Sub-Zero's Special Moves

In the version I played, Sub has 3 moves.
Ice Blast
Ice Clone
Cold Shoulder.

Being a Sub-Zero fan, I really hope that he has more special moves than what has been seen. Actually I wish that they would add his diagonal freeze maneuver from MK Mythologies as it would probably be another good anti-air defensive attack. Say your opponent tries to jump kick you and bam! flash frozen in mid-air, set up for an uppercut, roundhouse, or any air attack of your choice. It would also be good against people that can levitate in mid air.( namely Sindel). It would even work against Liu Kang's bicycle/flying kicks if executed at the right time. The way I see it, the more moves Sub has, the better.
| MobiusakaBorat Wrote: Sub Zero will NOT have anymore freezes than what we have seen. He becomes way too powerful. In the characters history, he has only had more than 2 freezes on one occasion. Mk3. And in UMK3 they toned him down tenfold because he was THE MOST powerful character by far in MK3. All ppl did in the arcades were Sub v Sub matches. MK team has learned and never repeated this. MK4 he had 2 ...mk5 he had 2...mk6 he will have 2. A slide or the return of the cold shoulder is unlikely, but the only moves possible to be added. Lets be a little more realistic fellas. 6 moves? na I dont think so...as much as I would love it. |
I dunno about that, in my arcades a good kabal player would at many times beat many good players using sub-zero... And in UMK3 a well played ermac would do quite well.. I always sucked with ermac though.
I still say the soultion to balancing sub-zero is not to deminish his move count, but make speical moves have different attributes, make certain ones have a bigger pay off, while not being as safe as others.. this happens to some degree in MK, but if they could expand apon it, it would make the game alot better.
I still say sub-zero will have at a minimum of 4 moves.

Sub Zero Sucked in Umk3, he was only good in mk3. Kabal was also great, but not as good as sub, clone beats top spinner, shower beats top spinner..in general it was easy to hurt kabal for an experienced sub player.
Ground Freeze: They wont give him this I dont think. Yes the animations are there for BRC...thats because its his move now. Its a signiture move for BFC now. If sub had ground free, BRC would be even less unique. Its a design balance thing. (I hope I am wrong tho)
Clone: This is a really really good move. Better than a ground freeze Imo. BRC's puke reduced dmg on combos like crazy and if you try to do a couple pukes in a combo dmg goes down to like 0 percent. I see more use out of catching jumpers/dashers/and nightwolf type moves with the clone than the ground freeze. Btw, wasnt that move exclusive to older sub?
Omega I hope you are right. I see no motive for you to lie tho...

I wouldn't worry about lack of special moves... ?hen we saw kaba's comand list it only showed 3, and now we have seen up to 5 Kabal moves...

Sub-Zero will not be too powerful, with combo breakers in the game and characters like Bo Rai Cho, Scorpion and Hotaru who are all really quick, Sub-Zero looks like a turtle compared to them

I have to disagree with ya. I believe that subby will be one of the most powerful charaters in MKD

Really this shoulnd't be such an issue, they should balance the characters out. I think it would great if they could have some characters easier to use out of the gate, and others that are harder to use, but would be more devastating, it is possible sub could be one of these characters.

Sub-Zero is almost the same as he was in MKDA. Sub-Zero in MKDA was a low tier character, since impalement won't be back he will lose one of his big advantages.
And people talk about how powerful Sub-Zero was in MK3 because he had 3 ice moves...well if they make the other characters stronger it will not be that much of a big deal and btw both Kabal, Nightwolf and Smoke were all as strong as Sub-Zero in MK3...if not stronger.
Subby needs his slide back for sure and with another freeze move if it is well balanced he will be a very good character, not too powerful.
I would give him the ice shower or the ground freeze(a cross of his MK2 low ice and frost freezing moves)

I agree I always thought Kabal was just as strong, totally forgot about cyber smoke in MK3, and yeah he kicked some ass as well.

For now, I'm gonna trust Boon, he has more then enough credability for me to believe him. If the man said every character in Deception that also apperaed in DA would maintain all their DA moves, then I believe him. The game's that people played at GameStar was a demo, and many special moves and fatalities were locked out (so as not to spoil the entire game). Just wait until the 4th, and you'll see that Boon kept his word.

The reason I dont believe what Boon says to be solid is because he has said things that have not happen in the past. Hard to do stuff like the clothes getting damaged ...but it would be pretty easy to copy past moves like the cold shoulder over to mkd
About Sub in mk3...he was the best. Smoke wasnt allowed in most tournies I played in, but even if he was the winners, and most players, were Subs. Kabal and Smoke Ill agree were good though, but NW was not as good as they. Im sorry, I just saw the top players in mk3 all using Sub (i dl tournies also, its was not just my local arcade players)

I can't believe every fighter will have a bunch of specials till I see them.
So far every video we've seen even of the newer version of the game has the same projectiles used over and over.
IMO, if there were more special attacks, people would be using them all, not just the 1 or 2.
There is always the menu with the moves list to check out at any time during a fight.
It'll be a nice surprise if they do end up having a lot of specials, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
I'm going by what I see.
