Well, the only reason I like Shujinko is because he's an old wise man. MK needed that kind of character. However he looks pretty dumb sometimes in Konquest especially when he says "I am Shujinko" (pointing his chest with his thumb)... I can't stand it

Anyone else! Shukinko is a rip-off. Not just of other characters, but movies too. I hate him more than anything. Even his voice annoys the crap out of me.

I'd rather have Sektor, Reptile, Kai, Frost or Sonya

He has a cool weapon.. Thats all.

I've grown to hate Shujinko. I'd explain why, but it'll be really long and I don't feel like typing it right now.
So I'll just leave it that I hate Shujinko for numerous reasons.
I would have rather had Kitana, Sareena, Sektor, Quan Chi, Reptile, Reiko, Nitara, Frost, Kung Lao, Shao Kahn...just about ANYONE besides Shujinko.

I like him simply because you can freeze someone, and then chuck the spear at them. That is brilliant~
Otherwise his moves suck, his weapon sucks... his styles seem a lot more useless now than when Kung Lao had them.

I would choose Shujinko, because he is original, and a fresh idea. Not to mention he is a "friendly user" fighter for Konquest.

I find him depressing. a kid who watsed his whole life being decived by someone/thing. and if raidens ending is true then ithat just seems like a terrible part of the MK Storyline. like i said before MKD is realy the story of shujinko & onaga. let onaga die here and let shujinko go away then.

It sounds like your assuming everyone likes him.
I pretty much hate him, I can't stand his look and his styles (apart from his weapon style) his story bugs me too, he brung Onaga back, who is just about my worst MK Boss ever (bring back Kahn )

he wasted his whole life only to be killed by Raiden(i hope that happens). the guy went into a pool and it took years of his life, he wastes more years training with Nightwolf to remove the evil in his soul only to put it back in the day he finished his training, then he wastes even more sitting in a cell awaiting a trial for breaking curfew. i doubt the Nightwolf part is gonna be canon but he still wasted a lot of his life just to release Onaga again.

I kinda like Shujinko. He's story has depth, altough giving him the ability to
copy anything, even specials scared me for the first time. The real ques-
tion here is why does Shujinko suck? Becouse he is a ripoff of the traditi-
onal kung fu movies wise old man? I have no problem with that, asuming
that MK has a bloody kung-fu storyline. Is his past so bad? Being decei-
ved thoughout his whole life is quite a motivating feature for a character.
I hope he makes it through, even if not playable.
How could be Shujinko more acceptable? First, he should have a style for
his own (Pak Mei-White Eyebrow) and the second would be copying one
of his opponents styles. Not all specials could be used against their origi-
nal owner (only mystical, but weapon and -anything else that contains ma-
terial components, like the spear move, mileena sai throw- other special
moves would be denied from Shujinko) and some specials for his own.
Oh, and an original turn of events, what would make his storyline more
interesting: but if he is meant to die, than that would also suit him well,
giving him the ending that he deserves-getting it straighted up against
Damashi/Onaga.
He is certainly not the most unoiginal character in the MK world! You have
to admit that...plus his design rocks!

I LOVE SHUJINKO, he is just what mk needed not to mention, a great fighter, online he is all i use and need. I have a 14 hit combo that does 50-60 percent damage... now i dont get it all the time, but its there, also he has some of the best moves in the game, a throw that u can juggle with... ermac's slam kobras dragon punch and sindels foot grab, hes the man. u dont believe me??? fite me on PS2... Crkfiend or MH-DONG

Basically Konquest is about everybody bossing Shujinko around who basically does everything people ask them without questioning... who does that make him wise?
Random Konquest character: "Go fetch this or I'll murder you!"
Shujinko: "At once, Mr. Total Stranger sir."

Nice special moves? There all lifted from other characters so none suit him, what fool decided that he should have sindels foot grab?

Personally I liked Shujinko's primary look, Mantis and his sword. However, my problem was that his voice didn't change from when he was like 14, till he was about 60. What, did his balls drop in prison or something?

Ah, yes, the konquest mode... don't you think that he simply tries to avoid kombat (kinda like living by the taoist philosophy-go with the flow)?
Another thing: don't take everything from Konquest to be true-it is just a variant of the MK history. Things may have happened another way. Therefore Shujinko's life still remains only halfly uncovered. Being a wise old man- wisdom often comes from learning from your own errors-but the bossing around still holds some merit.
Shujinko was a good concept (he's not the only character in fighting games that follow the elder and wise warrior clishe, think about Virtua Fighter and the others) and this type of characters are simply needed in someway in fighting games.
Such a good idea-but Shujinkos character-despite his power-became a lamer version of Paimei's from the old kung-fu films. If Midway ever plans his story to continue, he desperately needs dire modifications!
Ideas:
-Raiden destroys Shujinko for punishment, but in his fury he overlooks the fact, that Shujinko may have survived his blast. The leder warrior now charred goes after the mad god to bring an end of his rage coming from frustration.
-can you imagine a Shujinko with black clothes, and half of his torso is wounded by lightning? Now this would suit him better after his ill-begotten
storyline in MKD.
What Shujinko needs is a style of his own, and more original specials, that does'nt resemble anyones moves. Maybe some defensive specials.
