*checks in* Since when was online play confirmed? Just an online component. Which I imagine will have to do with stats and maybe koins and the krypt. For the people already making weekly schedules of every saturday and how many 12 packs of Mt Dew they'll need, stop before you're ahead! They'll have to code every system for online play since cross platforming is not going to happen. They'll have to take in consideration 56k play since the Gamecube and PS2 support it. And how in god's name is a 56k player going to play a fighting game online seriously? Dead Or Alive and CVS2 are both online because they're coded for one system, capable software to put online (they're older), and broadband only. You think Midway is going to accomplish all that for three systems within this amount of time? Fighting games won't be online for real until next generation. If you think otherwise keep dreaming.
Well now I'm bound to be called wrong so let's hear these impossible theories on how it's going to be played online. How it's going to be coded for three versions which are all going to take advantage of each system's hardware in this amount of time. Hey don't get me wrong I want it to. But it just isn't going to happen this generation. Too many things have to happen. If i'm wrong, I will shave my hair and dress as a woman.

You'll never see a fighter online for the PS2 or GC though because of the 56k both provide. Now Xbox Live I don't doubt so much. Hell, Soul Calibur 2 was being tested on Live for awhile but they didn't have the time to do it. So what makes you think Midway can actually pull this off on three systems with 56k play in mind?

it might be only on x box live, which i wouldnt mind because i have one, hehe

Those same broadband adaptors will be used with those same 56k adaptors I was speaking of earlier. See where I'm going? Example: Both 56k and broadband have to intertwine on Madden because there's no otherway around it. Now if Sony and Nintendo shitted on 56k all together like they should have, I could see this game being done and online by the time it's released. But they have to take into consideration for the 56k people that will also be on the same servers as the broadband people. That's why it'd only work on Xbox live and that's why the only online fighting games are for Xbox live and not the other two. Midway would get death threats from fanboys if their beloved system that didn't say "XBOX" on it didn't have online play. That's why it won't be released for Xbox live either. Trust me I'm not starting a fanboy war here but it's just the truth. The 56k adaptors for both GC and PS2 pretty much shoot down online play for MK6 all together. Plus they'd have to host their own servers on GC and PS2 like EA with Madden. *throws fanboy comment in anyway* Now if Midway just made the game for Xbox this post wouldn't have been made
As for an MK Kollection on 56k, still wouldn't happen. Even on broadband there was lag from when I used to play on Mame a few months ago. Fighting games just can't be played on 56k. Too many precise movements involved in a fighting game.

There is no confirmation of the classics being re-released...and no 56k cant handle the old mk's. I played a friend on znes who was on 56k and the lag was horrible.

Yeah, quan_chilli, I get what you're saying. I just misuderstood you when you said 'You'll never see a fighter online for the PS2 or GC though because of the 56k both provide.'

They might make it broadband only, like U.S. Navy Seals on the PS2. Thought about that, yet? It's just a guess, though.

Ahhh I actually didn't know they did that *owned*. The other points still stand though. Coding, hosting their own servers, etc.
Well, so much work can be done in over a year, we have no real perception of the features of the game. But, for the NCAA College Football 2004 there is online play enabled. It wont upset me if I cant play XBOX users, so the cross-system online play doesnt bother me.
I just hope and hope that they have online play because I am damn tired of resorting the ZSNES to play someone who knows a damn thing about MK.

Here in the UK PS2 is broadband only there is no 56k support so they could make MK online here, but PS2 online at the moment isn't that good, there are lots of problems getting it online, not all the ISP's here support it and those who do, require a PC aswell to work. so i doubt they would do it here for MK6,the only online thing if they did do something would be downloads of extra costumes etc. i think online fights would be for the next gen systems by that time the networks should be more stable have a bigger user base, more support and they might of thought of a way to cross platform, (tho i doubt that).

I know topping posts will get your wrists slapped here but it's actually better than making a new post about it. The Midway Classics coming out soon (w/ Spyhunter and all that) WILL have XBL support (none for the others) to keep track of high scores across the globe. Maybe MK6 will do the same for XBL. Only time will tell but atleast we now know Midway is using XBL.

If it's broadband only....I'll cry!!!!!1 I won't be able to own your sorry asses.
