Please have TEXT endings in MKD!
Please have TEXT endings in MKD!
Ok, I know I'm gonna get practically bludgeoned for starting this post and even making such a suggestion, but hear me out!
While the FMV videos were indeed cool, they were in a sense very limited, or constrained, and dare I say it, a little rushed. Sure, it was nice to see the MK fighters animated, but you have to agree that they looked more like toy puppets then real human beings.
Their moves were limited, in the sense that they were repeated or looped. Apart from that, it takes a lot of work to film an FMV ending. But lets assume that they did have FMV endings for MKD. Cool. Sure, I'd like that too. But we're not talking about your regular 12 - 15 fighters here. Were's talking 24 (probably excluding hidden fighters, if any)! That's a lot of space for a disc, and a lot of memory. And don't forget they are already planning a kick ass opening video in MKD!
Nah.....the text endings were just as cool. They had a feel of 'mystique' in them. Something a little MK2 / MK3 - ish. Furthermore, they could really flesh out the story (they could add paragraph after paragraph with ease, as opposed to filming). And I'm sure the text endings would take up little space. I'd prefer if they spent more time on other things, like the gameplay, or the fatalities!
Sure, I'd like to see FMV endings too. But if they're gonna sacrifice a lot of time and energy making FMVs then concentrating on more important stuff, then no way! I'd settle for good old fashion text endings any day!

I didn't mind text endings personally (and after seeing the crap in MK4, I'd prefer they stick with them). Yes, FMVs due take a lot of space, but what is the size of a PS2 disc? 4 gigs? Assuming each FMV is 30 megs in size, and assuming there are 30 characters with endings, that's about 1 gig of space. 3 gigs more for other things. I'd say the entire gameplay modes and whatnot in themselves take up half of the disc. While they aren't a necessity, and they would look nicer if done correctly, its probably not going to hinder anything if they're added.

I wouldnt mind either endings. MK4 endings blew chunks with the looping and raw pixels. It seemed rushed.
If they decide to do text, at least add more pictures and a more in depth ending story, not just (hey i won and now i will train for the next 5 years til something comes up) kind of endings.

Talking about these FMV endings and how much space it would take up brings to mind the game Tekken Tag Tournament, now I'll admit some of the endings were ridiculous (but lets face it, up until Tekken 4 most if not all of the endings made no sense) but they had one for every character and there were many more than 30 in that. Then Tekken 4 came forward with endings for each of 20 characters that were around 3 to 4 minutes each and flesh out a lot of story and were very well done.
I don't think it has to be done to this extent but it is not out of the realm of possibility that you could have a minute FMV ending for each character in MKD and have them be done very well. I do agree that this should only be done if the MK team works seriously on the quality of them though.

I say have both.
FMV- have it right after you beat the game, to see what happens right after the fight with the Dragon King.
Text- This would happen after the FMV, to show the long term effects of the winner.

FMV diffinately, you could make some great endings for Deception and the majority of problems with it that have been said so far were just because of the limitations of a PS1 game, there wouldn't be any problems for well thought FMV endings in Deception.

Either is fine with me. Both work well, although I can see why the fmvs are a problem. They do look like dolls on them, but I'm sure that they would look a lot better now.
Maybe a mix of the two could be used in MKD, but I think fmvs would help capture the mood of the game a lot better.

I don't understand why some of you are so concerend about memory. PS1 games had FMV endings for every fighter. Tekken 2 had them and that came out in what, 1996? Quite a few characters in that game too. Plus, in MK4, wasn't all the writing still done by Tobias? So there's no reason to not have non-text endings. Hell, the endings felt rushed in MKDA moreso than MK4.

TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH
and I want FMV endings because I want to hear the characters' VOICE... kinda gives more life to them...

No text please. I want FMV, but only if it doesnt take away from the construction of the game.

Lets see they should have gone this way, work on the game(graphics and whatnot)then the endings and then if they had more room then work on stuff like the extra content like konquest mode and chess.Cause to be honest,i like the konquest idea but would have liked to have fmvs endings then the puzzel and chest games.

There was some well-animated endings for every character in Tekken 4, why can't we have some for MK:D , well personnaly I don't care if it's text endings or FMV , but I don't think it's impossible. If they can't do one for everyone, do some pretty cool ones for the 5-6 characters with the better (most spectacular) endings. But like I said, that's not one of my main concern. Concentrate on fatalities, fight system, kool konquest, the gameplay things for god's sake!!!

i liked the text ending with raydan as the reader. the only think i did notl ike was that it was only 2 pics, it would enough to me if they had 4. you would get a better idea of what is going on.

i don't care about FMV endings, they were not good animated in MK4.i prefer a pair of good screenshots with well drawn images and that's it....

For the space it would take to make FMV's as opposed to text endings, I'd take text.
Bring me more secrets, levels, animations, character content.

Are you guys stupid or something. Now, I could be wrong here, but I don't think they'll use MK4 style animation for an advanced console game. Did you people even watch the beginning FMV. music video or see Scorpion doing his kata at the acid bath in MK:DA? The graphics are incredible. Anything less than FMV would be kind of disappointing.
