Secret characters---probably bull$hit but worth a look.

I found this on the gamefaqs forum, theres no reason to believe this guy but I thought you guys might want to check it out anyway. My bet is hes full of crap.

"I work for a printing company and early this week we got a contract job to print up strategy guides for Mortal Kombat Deception. Being a huge MK fan I took it upon myself to look and see what all was in the game since theres so many rumor flying around about the game. I wasn't able to look at it very long cause I wasn't supposed to be looking at it in the first place but here is some info i was able to find out. I know I'm probably going to be called a lier and be flamed for this but I'll post anyway.

The playable characters in the game are:

Scorpion
Baraka
Mileena
Sub-Zero
Kabal
Ermac
Bo' Rai Cho
Nightwolf
Ashrah
Dairou
Kobra
Darrius

Unlockable Characters:

Hotaru
Sindel
Li Mei
Kenshi
Raiden
Noob Smoke
Kira
Shujinko
Tanya
Jade
Havik
Liu Kang

As the rumors suggested there are 6 Hidden playable characters in the game. Most of them are unlocked by completing hidden side quests in Konquest mode after you have unlocked Shujinko. The characters are:

Kitana
Shang Tsung
Quan Chi
Sareena
Cyrax
Reptile

The disappointing part of these 6 are they all have one fatality and its the same fatality they had in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance except Sareena who uses Scorpion's arm rip fatality. Their fighting styles and special moves are the same as the last game while Sareena uses some of the new styles in Deception. The last thing I was able to look at was Reptile and it is true that he is NOT the Dragon King.

I will try to get my hands on another guide tomorrow to get more official info. By doing this I risk my job but they don't pay me enough to keep my mouth shut =)"

It'd certainly be interesting if true. Why Cyrax when all the fans are crying for Sektor, I wonder?

I wasn't aware you could play Konquest after you'd unlocked Shujinko. Very interesting.
At any rate, very potentially good find, dude. Thanks for sharing it. Quan, Shang, Sareena and Reptile were the people I had thought would be super-secrets. Adding Kitana and Cyrax seems cool to me.
Of course, you know I won't believe anything until I see it. wink

Well i know you can play konquest after unlocking shinjuko because I remember reading an interview with boon. He said that player will unlock super secret characters in konquest long after they beat it.

Those characters are ones I could definatly see being in the game, but I cant believe it without proof.

I don't believe it, and I really hope that it isn't true. If they have extra hidden characters they have to be better than just exact copies of the Deadly Alliance characters.

17wpermacwp17 - Why do they have to be better than just MKDA ports? It's been long suspected that any super secret characters would be exactly that.
Kitana and Sareena would mean 2 more chicks, bringing the MKD chick count to a record 9. I'm all for it. wink

Well, as far as the hidden 6, if it is true that that is the line-up and they retain the same moves, fighting styles, and fatalities as in MKDA, I would say that's bullshit. Why would I play hours on end to unlock those fighters when I can just as easily throw my MKDA cd into my playstation and play with them the same way. Only difference is it's a couple of untouched MKDA fighters that fight in a new game with a new story, new backgrounds, and against new people.

My ass will be chapped.

They'll probably get new endings. wink

At least I sure hope so. Again, I'm working on the assumption that this is true, which it very well may not be.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Reptile has been my favorite since MKII, but I'd rather not have him in the game at all than have the Reptile from DA again.

Heh, I PMd him about it and gave him an alternative hosting site to use. It's the one I use for my sprite comic.

But yeah, if this is true, it'll be fantastic. I couldn't ask for a better crop of super secrets.

Actually thats exactly why I could see this possibly being true, I cant remember the last time MK had a secret character that was completely new with all new moves and fatalities. Cyber Smoke is the only one that comes to mind.

If it is true, my only complaint is the fatalites thing...at least give sareena something new, Otherwise I'm pleased.

Quan Chi was one of my favorite characters, he just has a REALLY crappy fatality. I never had to look away from a fatality but when someone does that one I turn away just because it's so stupid. They should bring back his leg rip.

I'm okay with Shang Tsung and Quan Chi being some of the uber secret characters. I can even understand Kitana being in that group. But Cyrax?? Sareena?? Reptile??

I was hoping that Liu Kang, Shao Khan, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and a Shokan would be the hidden uber characters. (I mean c'mon, the skull wall move that Quan Chi did in the intro was SWEET!!)

One fatality that they had in the last game? Same moves as before? I don't get it. Finding and using the real hidden stuff has always been one of the biggest draws in the MK series. Why they'd take the easy road like this is beyond me. Next we'll find out that none of these characters have stories, and beating the game with them doesn't get you an ending for them.

I'm really hoping this guy's full of $hit. But from what he said...I wouldn't be shocked. Yet, as others say, so shall I: I'll believe it when I see it.
