You know I am not excited

I remember years ago that I have collected everything from previous games, screenshots, videos, trailers, renders.

But this game do not convince me.

I still hate, and respect who likes it.

But MK definitely need a step in the future, with a superb storyline, new characters, new fatalities, more blood, a more dark an realistic game.

MK VS DC is the wrong step.

I was shocked at first, then skeptical, now I'm sure: it's a stupid idea.

I despised the idea. But when it was confirmed that it wasn't canon, my worries started to ease. But currently, I'm back to square one. I don't like it. While everyone one else may think its a step in the right direction, I don't. This isn't reinventing the MK franchise. Yes, financially it may be helping, but MK vs DC is a complete bastardization of what MK is all about. I can only hope that the darker MK we were promised is delivered. And that they truly start from scratch. No more recycled fighting animations from MK Armageddon please.

Didn't care for it on the announcement and don't care for it now. Some things look intriguing, but this is a title I'll pick up in the $30 or less bin. The animations still look extremely stiff, graphically the game looks bland, and the character selection is hardly what I would have liked to see. I own every MK on the SNES, PS1, and PS2. This one won't be hitting my 360 any time soon.

I still hate the idea. It's beyond lame. Maybe they needed time to work out how to clean up the mess Deception and Armageddon made of the plot?

i didnt like this idea from the start cause i didnt think the characters wouldnt mesh right, but now as im seeing this i am begining to like the idea, eventhough not all the characters fit in well with MK. Im also at ease because this game isnt cannon, if ut was id be totally against it, cause this would destroy the already weakened mk story line.

Even if Sindel were playable, I'd still hate half of this game because half of it is DC. I just think the DC characters that made it are dumb and boring except for Joker. And we got some boring DC arenas and crap like that too.

The gameplay is the only thing I like so far, but it can turn out to be lame still.

I'd be much more into this game had it been ALL MK and not some crossover with goody goody "super friends" DC.

I actually liked the idea when it was announced and I like the idea now.

While most of the MK purists want more of the same with a series thats shown no ability over the last few entries to be inventive or different. I was open to any sort of change.

MK3 through Trilogy were the same damn thing with minor differences to the roster and arenas. MK:DA through MKA were the same damn thing minus small differences in roster, fighting styles, etc.

The story mode will make this game worthwhile if nothing else does.

There comes a point in time when people need to jump off the ride known as nostalgia. If anything MK has become a gimmick of itself that reinvents itself once every 4 games then it reverts back to cheap sequels with small differences much like Street Fighter.

DC works well with MK. The characters arent as completely cartoonish as Marvel characters even though Marvel characters are arguably more entertaining. Contrary to what people say, DC characters throughout history have always been mature and Dark.

The only thing I would say about DC is I wish they would've just let MK go with the M rating and go all out with fatalities at the very least.

Blood I never really cared what they did with it. Blood has always been a selling point of MK but at the same time some of it has been over the top.

In the end, it comes down to two choices really for MK purists.

Support MK and buy MK vs DC. Hope for an MK9 afterwards with probably more of the same.

Or

Dont buy this game because you dont want to buy it and want to show hatred for the idea or because you dont want to see the idea prosper and potentially spawn a series onto itself.

Either way, new life has been breathed into MK one way or another. With as much hype as this game is getting. The Kollectors edition Comic Book which will probably be a fun read.

Hell maybe even a MK vs DC movie after Batman 3 with Nolan which will feature a Christian Bale led Batman, a Hugh Jackman led Superman and a Javier Bardem as Sub Zero as well as Robert Downey Jr as Scorpion.

That would be epic.

Well..this still isn't the MK ive been waiting for..for sooooooo looongg, so until then I'm still..hmm.. majorly dissapointed. Tough a little bit less I must admit. I'm more calm now ..because turning back to a more 2d oldskool type of gameplay gave me some hope.(tough the gimmicks not). This MK looks better in gameplay terms. Seeing Tobias getting back in someway gave me a good feeling. So there are some things that are really positive after these years. But it still isn't THAT Mortal Kombat looking at things sofar..because the game isn't out yet and that is a important note.

My hate had nothing to do with DC itself. I can live with DC..but Im dissapointed that they didn't release the MK that MK needed..the MK that we deserve, esspecially after buying mediore games from them. I already knew that they (read Midway) where milking MK the last years..so the decision for a crossover didn't came as a total suprise (tough DC was kinda..."HUH?").
What shocked me and when I created some hate was the fact that they misuse a game that some people love..and I mean really love..a game people grew up with...have a special bond with..a game that cannot be replaced by another game for them.

Today..that hate is gone (leaving just dissapointment) because Im older then that....but they are making it hard for me.

ps. blehh Im tired of typing this story over and over.

After Armageddon many of us wanted that dark gritty MK game that Boon was talking about. When the countdown on noob. com reached zero, and the blurry picture showed up, man was I stoked. I was totally ready to find out who survived Armageddon along with how MK with the Unreal 3 engine was going to look like. Then Midway put out an embargo on any further released media of the game until the next day. I thought it was going to be so special, I scheduled a day off work and college giddy to get the scoop on the next gen MK news.

When I saw that pic of Sub-Zero facing Batman I couldn't believe it. In denial I held on to the notion that it could possibly be for the Wii. Then there was the announcement. I was just as shocked and pissed as many others. The following Gamespot interview pissed me off the most though. In that interview I felt that Boon was trying to explain how they made the transition from one cluster fuck(Armageddon) to an even bigger one(MK vs DC). There's gonna be this big event and uhm there's gonna be these big hits and uhm its gonna be a boxing match, and no fatalities; you'll just have to beat Superman to death lol.

None of that made any earthly since to me. Then the marketing team came to him in MK8 mid development and proposed the idea to him. I was pissed at the marketing people as well. The teen rating thing was like the nail in the coffin. After that interview I thought MK was dead. I felt that they knelt to the lengthy schlong of DC. I thought it was a Kamakazie like gamble with Midway's bread and butter franchise.

At the moment I wasn't thinking about how the teen rating, along with the added DC fanbase could potentially be a lucrative move for them. Over time I just became an Observer seeing where this thing was going to end up. I found myself liking the Sonya, Scorpion, and even the Kitana render. When they said fatalities will be in the game I got a little excited again. The Joker fatality really made me want to get the game.

Yes, at times watching the gameplay videos I was tempted to nitpick because I saw that some of Batman's combos, and those same rehashed wake ups from armageddon. When they released the video where Greenberg and Edwards was talking about how open ended the gameplay was going to be I got my hopes up again. I want to play some of the MK team members online.

In conclusion I'll probably never like the mash up concept, but watching the videos and how they won back many of the fans along with gaining DC ones, it looks like they've pulled it off. I look forward to playing this game now and I'm actually interested in seeing how the story will play out. Also I'm looking forward to a better online experience and gameplay than Armageddon.
