Maybe my perspective is distorted, but it seems like everyone here fills in a role of some type. From the popular elite to the nameless noobs this place has a level of drama. It's a bit suttle, but it's there.
From what I've observed in my two years here, many are highly prestiged, while the rest are struggling for recognition. Not all, of course. It's apparent that some people could care less what status they have here, and two or three of those users are actually quite popular. There are also the number of notorious users who are either hilariously sarcastic or unbearably annoying. Not going to mention names of course, but I'm sure others will(please don't, by the way).
Finally, there are the authority figures. First off, the mods are lurking around doing the same basic things most teachers would do(minus the whole "teaching" shenanigans). Basically just disciplining the users and keeping order. Some are strict. Some are lenient. All are fair. Then there are the administrators, who are mostly behind the curtains doing their thing, and taking occasional strolls through the boards seeing how everthing is doing.
Now this observation may not be shared for others. For the most part, my time in high school was overall many positive experiences. To many, this place may be the definitive antithesis of high school.
What do you guys think?

Yes! I completely agree. I have felt the same atmosphere, and seen similar "kliqs" that were in my old high school. XD XD XD No matter how much I want to forget, I just get dragged back in!
I totally agree bro... I have actually thought about this a few times, its ironic how everyone here fits the role perfect... i think the only difference is when i was in high school i didnt act much like i do now so in that aspect its different but for the over all effect is right on... now if it had a college feel to it then there wouldnt be no such thing as a nOOb...

Hey wow, and we even have the kid wandering around the halls that you can't quite tell what gender s/he is ;D

Eh, you're dead on. Both there and here I get ignored and forgotten. It's a big bowl of melancholy flakes with a side of toasted boredom bread.

On the best days the board is like college (rare these days).
On an average day it is like high school.
On the bad days it feels like I've been sent back to grammar school and locked in a room with the 2nd graders.

I have to agree with you. It does actually seem that way and it's a little weird. Putting in the way you did and it's understandable.
Both are envirnnments in which we all have to be around everyone else, only here on the forums you seem to see and know more people than you would ever do in high school.

yeah it does feel a bit like high school. portal guards are like teachers who get you in trouble if ya did something stupid. gods are like the priciples and elder gods are like the superedents. noobs are like freshmen cause they dont no what the hell to do here and how to follow the rules. and you got losers like me and popular and the outspoken people. its like high school except my high school is alot smaller then this site. my status here is like mine right know in high school. loser with very little friends but there the best friends on the earth.

I agree Temp, it seems to feel that way around here, well almost at least; if I had to choose between this and high school, I'd rather be here. This place seems to have a much better atmosphere than high school to me.

Well yeah sometimes feels like high school, i dunno what kind of member I am or what kind of guy would I be in this "high school", anyways, Cool Thread.

It's one of them British boarding schools.
I, for one, appreciate that not everyone here is an angsty twit like most of the people I knew in high school were (including me).

LOL I'm with you FrEaK, I have not a clue where I stand as a member. At any rate...I know I'm not hated by EVERYONE..so that's a plus.
As to the thread:
Absolutely SPOT-ON observation Temp. everyone here does fit into a certain "high school" role. The popular guys. The quiet ones, who pretty much keep to themselves unless they have an absolute NEED to comment on something. The unpopular people that get flamed no matter what they do. And then, there are those that fit into neither the POPULAR circle nor the UNPOPULAR circle and are liked by generally everyone.
Nice thread.
yeah.... this forum kind of reminds me of high school!!!
here are the stereotypes:
Bully: only post to make cruel comments to other people(especially to noobs).
Popular guy/girl: Post in almost every "important" thread, and has a lot of friends.
Freshmen: always ask question..... and are confused about somethings about MKO.
Some Freshmen moments are awful!!!
anyway in a lot of ways this can be compared to high school.

I think you nailed it perfectly, but to me, it actually seems more like we're in Emerald City (from "Oz") than a high school
