I myself would enjoy a PC version. I would take that over any console
version any day.

I'd like to see a PC version as well. Street Fighter 4 has been slated for a PC release, and if i'm not mistaken the last SF release on PC would have been SF Zero/Alpha 2.

It would make sense to for a PC release given the huge online communities that online PC gaming seems to generate, which is the main reason I see Capcom making PC port of SF4.

Midway may see that the console market is where the money is and might not see a substantial reward from coding/porting and marketing a PC release.

I would really love a pc version too. Come on Ed, if you plan to follow gears of war at least start by following their footsteps and bring this game to the pc too.

Maybe a few months after the release, depending on if it sells or not.

What makes you think it won't sell? Despite what is said, MK games still sell well, and with the DC universe characters there is going to be a huge amount of new buyers for this game.

Why people don't like fighting games on PC is beyond me. The PC is a great platform for online, and has been for ages. The huge FPS and (MMO)RPG's show that, but for whatever reason fighters haven't been that big, not that there has actually been an online PC fighter till now (unless you count OMF:battlegrounds).

I'd like to see what happens with the SF4 release. If it is big, then it might start a trend for other fighters to be released on PC.

If there is a way it can be released it'd be great, even if it has to be passed on to a third party to do the port (so long as EB gives the final OK). If not, then i'll just have to get a console version (and a console).

Midway stopped producing PC versions of the MK games, after MK4, because with the fall of Arcades, they started loosing a lot of money, or at least not making as much as they used to, and so, they used the safe strategy.

This strategy is mainly:

"Do not spend money producing a PC version, because it will most likely be of low sales, due to the boogie man that is Download."

Because it'd make too much sense to put it on the PC.
I don't like having to buy stupid consoles to play MK when I don't even care for the other 99.9% console games out there - ESPECIALLY when they themselves make a PC port available. It is fucking lame that they don't put their games on PC.
It's not that damn difficult to buy a controller for your PC that resembles a damn PS3 or Xbox controller if you're bitching about using a keyboard. Most people (PC gamers - the ones who will actually buy the fuckin' PC version) already own a damn PC gamepad because of other games such as car racing, football, soccer, other sports games, and eve action games like resident evil 4, etc.
It doesn''t make it a bad idea just because YOU won't buy it for PC.

Let's not forget that DOA is making a game for PC... "DOA Online" - I will definitely buy (if it ever moves beyond TBA). Oh yeah, and I sure as hell will get SFIV for PC. MKvsDC better score HIGH by many reviews before I waste my time and money getting a PS3.

Why don't they work?

And what makes you think I can't download MKDA, MKD, MKSM, and MKA right now from a torrent search engine? I can answer that: ignorance.

They just don't. They just don't work. They just do.not.work. It's the equivalent of playing an FPS on a gameboy color, or an MMORPG on a cellphone. Totally shit. And stupid. And pointless.

Why not on PC? Well, WHY on PC? What advantages could a PC possibly have? Lots of online chatrooms? Yay. It's not going to make online play any less annoyingly laggy and jumpy. It's just catering to a crowd of hard nosed PC loyalists who are too stupid or too tight to buy a videogame console. 'But what if we can't afford one!' Buddy if you can afford the kind of computer capable of running a game like MK vs DC properly and without lag, then you can afford an Xbox360.

It's just ridiculous. Trying to make a fighter like that operate on a PC, and have it be consistantly smooth as silk, then trying to play on a keyboard like a spaz, then oh no, that's too hard, I have to buy a gamepad, except oh no I don't! I can just use my PS3 or Xbox360 controller! Oh wait, if you have the console, why not just buy it for the console instead of being a retard and trying to ice skate uphill? You know? Then you sit there in front of your monitor in an awkward little office chair or something trying to decide whether you should hold the control above the desk or below, holding your arms too close to you or too far out like a zombie either way so that it's difficult to do complicated little commands with your fingers. Or maybe I'll play it on my laptop, sitting on the couch, using my expensive non-PS3, non-Xbox360, third party PC gamepad which was unbelievably hard to find online as a suitable gamepad for a fighting game, while I look at this tiny little monitor like a tool thinking "man I wish this screen was bigger and that the display was better quality so I could see that fucking jab coming, not that it matters because I wouldn't be able to fucking see it coming anyway BECAUSE THIS GAME IS CHOPPY AS SHIT ON MY PC." It's like Microsoft coming out with Microsoft Word for the Xbox 360. Just no. No. NO NO NONONONOZGHAHTgfukga~%@~

No.

I'm sorry for ranting.

I don't think I could have even counted on a retarded kid to make such a stupid statement as that. Your contrast makes no sense at all.

Yeah, you still can't answer WHY NOT PC, that's why you have to try and answer a question with an even more stupid question. Why should the PC have to offer advantages? No one said it would. Nobody here said we can't afford a damn console, SOME OF US DON'T WANT A CONSOLE JUST FOR ONE FUCKING GAME. Not everyone here is a gaming nerd that wants to buy a console and 40 other stupid games to go along with it. Some of us have grown up and are only loyal to a FEW games, MK obviously included, and don't want to dish out money for a console just to play 1-5 games.

Jesus Christ your argument is so childish I can't even think of a way to make you realize your own retarded ignornace. I can't even read all of that garbage without wanting to take my fist and breaking all of your teeth.

It's like I said before, you idiots find reasons why you personally don't want the game for PC. How the fuck is it going to bother you if it comes out on PC? What the hell is your problem with a PC port? Nobody is forcing you to buy the fucking thing, so just shut the fuck up if you don't like the idea. For some of us (people who mainly play games on PC) it's actually a convenient thing to have.

But seriously. No.

This man speaks the truth.

There's a reason why certain genres flourish on the PCs and stagnate on consoles and vice versa. If you're a hardcore PCfag, even the thought of an FPS or an RTS on a console should make you scoff scornfully. Yeah, you can probably buy a USB keyboard/mouse or some shit, but it doesn't solve the inherent underlying problem. Most people won't be happy with the though of buying extra shit on top of a 60$ game. It's like trying to tape crutches to a goddamn wheelchair. Just because it's theoretically possible doesn't mean it should be done. It's the same thing with fightings on PC. It just doesn't work.
Also,piracy,individual PC configuration clusterfuck,etc.
And Capcom is fucking retarded anyway. They've been porting their shit onto PC since the dawn of time for no reason at all. The RE series,Onimusha,Cold Planet,DMC,even the goddamn Megaman. These genres are completely fucking alien to PC gamers,a miniscule portion of gamers actually buys them, and the ports are invariably crap anyway. Why they keep doing it is beyond my comprehension.

Putting a fighting game on a PC just isn't a good idea.

Fighting games require constant hand movement. In order to do such a thing on the computer, you'd have to be a pretty good typer. Most people aren't, and most people don't care to be, either.

If price isn't the issue buy a PS3 because it's a good Blu Ray player with updateable firmware and bluetooth remote. That way you can play the "ONE FUCKING GAME." and watch some good quality video.

On a side note, I'm sick of all the Seppos (what we call yanks here), complaining about the price of a PS3. For fucks sake, I got a 80gb PS3 at the marked up ebay price, shipped to Australia from the US, $40 cheaper than I got a 40gb PS3 at the shops here. Not only was it cheaper (let's keep in mind it was a long way to ship) but it shits all over the 40gb (and we only get a sixaxis in our bundles here).

I don't know why some people are so against a PC port. All it would be is another version for people to buy should they wish. In the end if you don't want it you don't buy it.

It's based on Unreal Engine 3, originally developed for the PC with DirectX10/11. I would assume it wouldn't be too hard for a port.

Riyakou Wrote: Putting a fighting game on a PC just isn't a good idea. Fighting games require constant hand movement. In order to do such a thing on the computer, you'd have to be a pretty good typer. Most people aren't, and most people don't care to be, either.

If I had the option over controller or keyboard i'd take keyboard anyday, I got really used to it back in the MK1/2 days. And now with the xbox360 controller for PC/windows, it gives people a familiar option if they really want a controller on PC.

Just because you don't like playing a particular genre on PC doesn't mean others won't enjoy it. People might not have consoles for a variety of reasons, much the same that everyone doesn't have a 150inch plasma and 7.1 surround AV setup. And for that matter, there are those who have better PC setups than they do AV setups and might prefer to play on their PC.

More than anything i think Midway just don't see a viable return on a PC release, maybe partly due to piracy (although that is prevalent on all platforms), but probably more due to a relatively small user base, despite the amount of PC's there are in use.

Okay, how about this: Ed Boon has publicly stated (In an interview with I believe either mortalkombatonline or TRMK) that it is not financially viable for Midway to continue to release PC versions of Mortal Kombat games due to how terrible the sales always were for Mortal Kombat on the PC, and that there will be no future PC Mortal Kombat releases. Evidently Midway's sales figures show that more people tend to agree with me than you and nobody wants to play MK on a PC anyway, but that's beside the point. The point is that it is literally not worth Midway's time to make the effort, unless they want to do business at a loss. Which they can hardly afford seeing as how they're a flat broke company as it is.

Is Midway's potential bankruptcy good enough reason to quell your screaming mad paroxysm of stupidity? Well, if you want to play a current gen fighting game on a PC to begin with then it probably isn't. Carry on then.

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)

(PS: HAHAHAHAHA YOU'LL NEVER PLAY MORTAL KOMBAT AGAIN UNLESS YOU WASTE MONEY SHELLING OUT FOR A CONSOLE YOU DON'T WANT. I AM HAPPY THAT YOU ARE ANNOYED BY THIS. HAHAHAH. FUCK YOU.)
