Actually, no one will be doing any fatalities in this game.

It is assumed that they will not be doing brutalities either. The only thing that has been confirmed is that they will be doing "finishers", whatever that means.

Or perhaps some sort of acid/lava related death trap?

That would be horribly boring. Somehow I think it would be more creative than this... but then again, look at the so called "fatalities" we had in Armageddon.

Hence why most of the Mortal Kombat fan base are pissed off right now.
Why must a match end with killing someone anyway? For a game that's all about killing your opponent in the most sickest way imaginable, quite a lot of people survived. One of the few that actually got outright killed was Liu Kang. And that in the most unspectacular way. He got his neck broken.
Why isn't it enough to just beat your oppeonent into submission? Knock a handful of teeth out. Twist his limbs. Break his bones. Paralyse him by breaking his spine. etc.

Well, that would work efficiently, but MK fans want something spectacular, something memorable, something fatal. All I'm saying is that if that were to happen, a lot of people will be pissed.

I think everything after MKII-III stopped being memorable. After that the Midway team probably started to think of 100 different possibilities to mutilate your opponent. Which all were lame anyway compared to the first version of the Fatalities.
And you don't need to tear your opponent to shreds to have Finishers that are either memorable or just flatout badass looking.
I'll probably keep reposting that clip of Def Jam's Blazing Finishers in every thread that discusses Finishers.

Here's for example a nice Finisher that I think would fit Sonya nicely. I think it would be a neat idea to incorporate character's signature moves into their Finishers.

Actually, we have moved on from the thread question, and are discussing finishers currently.

So Batman's finisher would be something like this:
Knock the opponent unconscious/into submission. Ties opponent up. Allows police to haul kombatant off to the slammer.
C'mon, rules need to be bent a little bit in this game. No blood, or less blood, Fine. But Batman needs to have a finisher that kills the opponent, or permanently disposes of them.
I feel like the Mortal Kombat franchise has already compromised enough by removing/changing THE signature of the game. What's the big deal if Batman kills in the video game?. Its NOT like it is changing the canon of the movie franchise. If Batman were to kill (as his life is being threatened after all) in the video game, they could do another Batman movie 6 months later and have him refuse to kill. Same thing goes with the comic (assuming the comic is still current or whatever). IMO it would be extremely lame of comic book fans to consider a video game canon.

The Batman fans will cry if they see him have his head ripped off though.

Yo, if anyone's got the movie Fight Club, go watch the Angelface fight scene (and 'reveal' later in the movie.) That's what I'm hoping for in terms of finishers.
