You got a valid arguement dude. I wanted SU's to be in and if they are, in fact, not, then I guess I'm a little disappointed. Disappointed because Boon pulled a typical Boon move and spoke out of his ass.

I was a little irked about fightnight simply because the MK team danced around questions. Do I want you to answer questions directly and give us all the info? No. But don't sit and play "Matrix" with the fans and answer questions with questions or having every team member give a different response to the same question or say the "the guy who programmed that isn't here"

Hey YingYeung great reply, I agree 100%. Anyways, your problem "Futants" is that he's not laughin at you. He did say in E3 that there were going to be superunlockables, but things change when developing a game. Jade for one was not planned to be playable when they made that statement, also you could easily see a complete different roster than the one that made it to the final build. Things change, but I don't think he thought he should say: "Remember what I said back in May??....about the SUs?....well....there are not any.". When developing a game, many things change; as many things are put into consideration, but only some things become facts....all the others are discarded or saved for future titles..

These kinda things happen, during the development process some things changed and that led them to take the SU's out(or maybe made them visible on the main roster). For example maybe they were going to put Kitana, Sonya and Jax in the game and have Noob-Smoke, Jade and Liu Kang as SUs.....but then something happened and they chose to not put Sonya, Jax and Kitana and instead put Noob-Smoke, Jade and Liu on the select screen; thus no characters were available to be SUs, as the ones planned became actual fighters on the roster.

Months ago some members of this site tried to alert the general MK population to the sheer lack of of attention given to the gameplay in MKD and MK in general. We saw, that as a fighting game, the fighting component should be up to par with others in the genre.

Over time, we now see the Eddy Boon and the MK team thinks differently. That's fine. He loses that fanbase. But in return he picks up little kids who just want a gorefest and tons of characters.

Now you don't even have that. lol WTF do you have then? I was not here for fight night but I am about to read the transcripts and I know I will not be surprised but what I read.

MK was always a joke fighter. I understand that. But now MK is just a joke. You can ask ANYONE who has a brain in between their ears and they'll tell you. They'll expalin it to you. No fighter in history has had this much blatant broken shit in it. Never. It's like it wasn't tested.

But does he care? Does Midway care? No. Cause they're getting paid. Which makes them theink they are putting out quality products.

Many people can't understand that people have different likes. That means maybe I like something you don't, but doesn't mean the game sucks....you just don't like it. I like the game, and I do have a brain in between my ears; however there are people like you that cannot understand others may NOT LIKE YOUR PRECIOUS PERFECT FIGHTING GAMES you compare with MK all the time.If you don't like the game, just don't buy it and stick to the games you do like.

For me, MKD is a great fighting game. And I'm not a kid, not stupid and I do have a brain. It has some flaws, o yes it does. But I have more fun with this game than I ever will with any Tekken or Virtua Fighter. So first of all, learn that people are different, and people may like different things....but that does not make them inferior to you. It is definetly obvious who's the one with no brain over here......

What MK7 will be? lol you do that. I'm not a 12 year old kid any more. I know about this indusrty and know when a fanschise has hit the wall. Seems MK hit the wall after 2 with a slight rebound at UMK3.

I Look past all this secret crap and play the FIGHTING GAME, PUZZLE GAME, and CHESS GAME that's in there. If I just wanted hidden crap, I'd read a fucking Where's Waldo book.

The fighting game aspect is utter garbage. You can't disput this. Have you seen the vids> Have you read the threads? Have you played the game? The glitches in this game are astounding.

The design is laughable.

You can make you character FLY by pressing UF+Wepond chage rapidly. WTF is that shit? inifintes? The easiest inifinites I have EVER seen.

Keep in mind this is 2 week after release. Who knows what else can be found. lol

The chess game deals with fighting so knock that out. lol

As for the puzzle game it's a knock off of a BETTER puzzle game.

EVERY MK game has a flawed fighting engine, yet I (and MANY others) find ways of enjoying actually playing it without bitching that it's not a model of perfection. I learned Midway's testers were on PCP years ago, but it doesn't keep me from having fun with their games.

Ironically, MK2, which is generally hailed as the best of the series, has more glitches/bugs than I've ever seen in ANY game, but I still love it.

The fact that the fighting gameplay and mechanics regarding the gameplay are...I can't even describe it.

Just wrong. Why is it wrong? Take a look at the gameplay threads.

I know every MK has had a flawed engine. With most you were able to fight through it and play a a decent level. Have you played online? have you seen? Have you seen the bo rai inifinite? It's easy enough to do. You telling me you can look past the fact the boon a company overlooked something so obvious and let it stay in?

If you can fun with a broken fighter of this level then you are the NEW MK audience.

Geeze, I'm not happy with Boon or fight night, but enough is enough. We were lied to about secrets. Get over it. If you love MK:D for what it is, good for you. If you don't, trade it in and get Halo 2 or GTA:SA or Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, truely excellent games all. And if you miss MK:D and you've got a Cube on hand, get that version and enjoy the extras. The end.

colguile, I'm sorry, but you have your thoughts on the game like everyone else, so just calm down. I'm not a "new" Mk fan. I've been playing since mk1 in the arcades, and continued to play it since then. I had so many home versions of the game it wasn't funny. Mk6 may have its problems, but you can get around them and have a great time with the game. I just played Mk:DA tonight, and realized that MK:D is so much better. True, things are still broken, but that's alright with me. I can still have fun with the game, and that's what it is about right? Just because it's not the game you wanted it to be doesn't mean you should try making everyone else think that it's a crappy product. So really, just don't play it, or have a good time playing it and enjoy what's there. :)

For the people who feel very strongly about what has gone on from:

withholding guides information
falsehood of features
flawed fighting system
the time wasted creating the game, which seems more like a mod than a stand-alone game
the waste of time from searching for things that weren't there
seemingly insulting the true fans in the interview

should get together, perhaps make a website pledging they will not purchase the next games from the MK franchise until the concerns are met and varified they are met. Or perhaps an apology.

In any case, you guys need to get organized so there aren't a ton of topics about it. I would assist in the organization.

For those who don't feel that way can get back to enjoying the game and don't stop the others trying to accomplish something if they attempt to.

You'll find willing bodies there. As for me: lol like I said before. I just a bit here and there. I've moved on the greener pastures and better fighters.

It's a complete JOKE, if the mods try to pass off this idea of Ed Boon NOT lying about Super Unlockables.


If I read that post correctly...they're not giving any blame to Boon, and letting him off the hook, because "At the time" there were going to be super unlockables, but time constraints changed that? I believe that's what their defense was.


How is that a defense? Midway put a deadline on Ed Boon? I guess that's the first time that has ever happened....right?

the point is, if you don't know for sure, don't say..."yeah...we will have super unlockable characters that you don't see on the select screen."...simply say, I don't know...Ignorance is not an acceptable excuse, Boon lied, that's all there is too it.

I think that MK should break out of midway.
Midway = tight deadlines
tight deadlines = glitchy unfinished games
glitchy unfinished games = everyone crying about it on the forums.

Look at Blizzard they make some of the best games out there. I remember reading about starcraft ghost which was supposed to come out like last year sometime. If that game was under midways supervision it would have been released 2 years ago and the biggest flop of a game ever made.

Why isnt' it out yet? Because the guys at Blizzard want the best game possible. Seriously Ghost will probably be the most polished UNGLITCHY game we've seen on a console platform. They refuse to release any games until it meets their standards of quality. (and even after the release they patch their games constantly)

I think thats the reason Tobias probably left midway. Tao Feng was a pretty cool game Imagine that game would have been like with MK characters. Or what the MK team could have done with that engine.. with a few tweaks to the fighting system.

This is not a shot at the MK team, they must obey their evil Emperor at Midway. I think they needed ALOT more time to polish up Deception. It seems too much like a beta. It's an awesome game, don't get me wrong.. but what alot of you are seeing and complaining / bashing is the fact that it's not a finished product. I hope they release a patch for the Xbox at least... likely not gonna happen tho.

First of all, I can't get mad at them for not spilling the beans on the secrets. They spent all the time making stuff secret to just tell us how to get it? come on now....

When they promise things early on, I don't take some of the stuff to heart.

Things change during development.

For example look at what Boon said at fight night about MK7.

To me this sounds like the game play will be made awesome. Like what the more serious players are asking for. He says the change will be like that of the old games to MKDA.

If that's the case, then MK7 should play with a similar depth and complexity level of the top fighters out now.

That would be a dream come true.

I see something a little different than MKD.

I see things like the elimination of unblockable combos. (They would have block points like in every other 3d fighter)

Throw escapes, but with 1 generic escape animation like in Tekken4. Tekken 5 has awesome escape animations now.

A new combo breaker or reversal system that every fighter uses. (copy and paste) Probably not very will thought out like the one for MKD.

Run, this is an iffy one but maybe....

Not much else from that.

I'm keeping my expectations pretty low as a result of past experience and MK's tendency to be more of a simple fighter that's not very well thought out.


I hope they create an awesome system like what people are asking for. But I seriously doubt it will be as drastic as what he made it sound like.

These comments are just ideas for what he wants to have for the next game, but things are easier said than done. Also things change with time.
