watched final destination 5 today. it was preety good. had a good ending as well. played some fable lost chapters on x-box. later will watch more buffy. listened to some music on my x-box.

When first started playing MK9, Smoke was my go to guy. After a month or so, I moved onto Sub-Zero. Lost all my data and mained Jax.

Jax is now mastered (as well as Sub-Zero) and I moved on to Sektor & Shang Tsung. Shang is now all mastered except Devotion (along with a few others).

Now with my skills at a much better place, I'll see if I can be amazing with Smoke despite his low-tier status.

Smoke isnt even low tier lol hes like a+ to S..

Even early on in the game, Smoke was considered mid-tier.

Now that they've gotten to explore, they've discovered that Smoke is really, really good.

You cannot zone him, because of his lightning quick teleport and Shake parry

Rushing him down is a chore because of those Smoke escape moves.

He can cancel his teleport punch to keep the pressure on and then escape the next second.

The smoke bomb launched from full screen is a safe high damage combo starter.

He has great pokes as well.

The only thing Smoke lacks is low hitting combo strings. It's the only thing keeping him from being OP.

His mobility is ridiculous and he has an answer for pretty much every playstyle.

I've never paid attention to tier lists, I just play with my favourites. That consists of about 5 characters in MK9; Kenshi, Cyrax, Stryker, Cage and Quan Chi. I wish I could get into to some of the others, but a lot of the characters I used to enjoy playing have lost their appeal for one reason or another.

They took away my favorite mode in Gears 3 right now.

Seriously, "Stay Frosty" was my most favorite mode to play besides "Brothers to the End". THEY NEED TO MAKE IT A PERMANENT PLAYLIST!

I don't really personally either, I think any character can win and do well + if you're not playing characters you actually like, what's the point? There's a lot of people who play characters exclusivley because of tier positioning, there's no passion for their character of choice, kind of disappointing. It's nice to see some tournament players stick with characters they actually like, regardless of tier position.


The only benefit I find from tier discussions is finding out the strengths and weaknesses of a character, how they deal with their opponents, but I take tier lists with a grain of salt as I'm a firm believer in the view that any character can win, no matter what.

As for those that have lost their appeal, you gotta go with who you like, sometimes we just outgrow characters, I outgrew Ermac, a former well liked character, I haven't used him since like...May or June in this game.

I'm getting used to Jade now, I've been training as her by going into the tag battles on expert mode with her as my main and trying to beat both fighters with just herself (and Mileena as my tag partner, since she's normally my main).

The only thing setting Jade back is her lack of low strings, she's literally got one, and if the first hit doesn't connect she wont perform the animations for the rest of the combo (considering the first hit isn't low, the second one is, it's necessary for that 2nd hit to land). Her last buffs have made her *slightly* safer, but I can see why people consider her low tier. It takes a lot of work to get her to pull off combo's half as easily as Kitana or Mileena, with the sisters getting a lot more juggle opportunities and safer to execute combos. I mean even Mileena's Leaping Lunch animation is a lot safer to pull off than some of Jade's basic moves (such as back+1, forward +2, and her Pole Slam special).

She's got some good moves though, if I could get used to her Shadow Flash and not always accidentaly enter the command for the low Razorrang, I'll be a lot better with her.

I've never actually really given Reptile a chance despite him being a favourite of mine in the last generation. Mainly because he looks so terrible. If he looked as he did in Deadly Alliance I'd be all over him.

I'd love to get better as Rain, Ermac, Scorpion, and Reptile, but I'm so used to how quick and accessible Mileena and Kitana are that it's hard completely re-learning a new playstyle. They all function so differently.

I guess I didn't put too much thought into it.

I'm not about tiers either (notice I said "despite"), but I am interested in stepping outside my comfort zone. I'd have never gotten so good with Jax or Shang Tsung if I had stuck with my favorite character period. Sub-Zero.

I wonder if some people think before they act.
