i know that we all love mk as it's a breakthrough point in videogame history, but as everything, mk will have to come to an end at some point, what do you think will be the best ending for the series, what will be the story after it and what will happen after that.............

Mario hasn't ended, pong has even ended, Street Fighter hasn't ended, (I could go on and on). It will go on as long as people buy it. With MK:DA selling more than VF4 or SC2, I see the MK francise lasting far into the foreseeable future!

Im not so sure it will last forever. But there shall be an MK7 dammit! LOL

Ever since Liu died in MK:DA, I felt it coming to a slow end. One would have to consider who would want to take over earth, in Deadly Alliance Nitara destroyed the orb so her people pose a threat to earth. Shao Kahn wasn't defeated but weakened in MK2 and 3, and if it was not for Quan and Shang, Kahn could have been still alive. I think the fans will determine when it's over.

Or it could be determined by Midway going bankrupt.

The top two responses are the correct ones.

Since the Mortal Kombat series has been Midways Flag Ship game since its release, I doubt we will be seeing the end any time soon. I am pretty sure they follow the old saying :
If you build it, they will come....
If you build it, they will come....

I don't think Midway going bankrupt would cause MK to go away. Somebody would pick it up, it sells pretty well.
Anyway, to the question, I hope that it never does in my lifetime. I don't think fighting games are going to die in the near future. If anything, online play is going to bring back that arcade-feel, which should be a boost for the genre.
