jax is one of the more sub-par characters. I still say he was at his best in MK2. For someone that's supposed to be a Major in the U.S. Special Forces and is said to be the world's strongest man, I find it a bit silly for him to be using bionic arms, especially since Sonya doesn't use those herself. His alternate costume and 1-liners in MKDA really made his image worse.
Aside from all these points, I simply would have liked to have had the inclusion of more MK villains, particularly Shao Kahn, Mileena, and Baraka (even though I don't care for him much). In addition, I'd like to see Raiden in this game.
I know what you mean about Jax starting to expand as a character, and it is kind of interesting. However, I think this should have been done earlier. As for not having breasts and a thong tan line, well, I don't know about the thong tan line part, but he has those big man-breasts in MKSM.

i'm sorry i just don't see it. is he a thug just because of the necklace he wore in the completely and totally option alt? Jax > Sonya

i'd really like someone to explain it to me because i keep seeing it around boards
Though not a fan of his, Im happy Jax made the cut because he is iconic in more ways then just the silly "black-label" some people like to give him.
I just hope he didnt take the spot of other more iconic characters though, like Rayden.
And finally, like Mick said, people simply exageratte the supposed "hate" he got in Comiccon. While its obvious there's a big no and a few groans because of that "no", there were also happy cheers for him.
He wasnt as badly received as some think imo.

It's a reference to his MKDA alt, and his vocal pattern in the more recent games. "Awwww yeah!", "Dat's what I'm talkin' bout!", "Sucka!" and such. That's street lingo, Jax is a military man. They shouldn't have made a joke out of him because he's black, and they did it anyway. It's the MK team's fault no one likes Jax anymore.

i thought that was more of a humorus reference to the 70s and characters like shaft lol. It's a reference to his MKDA alt, and his vocal pattern in the more recent games. i think it was meant more as a joke than making him seem stereotypical, and honestly i don't see the stereotype. if they'd put him in a do-rag, gave him a grill, and made his pants sag to his knees than yeah. but i think they were going for more of a homage to classic hip-hop.
so do people not mention darrius's alt because he came in being hated? with the afro and shades and what not?

It might be time to introduce to the children to the phrase; blaxploitation.
Regardless of the references, you're actually elaboarting on what ~Crow~'s saying, rather than disputing it.

Darrius' alt is a far superior and artful reference to that type of stereotype. A more affectionate reference with great precedent within the genre.
Darrius was one of the few times I played a character exclusively with their alt. If that had been Darrius, the character would have instantly been ten times as charismatic. That injects a great deal more character into Darrius, rather than undermining established traits, like Jax.
Jax is a straight edge Captain America.
Not a jive talking thug.
