I just saw it earlier this evening, and I was completely blown away. It is by far the best movie I have seen in a very long time. The relationship between Ledger and Gyllenhaal was so energetic, brutal, passionate and real. By the end of the movie I was in tears.
The way the cast portrayed the characters made me feel as if I were in the movie with them. As if I was experiencing every bit of the emotional rollercoaster ride as they were.
5 stars, an amazing all american love story. A ground-breaking triumph of a film. I highly suggest it to anyone. Whoever else has seen it I'd like to hear your thoughts, positive and or negative, as long as its respectful and mature.

I kept wanting more, hoping for the best possible outcome in the end, but somewhere in my mind I knew it wasn't going to be how I was hoping, and praying. I waited for so long, just to hear the words "I Love You" come out of Ennis or Jack's mouth. But at the end when Ennis found the his shirt in with Jack's in Jack's old room, I knew that it really was love. And when Ennis said at the end 'Jack, I swear' I realized that was his way of saying 'I love you'. *Cue the water works*

You're into asian bondage and pretended to be a girl in your early days on this site, yet gay cowboys you have a problem with.

I think you know my stance on homosexuality, so I'm not quite sure I know how to deal with the movie. I think it was superbly acted and does pose a very real question about love (all kinds of love) and the choices people in a given society have, as well as expectations and pressures. It was emotional, sure, and I can see why so many people like it (and hate it), but it's just not my type of film in any of the genres it has, from western to romance. I still ultimately prefer my cowboy's to be Clint Eastwood and my romances to be heterosexual. Guess a heterosexual cowboy like me would have a problem with a film like that, eh? For its target audience, I can see how it would be amazing.

You've always viewed cowboys as such, but that does't mean that ALL cowboys were like that. There weren't many cowboys who looked or acted like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, and it's naive to think that every cowboy followed the rugged-tough-guy-deep-voice that's portrayed in movies.
Anyway, I never saw the movie, but my sweety did, and she said that it was one of the best movies she'd ever seen. I'm not fond of cowboy movies in general, but I'd be willing to watch it, perhaps rent it some day.
Yeha I know, but come on man. Eastwood and Wayne are being replaced by gay cowboys? Does nobody else think thats just a little goofy. A bit lame? I thought cowboys were 1 thing that we wouldnt have to a make a gay movie about. And yeah Im perfectly content with my own sexuality. Im not homophobis either I wuv lesbians.

For someone who claim not homophobic, you sure do act like one.
You shouldnt judge a movie without seeing it first. Its like judging the Harry Potter movies as a "Satan" movie but once you saw it, it was a great movie.
Brokeback Mountain got tons of great reviews/score. I would like to see it when i have the time. Also, the movie isnt about "gay cowboys" its about love.
No Im not a homophobe trust me. Live like yall want to live. Its just I think if a movie like this is successful, it could destroy the classic cowboy. To elaborate on what I mean:
The classic cowboy is a guy like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood. Usually an insensitive tough guy. I like watching these kind of movies. I feel a western movie featuring a sensitive homosexual love story can damage the classic cowboy image. If this movie is successful, were as a classic cowboy movie like Open Range isnt (its a great movie by the way very underrated). Moviemakers will start making more sensitive styled movies, and the classic western style will be lost. I find the idea of replacing classic cowboys, like Eastwood, and Wayne with more sensitive cowboys like these guys is a bit laughable. I wouldn't be able to take this movie seriously because its not how charetors in those situtations would act. Does that help clear it up a bit? Im having trouble putting into words what Im trying to say, but I hope you get my message.

Do you have to remind yourself to breathe every day? You must have to for as dense as you are. Maybe you should go and see the movie before you make any uneducated pre-conceived notions about the film. Especially because the two main characters could certainly kick your ass. Do you think their flittering around in pink tutu's or something?! They're tough, rugged, cowboys. And last time I checked Eastwood and John Wayne (rip) haven't made a cowboy movie in decades. It's 2006 and the world's views on a lot of things have changed. Clint Eastwood directed a movie about a chick who boxes. So she must be a lesbian right?! Or maybe he's gay for making a movie about a girl doing something a man does?!
Is it really so hard for you to be open-minded?! It's really not that hard of a concept. It's a beautiful love story, one that many people, gay and straight can relate to. But all in all I pity you for not being capable enough to open yourself up to such an experience. It's your loss.
I saw the movie. Its a chick flick, and not as good as it was touted to be. Have you ever seen Lonesome Dove? The Outlaw Josey Wales, Quigely Down Under? Those are good movies that blow this movie out of the water. Watch them Youll understand what I mean. And trust me I am not against gays. If this movie was a male-female relationship I still wouldnt have liked it.

its a sick ass love story. call me "homophobe" all you want. im perfectly comfortable with my "manhood/sexuality". but being gay is just nasty..*goes and pukes*
the only reason most critics are praising it and its gettin all these "awards" is because they dont wanna offend the gay people. if it would have gotten overlooked, "its because its about gay people". the same thing happens when some black people dont get their way. "because im black". its not a cool thing to say, but its the truth.
people will decide their sexual preferences, and theres nothing we can do about it. just cause someone doesnt agree with gays doesnt mean they are shallow or narrow minded. i dont agree with it at all. does that make me narrow minded? nope. everyone has their beliefs, and thats that. if youre into the gay culture, or are gay, then fine, if youre not, then fine.if you think its a good movie, great, if you dont, then great.
but the bottem line is, the only reason it got as much press as it did, is becasue its about GAY COWBOYS. every time its mentioned on tv, "have you seen that move, brokeback mountain?..you know, the one about the 2 gay cowboys?"
if it was about a man and a woman, no one would give a good god damn about it.
