I was always pretty much excellent at all of them. Granted when MK and MK2 came out I was only around 12, so I wasn't that good, but after a few months at the arcade I became a machine. I remembered people lining up to play and then knokcing them all down. This wasn't as true in MK3...that was probably my worst game, but in MK4 i completely owned...everytime I went to play it at the arcade it was murder. If only the game wasn't so meh... As for MKDA, I wouldn't know, since I never had the opportunity to play against other people than my friends, who subsequently I destroyed anyway. Problem is MKDA lost its appeal for me after about 2 or 3 weeks, and I haven't played it in at least 8 or 9 months, so whatever skill I may have had in that game is completely gone now.

Basically this thread is to see who thinks they will dominate when MK:D comes out. You can talk how good you are all day long, now we have a way to see if people are full of it or not. I think online play is the best invention since sliced bread. I mean, anyone who is the best of the best will be able to put that to the ultimate test...Which is no boundries or limits to who you can play. Pending they have it for the designated system with online software.Ahhhh, it's going to be great to be the best MK play....AGAIN.

I started playing MK1 in the arcades when I was about 15 so I've experienced them all pretty thoroughly. I don't think you can accurately judge your skills without having lived through the arcade days of MK1-4 when tons of people would play. I would usually frequent many places that I knew had the machines in hopes of finding more and more competition. Not too many people were playing MK1 around my area but MK2 was huge. There were always 8-10 people around a machine on the weekends. I would say the core group of guys that really could play numbered around 5. Out of them there was 1 that was clearly better than all the rest and then the other 4, including me, were pretty equal. MK3 didn't get that big, then I moved to AZ where MK4 had quite a few players. I think that I did best on that one out of all the MK's. I can honestly say that I never played someone that I thought was better than me, but did play someone that was just as good. I'm also looking forward to the online play of MK:Deception to see how I would rank against everyone else in the country. I would hope I could be in the top 100 at least, but it's hard to say considering how many people will be playing. I don't feel the total control of characters on the console systems and controllers as I did with the standing arcade units.

Hey BIGALAZ, I am in Az also, where did you play MK4 at? I don't ever recall playing anyone that decent at it. MK2 had the most people by far, but you said you moved here after MK2 days. I'm in the west valley, where did you use to play MK4 though?

I mean, you always hear people say how good they are and if they could play you, they would beat you this bad and blah blah. So not people will have a chance to prove how good they are... And, more importantly, see who is the best all around. Back in the MK2 days, someone could be the best person around town, but in some other town they could get spanked. I would like to call out all people who used to dominate back in the good ole' arcade days and announce themselves as either: Fair-Average-Good-Really Good-or Elite. Just out of curiosity. I would like to see who is or isn't what they say. Thanks for your time. "Life's a garden, Dig it" |
If you asked this question when MK4 came out, I would have said 'Really Good'. I was able to win most of the time either against the machine or against other players at the arcade.
However, since I became out of practice with work demanding most of my time. (Haven't seen the inside of an arcade in years
