If it is 4 blinking lights, your AV cable is unplugged. If there are 2, it is overheated. But if there are 3 flashing red lights, congratulations, you have the red ring of death. You now have to send it in for repairs.

Check all the cables especially video output. Replug everything back in and if that doesn't help, pick up the phone and call Microsoft.

Don't worry though, since microsoft gave the 3 year warranty, all repairs should be free. Oh yeah, and you are probably having problems with the disc drive. Letting it sit for a few weeks can build up dust in there. Thanks btw, you just reminded me that i haven't run my x box in a week.
