I start this thread because i am sick to death of Midway not releasing finished titles aka the whole Mortal Kombat series. Take a look at MKDA, it's an unfinished version of MKD. I believe that if Midway are gonna release video games solely to the Home console market, they should take the extra time to play test them, as you can't release patches for them. Many features have been left out and the game is full of bugs, one major one that pisses me off is Frost always crashes on my X-Box. Now im a fan of the game and i love the Kontent but i would seriously prefer to have a game i can play throughout, rather than have a game that has been rushed and is incomplete. Now to the point of this thread, all of you the fans, what would you prefer, a game that is tested and that works, or a game that is chock-full of extra Kontent and that is incomplete. I say this because Ed Boon has said before that one major problem with releasing a new title is the amount of Kontent that goes into it. Now let's see if we can have a mature discussion instead of 'Flaming'. Also i am not just singling out Midway, as many game developers release unfinished games, and this thread is similar to another one i have read in the past, but it is not the same.

Hey I agree. If the MK team needs more time to make this game. I will wait. I do not all of the same glitches that were in MKDA. to many to name. But this time they are only programing for two systems. And I will buy the game for both systems. Man if I started nameing off all the things I thought couldbe better about MKDA I would be here 4 ever. But I still play the game every day. Getting back to what you said. I would rather there be KOMPLETION. I still have that little voice in my head screaming....I WANT TEAM FATALITIES. Maybe in the next game. Later DSB

WORD @ PATCHES!!!!!!!!!!

that needs to be standard. i can see some type of gameplay elements slipping by them. but now with harddrives for both ps2 and xbox, they better release patches for glitches.

IMO, no game is perfect (ie, no amount of playtesting will make a game 100% glitch free). But I do agree that more time should be put into kompletion. Still, I liked MK:DA, even with its flaws, yet I found myself wanting the kontent more. More fatalities, stage fatalities, better hidden characters, etc etc. I think that if they can concentrate on the kompletion a little more, and it made the wait a little longer, then I'd be okay with that. But I don't think it would have to be at the EXPENSE of kontent. It doesn't have to be a balancing act if they get all the kontent they want into the game and then delay it for a few months to get all of the glitches out etc.

Of course we all want a "komplete" game. No one wants something that is just thrown together real quick, or abandoned because of time constraint. Im just wondering what you mean by "kontent". If you mean things that were in the krypt, like the images and stuff, then Id be ok with seeing them sacrificed for a better game. I would not like to see characters, stages, and other good aspects ditched, but if it meant for an overall better game, I guess I would be for it.

i agree that most games if not most have bugs and glitches i would just like to see them focus more time on fixing these rather than spend time adding extra game content such as fatalities, stage fatalities etc. Now im not going to sit here and say i don't want them to focus on not putting this stuff in their game, im all for it i can't get enough of that extra stuff, im just saying that they should pay more attention to testing and releasing a finished game. Also when i refer to Kontent, i am refering to stuff like fatalities, characters, stages etc. everything else in the MK world that starts with a 'c' is pronounced with a 'k'. Sorry for the confusion.
I also am a big fan of MKDA.

Ni hao peeps! wink

I see it as this. I you're doing a painting of a landscape, you don't want to have pincil lines to still be visible. If you're going to put the time and effort in doing a fully painted landscape that you're really proud to have displayed, then it's counter productive to either not carry your idea to completion or to let someone pressure you to finish it when it's not complete as it is.

I would think that Midway would understand that since the MK Team still had stuff they wanted to add to the game.

I will say also from working for art directors as a graphic designer, whatever to total concept is going to be is what is expected. Once the concept is chosen, then a budget is allocated to pay for the production time. That concept is the basis of a specific production schedule where an area of the job is to be completed by a certain date.

If there is a strict budget, then anything that the art director may wish to add might not be allowed within the budget. If the project has problems, then certain elements, copy and pages might have to be left out so the job doesn't go over budget. It may not be what was originally intended, but it got ou on budget!

I don't know what the budget for MK:DA was of what MKD has, but I would hope that Midway gives the MK Team some latitude of time to give us fans what we expect of them... with some cool surprises too. wink

Yes i like MetallicA and i agree no amount of playtesting will make a game 100% glitch free, but when u produce a fighting game, characters play a major part, if not the most important part, and u would expect them to be reasonably glitch free, and when a main character such as Frost crashes your game completely and u have to reset, you would think that something should be done about that. The fact that the PS2 and XBox have hard drives and that they are on-line is good because they actually can make patches. Still it will be interesting to seehow MKD turns out, and no matter what, people like me will bitch about, let it be about the amount of fatalities, choice of characters or the amount of glitches.

if there are some problems with MK:Decption, Midway SHOULD make a patch, there's nothing stopping them. it's only logical that they would create patches for console games that use internet capabilities. PC games have been doing this for an eternity, and due to this that sometimes a PC version of one game is better than its PS2, Xbox or Gamecube counterpart. i'm suprised that the first console game to get a patch was Splinter Cell: Pandora Tommorow. Patches should of been part of console gaming the same time as online capabilities

The MK team can take their time on this game. I'd rather have a Komplete version of the game than a rushed version. Duh?

I can wait very long for Deception, if it means it will be a better game.

I feel the that they should take the time to make the games completed. They don't have certain characters, certain secrets( the other path you can't enter) and more likly why they have one fatatlie. Imagine if this is why no one can find the final secret.
