Ok, this has been bugging me for a bit. If Shang stole Kang's soul, wouldn't he be the ultimate fighter? Kang is the MK Champion and VERY powerful (chump). So, in conclusion, wouldn't Shang be the master dude? Able to beat Kung too. He had Lui's soul, possibly Khan's and not to mention hundreds of thousands of other powerful beings and souls. Thoughts?

This reminds me of a DBZ episode. When Ginyu (sp?) absorbs or rather, trades souls with Goku, he is powerful. Yet, he does not have harmony and a passion like Goku. So, he is actually weaker than Goku. Is that similiar to why Shang isn't all he's chopped up to be like kang?

Well that would be an easy question to answer in my opinion:

1) He has thousands of souls, would he be a thousand times more powerfull than his opponents? Would he have the strenght of a thousand worriors?

2) If you wanna go with traditional mk, he could transorm into lui kang more easily now;

3) There is the question of what if shang tsung was killed? Remember lui kangs soul escaped.

4) I dont know where people think he has to get a soul to be able to transform, In mk one he didnt need anyones permission to transfor, he is a powerful sorcerer, and absrobing sould is one of his "to use" functions.

5) He is busy at this point in the story trying to transorm all souls to the undefeatable Dragon king army, most notably of Lie Mai. Lie may could come back as some sort of super soldier.

Well, yes of course. But, Lui Kang is THE most powerful human or mortal. But, when you combine them all, that's hard to say. But, with all those thousands of souls, he is still beaten by Kung Lao. Even with Lui's and Khan's. Beat that wink.

Btw thanks for replying grin

Yeah, Shang should be more powerful than Quan Chi, I mean, when the deadly alliance splits, im sure they'll battle, Shang can steal Quan's soul easy, whats Quan Chi gonna do to him, throw a bunch of skulls at him?

Yeah I know, I say in mortal kombat 7, it will be the return of shang tsung, and he can become the bass, transorm into things youve never seen before, and slap the taste out youre mouth if you even try to fight him. Good idea alpha Q up.

Shang probably just feeds on the souls as a source of power. If they were to completely take over, he wouldn't be himself anymore. He must have some control over them, but for Kangs to escape him, must mean they are probably stored somewhere within his body. If all the souls powers built up within him, I don't think he'd be able to conrtrol them. But, he should be able to tap into their power, enabling him new styles (which is what happened in MKDA) and new powers and more strength.

mabey shang tsung could return in this game as a hidden character, he could have this huge scar on his chest (from kunglao's hat) and his eyes would permenatley stay green with no pupils for good with green energy coming out like smoke. he would have an aura around him with souls coming in and out of his body (like raiden with lightning around him) and he should be able to float like in the original MK.

Shang Tsung's skin would be pale, his hair tied up into a long ponytail, his hat, no shirt, fighting pants, like mk2. so to speak shang tsung would be like a normal fighter now since he has liu kang's soul.. picture what he could do. by the way this is my theory so like dont get so mad, tell me what u think

Well... he technically is... that's what they say... of course u can't put that into game play.

Plus, w/ Liu's soul, Shang is as strong as Quan chi with the new amulet

in umk3 bio says that ermac is formed by the souls of fallen outworld warriors, that could mean that when other outwrld warrior dies his soul could give him more strength. or maybe i just allucinated confused

Shang Tsung shouyld be able to retain Liu's abilities. But despite how much power Shang has I don't see him beating Quan Chi. I mean Chi has been more experienced in the dark arts more

What so pisses me off is that in MKM and MK4 this amulet was extremly important and it was critical that Sub Zero get it back. Quan Chi has it and is still a weak ass clown.

You raise a good point. Quan should be able to tap into the amulets power and use it to enhance his own.

in shinnok's hands
It would be cool to see Shang Tsung’s souls escaping from him, when he is low in health.

Like in the MK movie.

In a Fight, I think it's just a matter of who is faster. Like a quick draw match.

Quan, and shang both have the ability to kill someone in a split second without even touching them.

I think Quan chi would have the advantage with surprise because he can teleport.

Shang tsung can teleport too, but he first has to morph to someone who can, wasting precious seconds.

It all comes down to timing, and stealth for a surprise attack.
