Alright, it's been a while. Time has passed, and we've finally have been given another pic of Smoke. The red substance on his face, which most of us once thought was blood, is now apparently part of his mask. This was my first guess, but I just couldn't accept Smoke's face being that... ugly. Here's the pic.
I must admit, this is a bit of a disappointment. I don't think the red whatever-the-fuck-it-is fits Smoke at all. It knocks off a few points for charisma, but adds a few for originality. I must admit, he would look somewhat trite without it. although it's an odd aspect, it spicies up his outfit, a little.
Now my question: is the red substance a mineral-rock-type material, or is it muscle tissue. I'm seriously hoping it's the former, but I think tissue makes more sense. Perhaps he ripped the cybernetic mask from his face, and is cloaking the rest of his mangled body. Hell, that's a horrible concept. I hope that's not the "deeper reason."
And one more thing. For all those who didn't believe that this "ninja made out of smoke" was indeed Smoke, now it's confirmed... again. No more arguments after this point.
Thoughts.

Well this picture does show Smoke being punched in the face again, its my opinion that it is blood coming off his face, there is even blood on the floor by his feet.

How could it not be blood after seeing him being punched?
I will say that his appearance is lack luster. I was expecting something that resembled him in his cybernetic form, or at least something that looked interesting.

I thought it still looks like blood. He IS getting hit in the face, so it's very possible its blood, and almost 100% sure it is.
-Also I like this pic of Smoke a lot more than the last! In this one he looks kick-ass
But I'm still dissappointed that he isn't a cyber ninja.

Is someone willing to explain to me why this "blood" in front of his face is perfectly symetrical to the pic in IGN. Kep in mind, HE WASN'T getting hit in the face in the previous pick, he was getting sliced by baraka.

Smoke is the worst looking character in MKD so far. Jesus I can't beleive people say he looks cool. Pants, dumb mask, and smoke in him. WOW totally awesome character! Very well thought out! Great job Midway. Look at him, he looks plain, dull and dumb. They better make him look better. If they keep him like that he will be the worst MK character design ever. I like Stryker's look better than Smoke's.

First off, congrats on your promotion to Portal Gaurd. Second, I think that if it is part of hi mask, it's kind of dissapointing, whatever it is. But it's color scheme reminds me of dried blood, kind of like in DA. So that's what it could be, if in fact people cna have blood stains on their clothes. Doubtful, though. But I'm still hoping his alt. is kick ass.

I'm not requesting an explanation on why there is blood, I'm trying to get you guys to figure out how the blood from his body is the exact same distance, shape, and mass size on his face from when he get's hit in two seperate areas and locations.
Oh thats right... you can't.

If any of them look plain its Noob Saibot. I hope they explain how he got to this appearance and not act like nothing happened. And don't count on Smoke leaving either. =P

Nah man Noob's second costume is great. Looks like a plain ninja again. Not a complete different look but still and of cource a complete makeover. His first remindes me of his old look. Black and hard to make out. Just like a stealth ninja or a "shadow".

Remember Temp, in MKDA once you get hit blood flows from where the injury occured. I doubt that in the first pic Smoke is off balance because he got hit in the gut. And in the second pic Barakas' attack appears to have hit his upper torso, which could dtill have blood flowing from his face.

I just notcied this. If you look at the picture where Smoke is getting sliced by Baraka, it looks like his mask is shattered, and that's actually flesh underneath. In the second pic we see the same color pattern at the back of his skull, wtf!? I definetly detracts from the character and is a bit dissapointing.

True, but notice that the blood on the ground is dry. If the substance on his face isn't blood, then there is no blood emmitting from him at all. Also, if you look closer, you'll notice the blood is more crimson, and the stuff on Smoke's face is more of a maroon.

It's blood. If not, who cares. You would still play as him, would you not?

Yeah I've been going back and forth on that for a bit. I do see something interesting about smokes' mask, but with him gettin hit in both images, it's kinda hard to make a definite assumption. I'm not one to count any posibility though.

Smoke's wearing a mask, and he'll probably have an older ninja outfit as an alternate. Smoke's mask is indeed, Horrid. I liked how he looked alittle like Quan Chi (Not Really.) But it's a good change from Cyborg, because the only one meant to be a robot is Sektor's crazy ketchup colored ass. Smoke's mask is one of those older, Tribal Asian masks used to represent emotion, or scare of demons I believe.
