Ignoring for a moment if he should be in the next game or not, why do so many people not like styrker? In terms of playing the game he was a very good character! Very cheap. I speculate that it is partly because of his goofy costume. But the big part I think is because he was american, he had blonde hair, and he was a cop. Now, I don't like cops a lot but I think that is why he is not liked. Are those good reasons? No. So if you Styrker bash here please tell me why you don't like him so much.
As for him in the upcomming game I stand by what I said above... if you can give him a good story and make him fun to play as, then put him in it.

KURTIS STRYKER RULES..............but he would need a good story to keep up with the new ones........and yes the movies have nothing to do with the games. If that was true Noob would be a shadow of Ermac, Shao Kahn would be Raidens brother and Shinnoks son............come onnnnnnnnnnn

^Thats true. The story in the movies sucked.

So currently, we are pretty much split between people who would like him back (with changes) and people that want him killed....dead.

Well, we know why criminals hate Stryker, he's a cop!

I my bashing status of him just depends on the mood I'm in. Just like with MKA and MK4. That and he only uses grenades and sticks and guns. I'm guessing we were so into the magical stuff that we just bashed Stryker.

Although I doubt the chance of Stryker returning, I would AT LEAST like a mention of him, explaining what happened to him. Same goes for all the other chars they just abandoned.
Most of you have no creativity.. and if you did - youd be able to make any character cool.

Ive posted this before.. but youd have Stryker in a full flakk suit, balaclava (headmask), and goggles. Total freakin badass. All this hairdryer gun shit - give them credit.. it was the first actual gun in MK, they had to keep it simple and not insanely offensive, although it was one of the most bloodiest moves.

Fatalities would be like radio in a team to zipline from the sky and shoot the shit outta the opponent (helicopter sounds and all, blowing dust all over the ground, awesome).

I chose letter...d. I never really felt that Stryker belonged in the MK world. I didn't get that MK vibe from him and his storyline wasn't that great either.

I wouldn't really want him to return. I think that the MK team has left Stryker in the past and I think they'll keep it that way. If and I mean if he somehow, for some reason makes it into MK6, he should have a new storyline, a better look, a good purpose, good moves and fighting styles, etc.

No Never want to see the fat wana-be cop. Instead of him I beleive that Noob, jade, mileena, and some others would be a better choice.

I agree with you so much there that it is not funny. Stryker would be great in mk6, and your fatality idea is cool too.
Maybe, in his story, he has been in training after his loss at MK3, knowing that he didn't have what it takes to be a true MK warrior. After all, he was just there by chance last time.
And so he trained, and trained and trained, the whole time from then until now. He's built himself some pretty solid skills in kickboxing and, I dunno, something else, through his own motivation. He finally feels that he can step up to the plate and, after joining the SF through the guidance of Raiden, he can once again fight along side Earth's best. Of course, armed to the teeth with a gun and bombs and stuff, in SWAT gear.
Please read this, Midway. :P

Well, it was close, but it seems the verdict is, with improvements, Stryker should return.
YES (As he is or with Improvements)-13
NO-11
Now do so, Midway. We <3 you!

Sorry if this is too old to bump, but we have quite a few more members now, alot who didnt vote.
With Kustomizable characters, think of the potential Stryker could have, as well as any of the other MK'ers.

I'd say B. but of course i'd like to see any previous character return and have a more in depth story..... and is it just me, or does he look alot more like that guy who played "Al Bundy" on that old show Married with children, than he looks like Woody Harelson?

Hey, I'm pretty new around here and I am making my first topic. If you've read any of my other posts you would probably conclude I am a bit of a Stryker fanboy.

Ok, here we go:
Should Curtis Stryker be bought back in MK6?

a. Yeah, I loved him just the way he was.
b. He was ok, if they totally remade him, gave him a new look and some cool fighting styles, plus a new storyline, let him back in!
c. Meh, I don't care about him at all. It doesn't worry me about his fate.
d. Stryker sucked! Kill him dead!

There you go. What do you think? I'm gunna say b, I just have a perfect vision of what this guy could be like in mk6.

I think most people's beef with Stryker stems from the fact that he had no place in MK3, or Mortal Kombat in general. When MK3 came out, instead of seeing fan favourites like Scorpion, Baraka and Raiden return, we were greeted by a slightly overweight street cop who looked like he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. There wasn't anything really interesting about him story wise, he just showed up from nowhere without any real backstory or interesting motives or anything. And on top of that, he's not even an interesting concept to begin with. He's a generic 'average joe' kind of guy, and there's nothing about neither his story nor Micheal O'Brien's performance that suggests that he's even a proficient martial artist. Having someone like him fight almost superhuman warriors like Sub-Zero or Shang Tsung on even terms has no credibility, even within the boundaries of Mortal Kombat.

With that said though, I wouldn't really mind seeing him return, as long as both his absence and subsequent reappearance has a good explanation. If they give him some personality and a decent storyline/involvement in the main plot, I think he could be a decent character. It'll be very interesting to see what they're doing with previously boring characters like Ermac and Nightwolf in this respect... Maybe I'll actually be able to like them this time around. tongue

In conclusion: It could be fun to see Stryker again, and I'm pretty confident he could be a good character if he actually had anything to do in the game. Should he be left out and forgotten in future games he certainly won't be missed, though.

"it just wouldnt look right how can a street cop kill a skilled ninja or how can a street cop kill a shaolin monk."

How do we know he never knew any form of martial art? We just assume he didn't. Like others have said, I think with much improvement, Stryker could turn out good. Him being in the Special Forces is the only way I see him returning. Any other way would just be throwing him in. His story in MK3 was that he was the lone survivor in a city destroyed by Kahn's extermination squads...and that's all she wrote.

As far as a chance of seeing him return...highly unlikely. One, because the MK team knows who we like and don't like. Stryker probably being one of the most hated characters in MK, so I doubt they'd have him return in Deception. Though, he'll be in the Konquest mode!
