I beleive the elder gods could be the deceptors considering how lax they have been in the past. Rayden has been doing all of the work, with the exception of fujin.

The elder god's have been pretty much pointless.

That is an interesting theory... Im guessing the elder gods will side with whatever side is stronger like they have been doing basically.

Woulnd't surprised me if they went to the side of the dragon king.

I don't know if I like the idea of them being evil or traitors, but I think if they had a vandetta against Raiden or one of the other Earthrealm fights (like Sub-Zero for instance)it would be cool.

Think about it, the original Sub-Zero fought the Elder Gods, maybe they believe strongly in bloodlines carrying all traits? Then you have the Dragon Medallion. Maybe it could have some affect on the Elder Gods? Then there might be jealousy by the Elder Gods for his almost Elder like Kori powers?

Or the elder gods could hold a grudge against Raiden for giving up his elder god status. They could view it as an insult. An insult that cannot be tolerated......

I think the whole perpose of the elder gods is to sit back and watch as the natural order of the things take place. Because the only thing they have done for earthrealm is Mortal Kombat, but really there hasn't been one of those in many years.

I think the elder gods need to get more involved. Now that the dragon king is back, we'll see what happens.

But then again i shouldnt go to far with this, because we have another god in deception, named Ashrah.

It hasn't been confirmed that Ashrah is an Elder God. Just because she has a hat like Raiden's, people wanna think that she is. If all it takes is a big hat, the Pope should be an Elder God. Or maybe even State troopers with those Smokeys they wear. Are those big enough?

I will assume shes an elder god, or a friend of raidens......for now.

If she isnt, i hope they bring back fujin.
People can assume what they want, nothing has been told yet.

lol cpleck, hahahahaha, i think the elder gods might send a spy or a representative which of course won't be raiden nor fujiin, i think there must be some more demi-gods waiting for some more action or maybe as it has been said before they're schemeing sumthing up along with the dragon king, they're probably the bastards behind all this

Someone mentioned that the orignial Sub-Zero fought the elder gods, he didnt fight the elder godsm, he fought the elemental gods, just wanted to clear that up. Anyways from my understanding the Elder Gods are just neutral in everything, I mean they already have absolute power, what care do they have of others.

You know I retract my previous statement-- in Raiden's MK4 ending it does seem like the rewarded Raident to become an elder god because he defended the earth from evil... maybe they are on the side of good.

It would be easier to define their rolls if we knew what they did. What their purpose is and who they are suppose to be gods of. So far, I haven't seen that information.

My theories about the Elder Gods:

1. Once they were extremely powerful, but that war 'thousands of years ago' with the insane Shinnok weakened them. (Shinnok lost his powers, why not them.) They are no longer powerful enough to enforce their rules, but they try to keep it secret. A hint of this is in MK4, in which ONE FORMER Elder God Shinnok was able to endanger them to the point they had to ask for help from Raiden (a lowly weather diety) and his group of MORTALS. (Note: Raiden and Fujin are NOT Elder Gods. Raiden did get promoted to Elder God status at the end of MK4, but gave it up in MKDA.)

2. They are playing the neutral game. They really don't care who wins, so long as it does not endanger themselves directly.

3. Politics causes problems even among the immortals. Some want to help (Ex. Raiden, before he resigned), others are undecided, and a few may even want the bad guys to win. I can just imagine the filibusters (sp?) now. (Note: A filibuster was a technique once used by US politicians to 'kill' a bill or motion. They literally talked it to death.)

4. They are just another set of deceivers in the MK Deception story.

That sounds very possible LadyRaiden. It makes me wonder if that could have any signifigance to the story.

But as far as i have come to know, The Elder Gods don't care. Each realm has it's own diety that protects it. If that diety cannot protect their assigned realm... Oh well.

But the more i think about LadyRaiden's idea...

Thanks! glasses

But your mentioning of the possiblity of each realm having its own protective deity gave me another idea. This one about the possible goddess Ashrah. Could she have been the sworn protector of Edenia or the Vampire's realm? In MKDA, Edenia and the Vampire's homerealm were both freed from Outworld. Like Raiden, could her powers have been lost when her realm was taken over by Outworld? And now with her realm now freed, she has regained them? If Edenian diety, she would most likely be grateful to the thunder god and a possible ally. If she is from the Vampire's realm, a possible enemy.

All good points, but what about an Elder demon Baphomet or something. In raidens ending he stated even the oni propose a threat. The elder demon could be the leader .His concept art is in MK:DA.
I dunno if you would consider him an elder god or not.Or he could be the nether realms God.

Baphomet? I really need to start working on the Krypt again.

Well now i feel humbled! It's a flawless idea... And i didn't think of it.

Don't know. However, so far I see Baphomet (sp?) only as a concept character. There is a very good chance he will never make it into the storyline. If he does, I don't think he would be considered a god, much less an elder god. A demon wanting to be a god, maybe. And if my theory of the Elder Gods being weakened is true, there is a chance that an extremely powerful demon would be stronger then they are. (Insert Evil Laughter)

In regards to the Netherrealm, I believe we could consider this realm an exception to the rule in regards to having dieties. It seems more of a prisonrealm than a true realm. The demons there may be more powerful than you average diety, on their own turf. Once again the question comes up, are demons dieties or dieties demons. Or are they two separate immortal races. We have seen many mortal races in Mortal Kombat: Humans, Shokan, Vampires, etc. How can we say there is only one immortal race?

Crap, now my brain hurts...

Rayden hinted somewhere in MKDA that the Dragon King might be a deadly threat that even the Elder Gods might have to interfere

Will they be able to do anything? They didn't seem to be able to do much when they were directly attacked by Shinnok and his minons in MK4. Raiden, Fujin and a handful of mortals had to save their butts.

AS raiden said, the dragon king might be a threat that even the elder gods might have to interfer, but he never said in which side, a war between the gods might be sweet
