This game will be using the unreal engine so it might be possible for Shang to morph this time around.

Nope. I doubt he'll be able to transform in this game.

Why not?He did it in MKSM, so don't say it can't happen because it can.Probably won't but you never know.

It happened in SM because that wasn't a fighting game >_>

All I am saying is,don't say NO yet when boon or no one has stated such a statement or led you on to believe that either.

I doubt it.

they went over shang tsungs special moves in the gamespot article and morphing wasn't mentioned. All I am saying is,don't say NO yet when boon or no one has stated such a statement or led you on to believe that either.
i think it has something to do with the increase in polygons or too much data to properly load or something.

We're speaking from experience + technical knowledge.
Go pick up the game MK: Trilogy, make sure it's the PS2 version. This game only uses 2D sprites. Now, transform with Shang Tsung. ou see how everything freezes for a few seconds? This is because the game must load the sprites, moveset, and damage values for the character he's transforming into. This pause in the action throws off the flow of kombat.
Now, imagine how much longer the load time would be for 3D models.

Just make everyone a ninja and be done with it.
Then we won't even have to pretend there are any individual characters!

I wish it comes back. His morph ability is a signature move (IMO of course) And he was very powerful with the moves as if one knows how to play MK the right way, knowing all the moves of every character as well as fatality, Shang Tsung would be the deadilest character of all, of course you might play as a different character during the level, but sitll, you're playing as Shang Tsung so whomever you morphed into... there's a part of Shang Tsung still inside. (That was creepy for me to say)

No. Remember the lag for Shinnok morphs? In MK4 everyone had the same standard moves too. Now try to imagine that lag X5

MK4 was a programming failure, the ganme was cracked open in the first week and we had a broken .dll file instantly to skip CD swaping. Not to mention the registry.

Highly doubtful. It would be cool, but MKSM proved that it just can't happen effectively. The lag between morphs in that game was beyond irritating. I'd be happy enough if he just had his old moves.

Not to mention he only had THREE morphs in Shaolin Monks...

why was it possible for Shang Tsung to morph with no loading time on the Super NES version of MK2 and it can't be done on those so call super systems?
They should make something like they did on the PS1 version of MKT... Have Shang Tsung be able to morph in a limited number of characters (3 or 4) its better then nothing

Because the SNES used cartridges, not disks. There are no load times for cartridges.

Oh how I miss those little cartridges if anything went wrong with them they weren't useless you just had to bloww on them

Shang Tsung hasn't been able to transform since MK:3(MKSM was a remake of MK2 for the newer systems=Shang Tsung was able to morph)
I likely doubt he will be able to morph in this game
It would still be good for this feature make a comeback

most probably not. It is of course a trademark of Shang Tsung, but I'll doubt the fact if it'll return. As said by multiple persons above, we're gonna see a lot of LAG when it would return. And we don't wanne see that, do we?

Maybe an HDD install on the PS3's hard disk or the 360's would allow the morphs to be easily loaded? nobody is considering that... Capcom did it with Resident Evil Outbreak and Outbreak File2 for the ps2 and it cut loading times between areas from 11-15 seconds, all the way down to 2 seconds give or take.
with the ps3 or 360 hdd, i say its possible.

Believe it or not though, MK4 actually was played competitively at one point and the infinites are far tougher to master then the past few games...
It was also super shitty for PSX and much better for the 64
