We are led by some very mysterious people, but the country itself and the people in itare, for the most part, great. However, when another country thinks of us, they don't think about the people, they think about the peope who lead this country. So considerin that, what direction is America going in? Are we going to get stronger from these events, or are we a major cause for the eventual downfall of society? Also, would you fight for this country or do you believe that it isn't your battle and you'll stay out of it. If a fight did come onto American soil. Thanks guys.

us brits don't have much of a choice, our prime minister does whatever bush tells him to.

putting the whole iraq thing aside, i don't think any courtries that priniples evolve freedom and free speach should be the victim of terrorist attacks.

we should all join together against the common enemy, just not in a way that evolves the death of hundreds of thousands.

First, I think the problem is that corporations run America; they drive the actions of both major parties. Unfortunately most Americans won't believe this for fear of being labeled commies or wackos. I think that's why America is so hated and resented.

Also, if war came to American soil, ie. we were actually invaded by another country, I think I would fight but not in the name of America, not for patriotism; I would fight in defense of my own life and liberty, and that of those I care about.

I love my country if not its leaders....then again our leaders could be worse and who can we blame but ourselves for voting them into office. If we don't like the choices the parties give us there is always that 'fill-in-the-blank' option to place a name of someone else. What good it would do, I have no idea but it is there....if you can find the thing. Funny thing is there is nothing in the US Constitution in regards to political parties. In a sense the very existence of such parties could be considered unconstitutionl since they are attempt of the existing powers to turn our votes to a particular 'leader' of their choice. Then again I'm no lawyer, so I could just be blowing hot air.

As for defending this country, hell yes. I may not be a soldier, but I know how to shoot. May not know much of tactics, but I know how to camp and keep my butt hidden if needed. (No I have not been trained by a local extreme group, just grew up a tomboy in Texas)

America may not be perfect, but its better than some alternatives and the invaded often suffer no matter how 'good' the intentions of the invaders are. This is true no matter the country or the invader.

I too would fight for the same cause. I don't care who runs the goverment, I care about Liberty, and Freedom. I would take arms for the same cause, to protect my freedoms and to protect the people that I love.

America is in decline. As some of you have already said - EVERY empire falls eventualy. Be happy that after u are no longer the most powerful nation you guys will be in somewhat of a good shape. I'm sorry but looking at who you've had for the past few presidences, and who u have to look forward to (at this moment in time) well the future looks bleak for the US. Don't come up here tryin to steal our resources! Oh wait, you're already doin that...

As for Americans and guns it might have something to do with this one line found in what appears to be a rarely read document.....

Article [II.]
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Of course even though I agree with the right to bear arms, I also believe in limitations to this right. i.e. keep guns away from little kids, mentally insane, etc. Then again I live in Texas so almost everyone here seems borderline insane but its legal to carry a concealed handgun with a permit. *sigh*

As for being a tomboy, yes I did play sports (baseball mainly) but I also enjoyed other 'boyish' stuff; went camping with family while growing up and my father taught me how to shoot a rifle and a revolver. Back then there kids were not so well 'protected.' Sheesh! One of my favorite hangouts during lunch in elementary school was the top of the all metal 'monkey bars' with no mind to the brick hard, bare ground underneath. During rainy weather, my favorite indoor sport at school was war-ball. (some may call it dodgeball, but at my school it was more like war and we took no prisoners!)

I dont know anyone with a gun. And as for that us stealing Canadas resources shit, Canada has plenty of it and less people. We're all living on the same continent, we can live together. This is all stupid, I hate politics. I love the country of Canada and its people yet so many of them hate us...I have much respect for hockey yet the SC Finals just seems like a Political War.

This country is hypocritical, just as evil as everyone they try to punish. And I'm not some whiny liberal who blames Bush because he's overzealous about war. I blame our greed and the oversized corporations that feed it.

Amorica.

Hey, why is it called America, when really it's only part of North America... I know it's the "United States of America" and everything... but how does that make you all Americans? Canadians could be technically Americans too. Same goes for Mexicans, Brazilians, etc.

i'd hate to see what would happen if the liberal democrats took charge of britain, they'd never help bush at all, then bush would attack britain for not helping, and kill us all tongue

i'm not bothered who wins the next elections, america or britain, i've always thought all politicians as the same, so rightous and for the people at the start but they'll end up being hated by someone at the end.

as long as they keep our countries a safe place to live in i'm not complaining grin

Well, the Australian Prime Minister (John Howard, I bet the Majority of Americans on the board didn't know his name) is more of an arse kisser to bush than blair. He even allowed George Dubaya intrude in Australian polictics by saying that Oppostion Leader Mark Latham's urge to pull Australian troops out of Iraq by Christmas would be "distatrous" and that it would only "support terrorism". No one that isn't Australian shouldn't force people to change their minds on polictics, especially him.

I just hope the insanity stops.
