Stryker was the worst... still, I want him in the Konkuest!!! the worst chrac\ter is just as important a part as the best!!! Without the contraswt between a demonic ninja and a crappy city cop... the ninja may become boring overime!!!
Stryker was an integral part of MK! Plus, its alqways fun to see how big his nose looks in 3d!!!

D!!!!!!!

Stryker sucked. He was too plain. He's garbage. He's an insult to the MK character flavor.

It seems like the MK guys took some average joe off the streets and said, "Hey, buddy, want to be in MK?" Either that, or, he won some 'BE AN MK CHARACTER' contest that we didn't know about.

Even his name is stupid. Stryker is insignificant, flavorless garbage.

IF STRYKER RETURNS, MK WILL BE POISONED!!!!

Lui Kang was a good start. Sonya would be a good next choice.

The current version of Jax in MK:DA, in my opinion, completely replaces Stryker. Having Stryker in the game now would just seem like having a duplicate character.

Stryker was great, IMO. He's no where near the same as Jax. That's crazy talk.

He's tight. He was very cheap though. I mean, with him it was almost impossible to lose if you used his moves well.

So i'm gonna say either A or B.. not really sure..

Yeah, Stryker has, and always will be, better than Jax. But that's opinion.

I agree, we dont have a very good chance of him returning. But if among us few Stryker fans, we had a good artist, somebody could draw a concept sketch of how alot of us see him in our heads-kickass. That would surely change a few opinions.
It may be a tad late to add this, maybe someone else has brought this up.

I believe in MKA we are led to believe that Kabal and Stryker WERE killed.

The whole thing that preceeded Rain saying "But master..."

Kahn asked "Did you make them beg for their lives before taking their souls?" or something to that effect, and Kahn gets pissed...Rain says "It will never happen again"...then Kahn says "You're right, it will never happen again."...and then smashes him with his mallet...and into the flames Rain goes. So, we are led to believe that Kabal and Stryker are dead...BUT it has no influence on the games I believe, just like Raiden and Shao Kahn are not really brothers in the games....I don't believe so anyway.

I want him back. He is one of my favorite characters.

I disagree with the notion that he doesn't fit in. He fits in MK3 perfectly. The whole point of the MK3 story is that Kahn has taken over Earth and the good guy's backs are against the wall. Almost everyone is dead. The setting is modern day post apocolyptic Earth. A riot cop all alone in a huge city struggling to stay alive makes perfect sense. No, he isn't a mystical warrior. No, he isn't a ninja. He is a normal guy and he is all that is left to save humanity. Him and just a handful of others are all that stands a chance at stopping an army of unholy monsters. Stryker DEFINES the theme of the story.

One thing that bugs me about UMK3 and MKT is that they flooded the roster with palatte swap ninjas. More characters is a good thiing, but it took the focus away from the struggle between a ragtag bunch of humans against a mighty warlord. If you ask me it's all the filler Outworld characters like Rain or Ermac who don't belong.

Stryker did fit it with the MK3 story, after all he is a cop and sworn to Protect and Serve. He was protecting Earthrealm in the only way he could.

I wouldn't mind seeing Stryker back, but he would need some updating and a story to explain his return after missing in the last two games. Both however, would be relatively easy compared to the return of some other characters in the past.

Sorry, must have been the dust in the air.

Good idea. I'd like to think that he "saw the harsh reality of Mortal Kombat, and he realised that, with the correct training ( He joined the SF and was absent for the previous two tournaments coz of this) he could help save the world, not just one American city.

I know it sucks as a story, but that could be a reason, maybe.

I never understood the Stryker hate. I remember hearing a lot of 'a cop doesn't belong in Mortal Kombat.' Why not? You got ninjas, movie stars, special forces agents, monks, and a slew of others. Mortal Kombat was always about variety in its cast (well, aside form the 13 different ninjas... can someone say overkill?).

I liked Stryker a lot in MK III because for ONCE, Mortal Kombat had an 'average Joe' type of characters. Face it, most of us are never going to be ninjas like Sub-Zero and Scropion, a movie star like Johnny Cage, a mercinary thug like Kano, a martial arts master like Lui Kang, a princess like Kitana, a clone like Mileena, a four armed beast like Goro/Sheeva/Kintaro, an evil sorceror like Shang Tsung, or a mystic monk like Kung Lao.

For once in the series' history, it was nice to see just an every day guy like Stryker and say 'Hey, I could be like him.' To me, he represented that you didn't have to be a thunder god or a member of an age-old ninja clan to fight and protect for what you love. He had no mystic powers or super-natural abilities. He didn't need them. He showed that even the average guy can stand-up against the bad guys. And that's why I loved him.

To this day, I feel like Stryker is the only 'real' Mortal Kombat character. Sure everyone else is cool and what-not, but they're fictional. They're just awesome in the context of the story. Stryker was cool because he was just the opposite. His character brought a sense of believability in an otherwise unbelievable story line. I hope Midway brings him back, but screw that Special Forces crap. Sonya and Jax (Jax rocked in MK II and was tolerable in MK III and IV, but I'm sorry, he was a joke in DA) is enough. As it is it's bad enough that they drug Cyrax into their fruiity Special Forces club.

So to vote, I'm going with "A."

However, on the subject of worst Mortal Kombat character, I'd throw in the entire (new) MK 4 cast except Quan Chi and Fujin. Kai, Shinnok, and Tanya were just horrible. In DA, Drahmin, Bo Rai Cho, and Hsu Hao were pretty pointless in my opinion. I'd take Stryker back over Kai, Shinnok, Tanya, Drahmin, Bo Rai Cho, and Hus Hao any day.

There's not a single playable character from MK I, II, and III that I didn't at least tolerate. In fact I enjoyed them all. However all but two new characters in 4 (those two being Quan Chi and Fujin) sucked and half of the new character roster were horrible characters in DA (Frost, Kenshi, Mavado, and Nitara were great, but Bo Rai Cho, Drahmin, Hsu Hao, and Li Mei [a crappy version of Mileena] were not).

I hope Deception goes back to MK 1-3 in that every character counts and deserves to be there instead of 4 and DA where uninspired new characters plague 1/4 the roster.
edit} Now that I think about it, Shinnok wasn't too bad. Tanya, Kai, and Karek were still unexcusable though.

I really like this idea. I think it'd be such a natural progression of his story. In MK3 he was unprepared and had no idea about Outworld and all that...now he's back, ready and has been training for years.

A.

Stryker was my favourite character when I first played Mortal Kombat. I've always loved MK3 the most, because it was the first game I ever played. It might have been because I was just an 8 year old kid, but I always thought Stryker was the coolest. I think Stryker generally appeals to the more kiddie players as well as some of his general fanbase (like me). I've taken the liberty to write a story for him. I too thought it would be cool to have him return as a SWAT agent, so keep that in mind when you picture his styles in MKD.

After the third tournament, Stryker went back to living in the big city. He was a little ticked off though, because everyone went on living like nothing had happened, yet Stryker had seen four-legged horsemen, four-armed women, killer robots, magic ninjas, 10,000 year old princesses, sorcerers and Elder Gods. He was forever tourmented by this. He couldn't tell anybody, in fear that he would be ruled as insane and locked up. A soul protected by Raiden, he was not tied to the motions of the normal citizens of Earth.

For years Stryker was filled with a rage created by Earth. Whenever he thought of his home, he thought of it as a realm. He was fearful with knowledge of greater powers. He was angry at Raiden, for forcing him to undergo the changes to himself (which he known pictured as his soul). He was filled with questions like "Why couldn't Raiden just let me get consumed by Shao Kahn, then let me get back to his normal life, instead of forever tormenting him to this life?". He wanted to scream out to Raiden, and ask him out aloud, but surrounded by city life, he felt that would only give him an insanity label. He had dreams. Dreams that gave him visions of Shinnok & Quan Chi, which he labeled as fiction and tricks of the mind. But when the dreams shifted to dreams of Shang Tsung (who he factually recognized) and Quan Chi, he realized that Raiden had been sending them to him to try and get him to serve his "realm" once again.

Stryker was easily promoted to SWAT, as his encounters with Outworld made everything seem easy. Yet, he felt now more than ever, the sole survivor of a city once populated by millions. What good is being a citizen of a city and a country, if you feel like an imigrant from another planet. This mentality led Stryker to years of misconception. He finally went insane and decided to act.

Another idea as to what may have happened to Stryker after MK3.

In MKD, he returns as a member of the Red Dragon. Has the honorable riot cop turn bad...or is he an Special Forces agent who has infiltrated the group?

I HATE STRYKER!!!!

It's not the fact that he's a cop. He doesn't even make me think of a cop.

His look makes me think he's a cheap security guard, at best.

The guy that played Stryker was pretty unimpressive, as well. Perhaps if they mad him really kick-glass and gave him some magic moves, he'd be worth checking out. It seems anyone that uses a gun in a fighting game should win everytime.

You'd think one gunshot to the head would win every round.

Stryker looked like a stupid human being wearing a security guard costume with a hat backwards.

He does not even look like a cop!!

PLEASE DO NOT BRING STRYKER BACK!!!!

(Unless you give him a much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much better edge and some mysticism (magic special moves))

Everyone in MKDA has these fancy, elaborate, ancient Asian martial arts. It'd be cool to see him with a modern set of styles like boxing and vale tudo. Boxing could be like Steve Fox in Tekken. He could duck and weave. Vale Tudo is like UFC style anything goes street fighting. He could use take downs, chokes and holds. Simple but brutal stuff.

There's so many possibilities for moves with a SWAT guy. He could use a SWAT shield to reflect fireballs. He could throw gas to stun the opponent. There's a bunch of fun stuff they could do for special moves or Fatalities.

Stryker had a girlfriend and she was an informant for the Special Forces about the Black Dragon because she was a member. Her mother was a black dragon member and her father was a red dragon member. Her mother grew to hate the Black Dragon for everything the Black Dragon stands for; the murder, terrorism and madness, whereas the Red Dragon still had an Aura of mystery surrounding them, an unknown source of power. The Red Dragon was the big league; the Black Dragon was just a group of thugs. So, she joined her husband.

The girlfriend had dedicated her life to the Red Dragon as well as her mother had, because she was a member of both clans. One Day an upstart named Mavado killed her mother for he knew that the mother was a former black dragon member. Although the battle was fierce, Mavado came out the victor. The girlfriend knew that if she betrayed the Red Dragon she would die. She also knew of Hsu Hao, the adopted older brother of Mavado, a Clan fanatic. Due to his artificial chest implant, Hsu Hao is loyal to the leadership of the Clan and its ideals.

When Mavado was in command of the Red Dragon, He ordered Hsu Hao and the girl to join Special Forces, and under the Leadership of Sonya and Jax, they could destroy Special Ops Base. The girl still had connections into the Black Dragon, however, and she had been telling the Special Forces where they were for some time. The girl had also paid many Black Dragon members to work for her and when she didn’t need their services any longer; she would tell the Special Forces where that member or members were. During the Invasion of Earth Realm, she met and fell in love with a defender named Stryker. After the invasion, she and Stryker started to train together at the Special Force Base. She died in the explosion with many of the Special ops members and a few of the Red Dragon spies. Mavado ordered Hsu Hao not to tell the other spies because they were endanger the mission and the new alliance with Quan Chi. While he was saddened with this order, Hsu Hao completed the mission and he faithfully returned to his master Mavado and Quan Chi. Hsu Hao had found out that Quan Chi had order Mavado to order him to detonate the bomb with the Red Dragon spies inside as a test of loyalty. Hsu Hao became very angry at this because he had fallen for the girl who has been working with, but said nothing for the fear of being murdered my Mavado and Chi.

During this time, Stryker was tending to the injured and the dying. He had found his girlfriend on the ground dying where she had pushed him into the room before the bomb went off. With a fit of rage, he wanted to join Jax so he could personally to rip out Hsu Hao's throat. He swore revenge but wasn’t given permission by his superiors, when they could see foolhardiness and recklessness shining through him, like he was as a younger riot policeman. Incidentally, Jax had to search for Hsu Hao and this Red Dragon clan alone. No longer needing to worry about hurting the trust of his girlfriend, Stryker told everything about the Red Dragon clan that she had told him before she died.

As she lay bloodied amongst the rubble, she sobbed to her boyfriend.
“It was the man Hsu Hao. It was he who bought in the bomb. I thought we were just gathering information but that bastard Mavado must’ve changed the plan. I’m sorry. I knew if I told you I would end up dead. Sorry.”
She didn’t even get to tell him she loved him before she died.

I hope you like it. The original ideas are by DeathScepter but I rewrote it into my own words and changed a couple of things.

Fighting Styles: Krav Maga= Israel Self Defence Style for their Law enforcement and Military. It uses anything from Restaint to dislocations to Death dealing blows. IT is a great martial art to fight off terrorists and other bad guys.

Tao Chi Do=a rare Combat Style from Asia that has superior almost superhuman defence. Also It is known to be quite ruthless and nasty fighting style. Even powerful Muay Thai kick boxers and Wing Chun Fighters can’t get past the "Voodoo" defence of Tao Chi Do.

The styles were also suggested by DeathScepter. I really like Tao Chi Do for him.
