Will it be like Tekken, where everyone uses one style, but it has different standard combos and moves? Or will it be like classic MK, one hit moves that can be chained together to make combos

Surely like the classic MK, one hit moves that can be chained together to make combos.
From what I've seen, it looks like a custom dial combo based game.

Like MK4 with different punch and kick animations.

The throws now "Klose Kombat" are unblockable but you can escape or reverse them.

I think you can run if you are like a jump distance away. Tap FF like a quick dash.

Not sure if there is a way to break combos, doesn't look like there is.

I liked playing MK4 so this sounds ok to me.

Pretty much more or less like the older MK's, yet a little different because of the newer "custom stringing combos, jabs, kicks and special moves" together. Yet overall plays like 2D(for the most part) you do have the option for 3D(sidestepping) still.

I'm actually happy about no breakers...like oldschool MK

and yeah bleed, you can dash/run toward so no more annoying turlting hehe

I'm pretty sure actual throws have been confirmed as well as klose kombat

Probably like how MK2 played, which kind of sucks. Not that MK2 sucked, it's just that it wasn't deep at all. Every character is the same with special moves being the only thing that make characters "unique."

Each characters fighting style will be different because, Boon said that the Flash will only punch because, he uses his legs for running.

Also in Klose Kombat Catwoman will scratch and Others like Scorpion will do different things.
There's the close combat and then there are special moves that are throws, like scorpion's take down.

I haven't seen any normal throws like we are used to, has anybody else?

Ed describes the Klose Kombat as a replacement to a traditional throw system in this demo

What the hell is the point in having this Klose Kombat feature if the game still features traditional throws ( that probably wont be escapable?) I thought Klose Kombat was going to be neat way to fix throws, but now it seems to be a rather pointless feature

Superman's been shown to have a throw, he throws you up, and slams you into the ground

I believe that's a special move actually. There was an interview as well where they talked about being able to use his 'breath inhale' move that pulls you in and being able to interupt it with the Fly Up, Punch/throw down special.

But it was certainly confirmed that throws are also in the game in addition to Klose Kombat. In regards to why you would include both, i'm not sure but I would think that if you did land 4 hits in KK, it would do more damage.

i hope in the full game you can counter throws (break them before it starts) but i would hope damage wise that 4 hits in KK (the maximum) would do more damage then a completed standard throw.

damage aside, Why use an "interactive throw" the opponent can defend against when I can use standard throw thats unblockable and inescapable? That just makes KK completely useless. I really hope some form of throw escapes make it into this game.

Yea I agree it is a bit weird. If Kombat comes around we may want to ask him as he actually got to play a bit I believe at E3. If anyone on the boards is gonna be at Leipzig, might be something to test out.
because maybe some people like the traditional way better, and it's cool to choose, and have both options available.

also, klose kombat can probably do quite a bit more damage than a throw, if all four hits are landed.

throws are minimally damaging.

also, superman has a freeze inhale to a throw move, but he also has just a throw move.
If the standard throws are special moves, wouldn't they be blockable?

Special throws are inescapable but blockable

KK is [ I think reversable] and escapable but not blockable.

Was just about to say jbthrash said, everyone will have different punches and moves as we see in the demos, so they won't be the same. MK2 was deep enough for it's time and one of the reasons it rocked was because it worked well, everyone had different specials and overall was a great game.

But yeah concerning the KK, Bleed covered it perfectly. You can't "block" the KK but I believe based off the videos if both players try it, KK will cancel out. Either that or like }{0MBAT mentioned in another thread while he played the demo, you can cancel out the KK(assuming the attacker) by hitting block(after you've grabbed your foe) so say you change your mind, you can cancel out of it.

Once in KK, you can't "block" it but you can as Bleed said KOUNTER it, thus it's not pointless or a bad thing. In fact if anything the KK will balance things out as oppose to the previous MK's where throws lead to OTG's, FT's and so much other shit...

It'll work out well.

That doesn't really make the characters different. I'm talking about each characters having different speed, range, power, etc.

But it really does, each character will play different due to their "moves" but the point you're making that can be said about any fighting game with characters having a similar speed except for a game like SSBB as far as movement obviously.

But again, characters like The Flash will obviously be faster then someone like Darkseid or Shao Kahn. It's a nobrainer....

Not true. Street Fighter 2 has many variants, VF characters have different speeds and strength etc. Come on, this is a fact you can't argue.

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying, every fighting game series for the most part will have characters that move at similar speeds due to the engine. But at the same time every character, or some will move different speeds then others. This is in all fighters. Example, most characters in SF 2 move similar speeds except for bigger characters like Sagat or speedy like Vega, Chun etc. Ryu, Akuma, ken are all the same roughly.

Same with MK, with the ninjas yet characters like Kahn, Goro etc move slower....this is normal.

I can go thru every fighting game, but you get the point. You have to understand what I'm saying because it doesn't appear that you do right now.

To say every character in MK vs. DC will be the same is factually not true, I play these games(MK) online often like you do SSBB trust me I know what I'm talking about.

But they're different. Chun Li is faster than Ryu and Ken. Guile is a bit slower than the karate gi guys. They all are different

All the MK characters move at the exact same speed. Only the bosses are different.

See what I'm saying?

btw, I stopped quoting because it got really fucked up along the way lol
