Here's my Rant:

America is in a decline. We are a nation of declining morality, ethics, and common sense. I feel that other nations hate us for 2 reasons:
1) They aren't as rich as America is.
and
2) We involve ourselves in everybody's business. (However, if we just did nothing about this, the world would hate us for not helping less fortunate nations.)

Now, I am a republican, and I do support Bush, but invading Iraq isn't going to get anyone to like us. Though I do see nothing wrong with us geeting rid of Saddam. Though the war for oil is bad.
Businesses are unethical, as demonstrated by Enron, Martha Stewart, Viacom, etc. Also, they outsource to China, which costs Americans their jobs, so they can pay the Chinese a fraction of what they would pay the Americans. This only lines the pockets of the owners, who minimize cost and maximize profit at the cost of American jobs. On guns, yeah, I believe in the fourth amendmant, but we need to keep guns out of the hands of lunatics and children.
Now as for the common sense issue in America, I can sum it up this way: Everything needs to be regulated. Apparently, the American way is "when in doubt, sue". People sue everyone over everything. People sue doctors for every minor thing, people sue McDonald's because they're fat, and people sue the estate of Robert Atkins because eating 12 pounds of bacon for breakfast isn't a good idea.

Also, I can't believe how the court system works. Judges use their power to legislate, and they can only be overridden by a higher judge, or an amendment to the constitution. They are often serving only their own views, instead of doing what the people want.

Also, there is a lack of respects for America, by americans. My dad was born during World War II, a time where most people actually loved their country. Nowadays, it seems that people of hispanic descent love people of their old country, people of Jewish decent love israel, and etc. Nobody seems to remember that America was supposed to be a land where Hispanics, Jews, and etc could come together as people of one nation. People hate the pledge of allegiance because it is a "religious prayer", because it mentions "God" all of one time. Do you think one word is going to crush all civil liberties of atheists and muslims?

And yeah, politicians these days suck. Clinton used his attourney general to block investigations into whitewater and the monica lewinsky scandal. Not a very good role model. Bush, well, though I think he's alright, you kinda knew bombs would be dropping on Iraq as soon as he got into office, not to mention his friendship with the Saudi Royal family, one of the most repressive regimes in the world.
Make no mistake, I am happy to have been born here, in a true land of opportunity. America is a great nation, with great people, and I hope other nations can see past our politicians to the American people.
And on a final note, rest in peace, Ronald Reagan.

I used to be the first person to jump onto the anti-American ban wagon, but that was before I actually spent a lot of time in the US (ignorance is bliss). I lived in the States for about a month last year and discovered most of the people I met were just regular Joe's / Jane's just like me. You can't judge a country by their leader. I don't agree with a lot of the choice’s being made by their current administration but again the regular citizen's don't really have a say in those decisions. To the people that say the United States suck try living in the middle east for a month or two then you have the right to talk about how shitty you think you think it is to live in the US.

now personally i don't have a problem with americans in general, but you are the sort of person that i have a problem with.

you seem to think we are all so bothered about how great america is, and that we pay so much attention to what america does, there is a world outside of america, as far as i'm concerned you're just human beings, what country you come from and how rich your country is means nothing to me, you are the exact same as everyone else in every other country even less fortunate countries, don't act like you're not, you're country is not special, no other country is, thats what annoys other people from other nations most. but that's just your type of arrogant, boastful person, i have no problem with anyone else, irrelevant of the country they live in.

If I came across that way, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to seem boastful, I just meant it might anger people that America spends more that the other G8 countries combined on it's military, while other parts of the world starve. And how CEOs in manufacturing companies build their fortunes on outsorcing to other countries, just so they can pay the workers less. And yes, many Americans are arrogant about the country.

Also, I think it does anger some people that America gets involved in the politics and wars of countries thousands of miles away, for no other reason than greed and politics.

In Latin America, the US sent aid to repressive dictatorships just so American businesses wouldn't be threatened by communism, and our involvement with Israel and the Gulf War and the war probobly didn't endear America to any muslim nations.

He's right, Canadians don't hate Americans. Actualy before Bush was president, there was (and to a lesser extent, still is) support for Canada to become another state. You want our resources, we want your dollar! If Bush is ousted, I wouldn't mind Canada becoming part of the states - it may even help cement over the cracks that are showing in both countries, by combining the best of both worlds...

LOL, i never thought of the draft dodgers! I also never thought that if Canada did become part of the US I might be drafted! I recind my Canada-US merger statement. Your very right, America, as a whole - not every individual, is arrogant. That boycott of French products is ridculous, just another example of the stupidity SOME Americans exhibit evey day of their lives. I remember right after September 11th, Canadians donated TONS of blood to America, people were lining up for ages at blood vans to support. What do the Americans do? Blame Canada for letting the terrorists into America through Canada! Come on, that's pretty unfair, on the news they were interviewing Americans for their views on Canada (right after Sept. 11th,) they were all saying how disgusted they were, and how we are supposed to be allies, how could Canada let us down.

i'm an american. and yes, i happen to be loud, ignorant, dumb, and racist. i laugh at burps, farts, and any other disturbing noise. i believe all cultrues are less than mine. i live off ham burgers and freedom fries while watching monster trucks ram each other in my $10.00 mobile home. my mullet has now grown to a total of 8 inches and my neck is the reddist it has ever been. yehaa.
