It's not canon as said before but if there was a place for it, it would be MK 2 and MK 3. Although it would kinda matter in terms of which characters will be a part of the story but still, it's only a hypothetical timeline.

i think him saying it takes place between MK2 and 3 is kinda hinting and limiting down who else could be in the game.... but then again like we havent already thought of all these ppl..... but actually i dunno.... now i feel like Baraka and Mileena have less chance of being in the game.... while Kano, Kung Lao, Reptile, Noob Saibot, and hell maybe even some one like Smoke..... oh shit... just hit me.... oh elder gods.... this would be the perfect and only really good time to have... Human Smoke be in the game... but i doubt it.... anyways Smoke nevertheless i kinda think could have a chance... or even Nightwolf.... Shao Kahn maybe??? Raiden??? yeah for sure Raiden....
