Rain had awesome special moves smoke had a great storyline and Kabal had awesome fatalities and storyline

I only like Kabal & Rain... I don't really care about smoke b/c well personally I think he was the same as Scorpion he just had a different color and different fatality. However if people likes him then I think they have the right to b/c everyone has their favorites, anyway personally I don't care if he IS or NOT on the game, but I'll play as him anyway

My friend is like a Rain fanatic. He cringed when he saw Rain die twice in MK:A. Everybody does not like them, as you can see from above posts. But I believe people liking these 3 characters has to do with the fact that it's their opinion, and they can form their opinion regardless if the characters suck or not? Or maybe they are just good at using them?

Kabal was the number one character in MK3 because of his combos. He was godly. In UMK3 and Trilogy he was toned down, but he was still pretty high tier. Kabal was a force to be reckoned with, and I'd like to see this again in Deception.
Kabal is also the only fighter in a video game to be kept alive on life support. His features are grotesque, but he's amazing to look at.

Smoke and Rain I cannot really account for. Rain was rather creative in design moveset wise (his outfit sucked cause it was a palette swap) and I would assume Smoke's backstory/physique made him a popular commodity.

I think Kabal has obvious appeal and potential. I suspect he is an ace up the sleeve of the development team and will be unleashed on us all as a huge MKD promotional tool at just the right time. (I class Sektor and Smoke the same way).

I was never into Rain or Smoke. They were basically imitations of the real thing to me in the past. However, that was the past and I am actually excited about the prospect of a new look, probable elemental forkm of Smoke. I know he has a legion of fans and the big-time fans want a Cyborg/Human Ninja appearance. I wouldn't be surprised if they get their wish as an alternate outfit but having said that these could just closely copy other ninjas or cyborgs in the game again.

Look I wouldn't argue a Rain reappearance (besides Konquest) as long as he is unique and given the overhaul similar to how Ermac appears to have been overhauled.

I thought Kabal was ok in terms of moves and gameplay, but I dindt care for Rain or Smoke much. Of them all thought I think Rain has the mostpotential. Im not happy about Smoke bein back coz I dont like him but hey they cant please us all.

Smoke - Great character, massive potential.

Kabal - Its Kabal........Nuff said.

Rain - He has a HUGE fanbase, and i mean HUGE. I like him to, he might return in MKD.

Kabal is one of the best he just kicks ass he was the most fun to play in mk3.Robosmoke has a awesome look to him and is fun to play.Rain didnt care for him much to many ninjas in mkt.

I only like Smoke out of those 3, mainly because back when I was playing MK II, and I fought him, he was insanely hard and awesome. Yep, that's it.

I never really played for a long time as these characters with the exception of Human Smoke because he moves like Scopion. but I really want to see what Smoke and Kabal are going to look like in 3D. As for the Character Rain, He just reminded me of Raiden and Nightwolf and Sub-Zero with his moves being similar. And Since Smoke is comming back give him different moves then Scorpion this time so it won't cheese either Scorpion or Smoke up.

Personal I don't have a favorite because there too many good chacthers, but Kabal, Rain, and Smoke a really didn't like

Smoke: Good story line, but bad moves(copy scorpion) and terriable fatalities

Rain: No good story line, But i do like his lighting strike move, and of course terriable fatalties

Kabal: don't like his character, sorry moves,sorry storyline, sorry LOOK, sorry fatalities, sorry everything, BUT I can't wait to play him in MK:D, Hopefully I can be proven Wrong!

No disrepect to all the Kabal, Rain, and Smoke fans, like I said I'm glad that you can play as them again.

You could have edited you post. I'm glad to see Kabal and Smoke are back though. Kabal was awesome in MK3, and Smoke has one of the best stories out of all of the characters. Rain.... should stay dead, along with Sheeva and Lu Kang. His story was crap, he was an ok fighter though.

You didn't play much UMK3 huh? Kabal and both Smokes(human or cyber) were top tiers. Their moves were awesome. As for the story, well that was only decent........but then again this is a fighting game were moves mostly matter, along with their looks which were kool.

Now Rain is just a cheap character. Started out as a joke character in UMK3, so I never took him seriously when he became playable for home versions of UMK3/MKT.

But Kabal and both Smokes rock. Human Smoke was one of the best male ninjas while Robot Smoke was one of the best Robots.

Kabal - Great character design. Has far to go in the way of decent fatalities, but his moves (for the most part) and storyline were awesome. Also, he was the first of 'the last black dragons', so I can forgive him for that. Plus, he's creepy as hell.

Smoke - my absolute favorite. Respected him ever since he beat my ass in MKII, and his storyline endeared him to me. Now with MKD giving him his own moves and good fatalities (I hope), he will be godlike.

Rain - Uh...er...another ninja based on Prince. Well..."Little Red Corvette" was a good song...

I liked Smoke because of two reasons.
1)He was brutal in MK2.
2)His insane difficulty made him so much fun to play as. He was the state of the art cyborg and the strongest out of the three of them. His story was awesome.

Kabal was just a beast in MK3. I could literaly make my friends cry with his combos.

Rain, I wasn't a big fan of, I don't get what the hell his water ball did besides levitating the opponet into the air. His wicked roundhouse kick was awesome though. Plus he did have potential.

Kabal: When I was really young, I thought Kabal was kreepy, I didn't like him back in MK3. But at this point, I am still playing MKT and Kabal is one of the better fighters in the game. And now I see he has an original look, and the storyline is ok. I can't wait to his looks in MKD!

Rain: There are too many ninjas in MKT, Rain could have been left out. Altough I can fight with him pretty easily. But there already alot of ninjas in MKD, Rain shouldn't return. Not now, not ever. I heard he was created when Boon heard the song "purple rain", that's funny, but I don't want such characters in the game anymore.

Smoke: As a ninja he's just like Scorpion, not really original. I know he fights really different from Scorpion, but still he was some kind of rip off. I liked him better as a cyborg. We now know he actually will return, I hope as cyborg, but it's said he'll return as something else. Just hoping he's gonna be a cool character!

Rain was an experiment. Their is a reason why Rain has some of the most unique special moves. (That Orb is amazing, as is that teleport roundhouse, and the lighting is a good setup too)

The MK team had some new ideas for moves, and when MKT came along they just created another ninja just so they could give him the moves. And if you know hoe to use all 3 correctly you can get an infinity combo. This is also the reason why his story fluctuated from being a Lin Kuei member (as seen in the manuals) and being the Edenian price or whatever.

The same goes for Noob, they had these awesom moves but needed to gove them to somebody, so they made Noob a real characater.

Its not a coinicidence that the two strongest characters in MKT were the two compleatly new (in terms of rebuilt) ones.

This is the reason for Rains fan base, his moves are simply put, spectacular.

Also the final story that was given to him, him being a little boy sent down the river in a basket and then emerging. Then ending up having a relationship with Kitana, including her turning him good. Then the whole thing with his father and Kahn...well, it was never really concreated and left open to interpertation. And following the three basic plot points (father a general for Jarrod that was killed by Kahn, Realationship with Kitana, and Being Edenian) the internet junkies came up with great stories for him. Some which involved Rain and Liu fighting over Kitana. The quickly cooked up story actually ahd massive potential, and the fact that the internet jukies could fill it in also gave him a huge fan base.

As for Kabal, he was compleatly original with some awesom moves and fatalities, and vague story. This is why people like him.\

Smoke mainly because he smoked, which was unique and very cool in 1993. Was the instant "favorite character" of all fans, and it just kind of stayed that way.

i like kabal but hate smoke and sektor too, why on earth has ed boon put them in?

I like this game more over because of this kick ass storylines they had given it, the amazing movies and awesome fatalities are just icing on the cake, for me. MKII was the best game. Kitana was (and still is) my favorite character. Though, we really didn't know a lot about her, 'cept that her parents ruled Outworld (later Edenia) and along came Kahn and killed them and took her as his daughter to proclaim himself Emperor of the land.

Then along came MKIII and no Kitana. Sindel, however, gave Kitana's storyline more depth and uniqueness. Kitana's mother, a lost soul, trying to figure out her place after being resurrected by Shang Tsung and turned evil. I liked the Edenian storyline and wanted to learn more of it. UMKIII & MK4 really did that. With the storylines of Rain, Jade, and Tanya. I hated the fact that Rain was another Ninja and that his moves were just rehashes of other characters moves and effects. Same thing can be said about Ermac & (human) Smoke. But, it's their storylines and their uniqueness that draws in the fans.

Rain is one of my favorite characters and I'd like to see (or even hear a mention of) him and how he's helping out Edenia after learning of his father's role before Edenia was apart of Outworld. As well as Jade. Tanya's coming back, so that's at least something.

Kabal, I was never a fan of, but I like how the creators of the MK series are staying loyal to the fanbase that created them and are honoring the wishes of some people. One of those wishes, is obviously, the return of Smoke. :)

I want all characters that did not have much of a chance back, like rain, kabal ,smoke, sheeva, sektor, and more.

Kabal is an MK God

Smoke is an Awesome character but not as good as Kabal

Rain was ok.
