PAL Players assessment card

posted08/30/2007 11:33 PM (UTC)byI thought I should open a thread analyzing current active players from MKO on PAL PS2. This is my objective assessment and is by no means reflection of your opinion. You may therefore disagree with some of my points which is why I hope you can follow this up with your own assessment of others (from your perspective).
I’m going to use 5 key factors (but I may add to it... any suggestions?):
Speed - Simply how fast a player is
Adaptability - How well do they adapt to different characters and to different forms of attack
Combo - I think this explains itself
Roster - Use of high, mid and low tier characters and still remain EVIL
Consistency - How often the player brings his 'A' game to the table
Entertainment value – This pretty much how well I’m entertained when I play you. It has nothing to do with how good you are.
Here goes!---->>>>
==================================
Vile
I get the feeling that when I play Vile, he doesn’t take it as seriously as most of us. But you still see flashes of his knowledge of his game. I know he’s able to do stuff like parry cancel and test some obscure stuff in the game. I think Vile could have become a force to reckon with if he played the game more and took it a little bit more seriously (but not like life or death though).
Speed - 6/10
Adaptability - 5/10
Combo - 6/10
Roster - 6/10
Consistency - 5/10
Entertainment value - 6/10

HJS
HJS has a very unique style of playing MKA. His game is based on effectiveness rather than fancy stuff. However, he is very effective with his style of play and his strongest asset is his adaptability. He plans his attacks so well. Everyone on PS2 PAL will say HJS lags but I don't think that gives him any advantage in the arena and I know this because I know what it's like playing when you constantly lag (NTSC experience). HJS's weakness; his moves can sometimes get repetitive with certain characters whenever he gets an effective move and even he would tell you he’s a glitch whore! Lag or no lag, I always fully enjoy playing HJS and I look forward to our next match-up.
Speed - 7/10
Adaptability - 8/10
Combo - 7/10
Roster - 8/10 (HJS said he's 9.5 but I think he's more like 8)
Consistency - 8/10
Entertainment value - 8/10
---------------------
Tgrant aka KILIK
Tgrant is without a doubt the very best on PAL server in MKA. If he played on NTSC, he’d without a doubt be one of the very best. His main strength is purely down to his speed and how quickly he adapts. Speed is a great asset to have but when coupled adaptability, you would have created a monster. I've been trying for 4years and I still can't beat him in a series both MKD and MKA. However, he too has his own weakness. It’s a general weakness in that he has a pattern with certain characters. If you've played him long enough you'd notice these patterns but exploiting his them is another battle all together. Part of the reason I can’t beat him in a series is because I’ve played him longer than most folks on PS2 and he knows how to make me play the way he wants which kind of sucks for me. You simply have to be faster than him to win a match.
Speed - 9/10
Adaptability - 9.5/10
Combo - 8/10
Roster - 10/10
Consistency - 9.5/10
Entertainment value - 1/10 (I don't enjoy getting my ass whopped constantly otherwise if I'm objective it'd be 8.5/10)
--------------------------
VJ
For me, Vjeekes is an awesome warrior. He is so damn aggressive when he's in the arena. He would keep chasing you until you're out of space. Like Monk, VJ loves his combos too and integrates them well into his game. Ironically for VJ, his main strength is his weakness. His aggression can sometimes get him into trouble because you just know he wouldn't throttle and that gives you room to defend against his ever constant incoming attacks. However, I always love playing VJ. He's willing to experiment and do new shit. He plays on my level in knowing that entertainment comes first and even when you lose a series it means nothing so long as you go away knowing you've had mad crazy fun but make no mistake; this guy knows how to win!
Speed - 8/10
Adaptability - 7.5/10
Combo - 7.5/10
Roster - 8/10
Consistency - 7/10
Entertainment value - 9/10
-----------------------------
DelPrev aka KAKARAT, D4Myth
I haven't played DP that much lately but every time I do, you always know what you'd get and that is a raw fighter who is thirsty for victory. DP is particularly awesome with high tier characters and his Noob is so good it pisses me off especially when he disappears. His weaknesses; It'd have be the size of his roster (which is definitely expanding and lately I've seen a lot of new stuff from him), his adaptability to indifferent tactic and DP is king of throttling especially with Smoke. He could do with some purposeful attacks but you only see that mostly with his Dramhim and Sheeva.
Speed - 7/10
Adaptability - 7/10
Combo - 7.5/10
Roster - 7/10
Consistency - 7
Entertainment value - 7/10
----------------------------
Monk aka Novation
Here is another crazy ass player. Monk is damn good! I've played series against Monk that I felt I lost unfairly or purely due to my own stupidity. Not as fast as Tgrant but he is the best combo executioner I've ever played (both PAL and NTSC). Some of his chained combos are crazy and sometimes unbelievable. I know Check would love to have a guy like Monk in his test team. Monk's main weakness for me has to be his seldom lapse in concentration. He focuses so much on doing the wonderful things that sometimes when it gets to crunch time, you can see his vulnerability.
Monk is however, one of my great allies and together we have tried (but failed) to take down the control of KILIK in ps2realm. But it’s also worth mentioning he’s been more successful than my pathetic attempts.
Speed - 8/10
Adaptability - 8.5/10
Combo - 10/10
Roster - 9/10
Consistency - 8.5/10
Entertainment value - 8.5/10
-------------------------------
Malheur aka D4Wrath
When Wrath used to play MKA he was a formidable force. He is always throwing new stuff in with his crazy combos. He was the first to really master Johnny Cage and Jax. But Wrath is not as active as he used to be and you can see that whenever he plays. He is very rusty indeed but if he can start playing consistently, many here will feel his Wrath again.
Speed - 7/10
Adaptability - 6.5/10
Combo - 7.5/10
Roster - 7/10
Consistency - 6/10
Entertainment value - 7/10
-------------------------------
Hellx aka DT4, MKA
This is a hard and probably unfair one because Hellx has only started playing the game again but even so you can see how fast he's learning and project how good he'd become. He understands the basic concept of the game and has fast integrated parries and wake-ups into his game. Even I only started using these moves couple of months ago but Hellx started utilizing them from day one and I think that sums up his development His weakness is going to have to be rustiness because he hasn't played the game so much and probably vague roster depth.
Speed - 6/10
Adaptability - 6/10
Combo - 6/10
Roster - 5/10
Entertainment value - 6.5/10
Consistency - 6/10
(I do expect my assessment of Hellx to change pretty soon as long as he keeps playing)
-------------------------------
Gordonut aka Golden
I've been playing Gordonut for over 3years and he still occasionally come to MKO. He used to kick it out on XBOX. I always love to battle this guy. He has a very impressive roster and that gives him an element of unpredictability. Gordonut does not know how to show fear. He could be losing so badly he'd still keep going till the very end. Never counter-picks and after a long hard battle you'd meet him in the lobby and you get the message he has totally enjoyed the series. Never moans. His weakness, however, is the fact that he's very rythmic in the way he plays. You when he's going to go for uppercuts and that invariable helps lan out attacks on him but whenever he switches his style of play you may find yourself in a state of shock. Such is the guile of G-nuts.
Speed - 7/10
Adaptability - 6.5/10
Combo - 7/10
Roster - 7.5/10
Entertainment value - 7/10
Consistency - 7/10

Awesome list, Trax! I ́d give you some dragon points if only I could. And you really brought back memories as you described how I introduced Jonny Cage and Jax.
I miss those times to be honest...

@ VJ & Mal: Thanks for your feedback guys. You guys can add your own analysis for whomever you want. So we can keep the debate open and you don't have to agree with my opinion. Matte'fact, I'd rather have you disagree but post reasons why you do.
@ VJ: It actually didn't take me that long. I got bored this morning at work and thought of doing something relaxing with my time and this is one of them.
@ Wrath: I definitely miss the good o' days when we used to battle at least 2-3 time a week. Do you think you'd start playing again anytime soon?

here i would have given a 9/10 for combo and the same for Entertainment value, there was a time (in mkd) Malheur was my favourite opponent of DA he's a combolover and could perform nice shit! this is for MKD, now in MKA I played him only a few times so i dont really know. ----------------------------

here for my clanmate i would give a 6/10 for Entertainment value, he never gives the time to breath, that makes him really strong and if you do 1 stupid thing you may pray the lord that he wouldn't use that really fast against you, a great analyzer too, he adapts damn fast, hes weakness is his defence

i dont know how that guy does that but he's so damn fast, in MKD my strenght was my speed, sometimes guys called my speedcheater but now in mka i lost that because of these fucking parrys and it became my weakness, for kilik no prob. Its definitly the strongest of all PAL. No further comment ----------------------- Trax You are definitely a hard opponent, for me your biggest strenght is that you own almost the whole roster and that i almost cant make the difference between high and low liers. Last time i picked 35 characters, you picked 50 and the last 15 games i took high tiers but you still owned most of the games. Ok so first, good job Trax, that was cool and fun to read. And now for the bitching:
LOW LOW LOW GRADES, Trax, do you think I'm a bitch?
for real, roster - 7.5?? get real m8, I play half of the fucking cast to near perfection, I play everyone! From Tanya to Motaro, From Scorpion to Kano. Everyone.
I think I deserve a 9.5. Maybe 10. Hell, I play more characters than Ty.
And you forgot one more thing: Coolness. I get a 10 here. Cmon, I'm so cool, everybody wants a piece of me.

@ HJS: haha.. Feedback ain't shit without you dude!
Actually, come to think of it, I think I gave you some low marks. It's probably because you stopped playing for a little while. But 9.5 or 10 for Roster??? Com'on! However, I would say your roster should be a 8. You know I'm right about speed, don't you? You're a defensive type of player but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
Now, try and assess other people instead of spending so much time in front of your lying mirror!
------------------------------------------
@ VJ:
Nice shit VJ! I gave you the most for entertainment because it's always pure blooded pleasure playing you.
I put Mal down for 7 (entertainment) because not as active. I used to look forward to playing him but then he went to Vegas and everything change. I honestly don't know what the hell happened to him. I hope he gets back soon tho.
I'm waiting for the others to throw in their feedback.

Thanks for dropping by Check! Let's all hope MK8 is universal. Now that'd be some real shit. By I may still be able to catch you one of these days when I'm Toronto on PS2 if you're still active.

Trax, I am able to post again so I will repeat what I already sent you:
I ́d really love to on the one hand but can ́t stand 90 percent of the players ruining this game on the other...
And it ́s obvious that you continuously improved while I got rusted as you already pointed out. Whenever we meet, you always rape my little ass.
However, I ́d really like to battle you again and therefore are going to get online more often from now on!

Thankyou for this assessment. Unlike others I'm not going to dispute it. Others opinions help me a great in improving myself and that weakness you speak of I wish to iron out. In the case of most characters I play, it's just due to a lack of options or knowledge. But lack of knowledge can still pull off a victory with proper execution.
You guys mention my speed but I feel I've been fairly slow lately and it might be due to the lag, I don't know. The game is feeling a little off if you know what I mean. I also don't feel I've been playing as well as usual lately and I want to get back to and hopefully surpass my initial KILIK phase. Remember how good I was playing back then lol? I need to learn to bring my full game to the table at all times but at times I just cannot be bothered so I end up sloppy. At other times I'm not fully concentrating. This is the me you guys fight on a day to day basis. So you'll know when I'm on a good day when I can be bothered. Monk and Trax know it more than anyone hehe. As soon as I add the missing elements back, beware!
Anyway, after 4 years, it's still fun to play you Trax lol. Only you can give me the abuse you do after a series. I just miss hearing it over the mic like back in the MKD days hehe. You're easily the funniest guy I've ever played MK with and definitely one of the most entertaining.

Not now you don't. I believe Jax and Meat are the only ones I do not use now. I've had time to practice alot of them lately and will get around to those two soon. I don't use them all to incredible skill but I don't mind using the others. It provides variety and I can only get better with them. Just because I may not pick them versus you, it doesn't mean I don't use them, bud. Also note we don't get to play often.

Thanks, dude. Remember how fast my MKD Ashrah was? I'm not that fast now lol. At least I don't think so. I think my speed is a determined by knowledge and an understanding of the game mechanics and utilisation of the games core elements that others don't realise. Manos was the same and I'm sure you'd agree.
As for you, MKD and MKA are two different games and you just need to adjust. You'll find your niche again.

That's what I forgot to mention; game mechanics. There's a lot more to this game than just combos, parries and wake ups. Understanding the game mechanics is especially important when you need to compete with low tier characters. My main weakness is probably not knowing enough combos and utilizing all the core elements.
With good understanding of the mechanics and core elements, even the KAK whores would have no chance against regular characters. That's why they never wanna play any of you guys especially when you login with your real ID. They just ignore you. It sucks like Malheur pointed out. But with the little group of peeps from here, I'm sure we can still keep it going.
Trax
Here's is the real stats of the greatest guy ever - me.
Speed - 9. Yeah I'm not on speeds like Ty, but:
A. I'm still fast.
B. Im not agressive, I take my time, play defensive. Doesn't mean I'm slow, I backdash better than any other player.
Adaptability - 10. Dude please, I'm probably the only one to cause Ty problems, and once actually, I won a series against him. (He's better but I still got a series once). I was the only one to uppercut Trax crazy jumping ass. I took Gala's Jerek like a fly. get real.
Combo - 8 Not my best part, I can still combo nicely.
Roster - 11. - You said it was the use of low and mid tiers!! Kano, Cyrax, Motaro, Nitara, Meat, Baraka, Stryker, Shang Tsung. Cmon. I'm so good.
Consistency - That's depends. My A game is using Tanya only. I usally try many characters so I can't rate myself here.
Entertainment value – 12. I'm the best.
This is HJS.
Don't belive what people tell you.

F@ck , i just wrote almost a whole A4 size reply here, and then I pressed the wrong button. Damn those small buttons on a laptop!!!!!
anyways, Trax, my dear fat-ass-lovin'-hooligan homie. I simply can't resist to say something about what you wrote about me
but then again... nah.. if that is how you see me, well, I don't agree with all of it (I vary my turling style with agressiveness lately) but I will spare you all with that, and go on to what I have to say about ya'll internet warriors.
Ty:
well, what can I say. Apart from the fact that he can't stand his losses very well, he is the best mka player active. No doubt about that. His speed, adaptability, combo, size of roster and consistency is unreached here. He never makes mistakes, always guesses right and know's everything in and out. Sometimes it scares the hell outta me. I sit there for my TV screen and thinking 'what the fuck' or 'how the hell does he do that'
Entertainment, a well, not that high for me at least
Monk:
Dude hast too much time on his hands, just like Ty. Knows a lot of shit, has great tactics. High effective moves and spacing along with a great timing. The thing that breaks him (yes I can get some games of him quite often) is when he desperately wants a certain move or combo to work. But when he plays to win, he is a very very strong opponent. Used to be a lot quicker than me in MKD, now he isn't anymore. Difference is he still rarely makes mistakes.
Trax:
Easily the most improved player since MKD. I myself have improved quite a bit, all of you have told me that some time or another, but Trax has become a awesome strong warrior. Knows how to bring a strong game with an awful lot of characters. Amazingly, but, he does not use a lot moves. Only the ones that matter. And that is what makes you good. Timing and spacing is incredible. His consistency is not always to shout about, but still way better than mine. One of his advantages though is his connection. His moves are quite often very safe, while mines arent. Say what you want about this Trax, but some of your moves against me are safe while they shouldn't. You can jump, attack, jump away etc. leaving me there confused. Yeah, I should uppercut you some more next time. But we are not here to talk about lag. Trax is my nr. 4
nr 4? who is nr. 3 then?
the third spot goes to HJS. His ego is so big, it wouldn't fit in the world trade center when it still existed. His sence of humour is something a lot of ppl simply can't charish. His style of play neither. Fact is, it is one of the most effective styles here. No fucking around, straight to the point. To be honest, in the beginning of MKA I did not think that much of him, but the last two times we played he regained my respect. Not as great as he says himself, still good enough to beat almost all of us in a series. Speed and adaptability good, consistency and roster very good.
VJ: awesome player in MKD, used all the glitches in the book with a very high speed. Now, in MKA, I can keep up with him pretty good. LAst series went very close, the one before I even won. I think it surprised him quite a bit. hehe
Anyways, I love his agressiveness, but yeah, it is his downfall at times as well. Sometimes a bit predictable, but I like to play him way more then in MKD. Knows quite a few cool combos. Uses that what works. Sometimes makes the same stupid mistakes like me though. But at least that makes him human imho
Malheur:
When we played, god, I always loved our matches. In MKD he was quite better than me. Not in MKA. Now we are (were) more even. If he would play more, he would be a very good fighter. I love his combo's. They always seem to work. Nice to watch, even if you're the one being juggled through the air losing have the life bar. I am proud to have him in my clan (same for you Trax ofcourse). His speed can be surprisingly high, yet he tends to use the same tactics too often. At times I can predict him too easily. Apart from that, I always have great fun playing him. Oh yeah,, he has problems when his opponent goes invisible. You can feel him thinking 'damn bitch, where are you?
Too bad Frostie was gone for quite some time. I hope to fight him again soon. Last series we had was 6-6, and with the highest speed I ever played. Frostie plays like he is on speed, xtc mixed in a red-bull drink. God, never stands still, always moving like a squirrel. Very consistent. ALWAYS playing to win. He says everything is okay to win, but still plays pretty non-scrubbish himself. Not a big roster, but enough to keep it interesting. Great fighter, come back soon man!
To Vile,, Trax is right. Since I know him personally, I can tell that he has other priorities when playing this game. He knows a lot of stuff, but cannot always integrate it in his game.
Okay, this is it. My GF is out, having fun with some girls. I have to get up early tomorrow to go to work. Now I'll watch a movie and wait what you have to say about my comments.

Awesome feedback DP. Shame you lost the original one. You're so right about my game. You got me spot on. I don't know alotta moves like most of you guys but I try to just utilize what I know to the fullest.
----------
You know what I was thinking when I wrote my feedback on you? All I could see were 2 black characters. Smoke and Noob. Hence my review. But the key thng is we all could be better if we played MKA as much as we played MKD but then again we're a 1 or 2 older with more important things to worry about. All in all, I think your assessments are very accurate.
-----------
@HJS: I should have given 20/10 for entertainment value. Not just in the arena but also here. But I think my review is probably more accurate but I have to admit that your adaptive play is definitely one of the best.
Trax
PS: Where is Monk? And Hellx?
