Savate and Pencak Silat Two awesome styles, Who should get em?
| The_Truth Wrote: Helena uses Hika-Ken (Pi Qua Quan). |
Thanks! So that's actually already in the game then. It's Scorps style right? I don't know except for a few arm movements it just seemed to different. ya know? Helena's was very graceful and actually looked like a dance. Hard to see that they are basically the same.

In the new German Trailer, appears Bakara fighting against Noob... and Baraka used the Silate's Fighting Style (Silate = Pencak Silat?)

Yeah I saw that! That's awesome. Maybe we'll see Savate as well? I mean the character that has Silat (Baraka) can still change but at least it's in there! I'm so happy about that.
its for a big and strong fighter. also it is about kicks, and such. and its a bruce lee move that he used for his fighting.
lui kang works with kicks. he is strong and powerful. plus he is a bruce lee wannabee.
savate doesnt fit under tanya.
it fits PERFECTLY with lui kang.
since lui kang does a lot of kicks. has his kickboxing stance, does the bruce lee moves.
its for lui, i think better. tanya shuldnt have that style. i dont want any generic ppl that will die off to have a good fighting style, cause then we will miss their fighting styles, but not them.
IMO tanya will die off sooner or later, she isnt needed that much compared to others like subzero.

Don't know if this is a different 'silat' you are refering to, but the silat I know is a traditional South East Asian form of martial art, and is actually quite popular in my country (Malaysia).
The weapon normally associated with silat is something called a 'keris'. It is a small dagger about the size of a sai, but with a zig-zag blade (Like Liu Kang's snake sword in MK4).
The hand movements are almost similar to that of Scorpion's hapkido style in MKDA.

Some info on Silat:
Silat is an umbrella term for the martial arts of indonesia and Malaysia (and some surrounding areas).
In the same way "kung-fu/gong-fu" could refer to Wing Chun,ng cho,Shaolin Fist etc etc, Silat are many too.For example there are approximately 750 official styles of Silat in Indonesia and approx 450 official styles in Malaysia.
There are many Silat styles based on animals,in particular Harimau (Tiger), Rajawali (Eagle) and Cimande (incudes several animals such as snake).
(There are also styles with no animals of course.)
Practioners usually wear all black like ninjutsu practioners, and also a black headband.
Typical Silat weapons Keris (wavy bladed dagger ,though some have no waves(loks),parang(machete),pisau(knife),(including toe-knives!,),cane(tongkat),scarf(cindai)
Silat moves include all types of techniques strikes and blocks, close quarter combat, groundfighting, fighting multiple opponents and training blindfolded and in water.Typically students will learn what are known as taihenjutsu(for those that know ninjutsu styles) this including dive rools over people, objects and rings of fire etc.
There have also been female Silat warriors in Malay history, not only men! Silat being very suitable to people of small build.
Never heard it called "Silate" though! Possibly a typo by Midway. This is possibly the first fighting game to have Silat in it in some form...
Hope they've put some typical moves in!
