You do realize you're on a Mortal Kombat forum, right? You know, Mortal Kombat, as in the series which ('til 2002) was based solely around special moves.

Brilliant deduction my dear Watson!
In all seriousness I just assumed most MK fans would rather leave that primitive system with the early series and return to it for the sake of nostalgia only.

Or does reverting back into special-moves-orientated fighter in the year 2008 really appeal to you? Doesn't matter if it does, that's your opinion. I'll just have to humbly disagree.
I can't remember who said it, but someone around here said "I grew up with MK, but it seems MK didn't grow up with me." I would rather this statement weren't true, hence why I'm a little let down at this simple "special moves make you special" idea they're going for. Is that so wrong?

Special moves are the reason I play MK. I still do them more than ordinary combos in DA, Deception, and Armageddon.

If you prefer the Tekken way of doing things, I have to ask why you don't just play Tekken and be happy with that instead of being a downer in the forums of games that aren't Tekken.

At this point I just want a fighting system thats functional with enough depth to keep me coming back, I'm not ( and never have been ) expecting a MK as deep as Soul Calibur..

I do have to agree with PR. I am getting bored watching footage of the same characters doing absolutely nothing new. And my worry is, this is exactly how it's gonna be when people get this game home. I already do not have high hopes for the replay value of this game, and so far nothing has been said or revealed to get me excited about picking up the controller and playing again after I've beaten story mode.

this
The sound effects are fuckin awesome. I can't wait to hear it on my sound system. Probably the best SE in any fighting game to date.

I like how destroyed flashs costumes gets as the fight progresses

I know that sorta happened to their faces in the previous games, but you could only really see it after the fight when it did a close up,
this seems more obvious

in terms of it relying on special moves...One of the things I like about MK is that you can just pick up and play it with non gamers and have fun
its not as in depth as other beat ups true but thats a good thing, Not everyone needs a game that takes hours to perfect and just frustrates new plaers cause they cant keep up with you!!! if that makes any sence...

This game is far to brutal to be T-rated.

I was able to see the inside of Scorpion's back, man! The inside! That is so M-rated. Regardless of what Boon is going for, this game will always be M-rated to me.

No amount of blood could possibly match up to the cuts and bruises these people are getting in this game.

Hmm, good game footage. but, am I the only one not liking that there are no transitions after your opponent is beaten the first round. He just falls and hops back up. If you guys remember, in MK Armageddon, when you lost the first round your fighter of choice would get up from being knocked out with some sort of move. Fujin used wind to levitate, Rain used water, Sub used his ice blast to propel himself from the floor, or even your KAK's simply hitting the ground in frustration. I hope that's an element they are adding. Would make the fighting more believable if they did.

I noticed that also, I'm fine with it. I was actually concerned that they would change the "Round per Round" sequence. In other words like most fighters the screen goes black like the older MK's and has Round One, Round Two etc.

I liked that they kept the MK:DA-MKA realistic postions from getting knocked down. But yeah I noticed they just get up real fast instead of using their powers. This might change once the games out though, but yeah lol I remember since I use Fujin looked like wind was coming out of his ass lol.

Ermac levitating himself was cool etc.

Check, can you tell me what part of the vid the stun move you're talking about is?glasses

BTW, LOL@ the people making a stink about "special moves" umm MK's ALWAYS been about magic, gods and special moves...SF as well, well pardon the gods part..
