Just fine. Currently, Jaded-Raven is getting tired of people going at him.

In other news, UNdiscovered gave MLP:FiM a shot a few days ago and it is holding his interest. Really suprised me when he said he was giving it a chance.

Could you come up with an example? An opinion of mine which you find ridiculous and maybe tell me why you think it is so?

I have strong opinions and I defend them, because they are formed from what I believe is right. If it turns out I truly am wrong, then I will do some research on the matter and form a new opinion. However, I'm not going to change my opinion just because someone disagrees with it or think it is ridiculous, as you put it. You and everyone else are free to disagree with me, but undermining me due to having a certain opinion about something is something I won't tolerate.

See it like this:
If someone doesn't agree with me being gay, then they are welcome to state that and explain to me why that is. It won't change the fact that I am gay though, nor will it change my opinion about it being right. However, the person who disagrees with it can give me some perspective on why he or she disagrees with it so I will get a better understanding.

But tell me that being gay is wrong and start throwing shit at me because of it and I will respond with the same spite and hatred. Well, either that or I will just ignore those people. Depends on my mood that moment.

I hope that gave you a better understanding of me, my opinions and why I am "stuck up" about them.

Jaded-Raven's Post

I do believe you have a blunt way of saying things. No sugary-coating of your opinion. I don't think it is that bad or offensive. Either the reciever is being overly defensive, or you are being a bit too hard on them. I don't know for sure, as I have never been a reciever of your opinion in your blunt and somewhat harsh manner.

Yes, this I am aware of. I didn't start out like this though, but through my time on this forum and many others, not to mention my overall experience about how people treat eachother on the internet (and in real life for that matter), I've learned that sugar-coating my opinion will have it ignored. Then people won't see it and they won't comment on it, and thus an attempt for a debate on something I would like to discuss just passes by. So I have become blunt when it comes to sharing opinions and I do get harsh when challenged.

That said, I can also see when I get directly mean and sometimes outright nasty at others which usually happens when I get worked up about a discussion or if the other part is trying to provoke me with unnecessary personal attacks. Then I get personal too. that is also why I don't take things that happens on the internet with me into real-life. A heavy debate on here shouldn't be reflected onto my personal life. I try to seperate those two things. If I see that I've had a very negative effect on someone online and I realize it is my own fault, then I try to apologize.

Well, I want to improve since I have noticed many take me and my posts rather negatively on here. I am part of this forum after all. Perhaps this is the mature thing to do.

Of course, if you think it is better to just shit on people here, because shit is all there is, then maybe I should take that into consideration as well?

The characters in Mortal Kombat aren't real people and they don't deserve anything. Saying one character deserves more respect than another character is a very untrue statement. Give credits to the ones who made them and show those people respect instead, because they are the ones who deserve it.

Let me correct myself. Its not a ridiculous opinion, its just that...what is this? What is the point of this post? Fictional characters don't deserve respect? What does that have to do with anything? No I'm not going to point out what's wrong with this because it doesn't need to be pointed out

The tone of the post is just so serious for something so asinine.

And then the way you respond to Killswitch when he says basically the same thing. You're very defensive when it comes to opinions. You act as if someone calling your opinion stupid or trivial is a cardinal sin that must be punished with a wall of text.

Also, the way you have to add snarky comments into every response. Yes I called you stuck up, no please don't shit on people. Lighten up a bit. I know this is a forum and discussion is what makes it fun, but its never fun to argue with you because of how personally you take everything.

I know this looks like I'm attacking you, but you asked for some suggestions and here they are.

With that specific post I wanted to show how unfair it is to start giving out respect to certain characters and not other characters, as it is not the characters' fault whatever bad they have done or good either. I don't see why someone would give Ermac more respect than Smoke when it is the writers' fault what character has done what. So rather show respect (or disrespect for that matter) to them as is deserved. If you don't like a character or dislike a character, then thank/blame the people who created the character.

Does that make sense?

And of course when someone questions my intelligence by calling me stupid or something alike for whatever reason (which are rarely explained to me in the first place), then I wish to prove them wrong, because I'm not stupid. There are areas I do not know about or lack info of, but that does not give anyone the right to question my intelligence. That would be considered a personal attack, because, well, it is. It is an attack on my person to call me stupid. It is an attack on your person if I called you stupid. Right?

I am aware that I carry a snarky attitude as part of my defense when responding to others in here. It is something I am trying to change. I am snarky, I am sarcastic, it is part of my person and who I am, both on here as well as in real-life. I have noticed that instead of focusing on my point of my replies, people tend to focus on that one thing instead, so I am indeed trying to be less like that. It's a process though, as it is a part of me. Luckily in real life, my friends know that I mean nothing personal about it and they know when to poke me on my shoulder and tell me when I am going too far. That is when I take a step back, catches my breath and apologizes for eventually hurting people.

... Which is kinda what I am trying to do as part of all this I am doing now on here, I guess. Do know that I do not take these things personally, but I carry a tune with me that might make it seem like it which is also reflected on the way I response. It is not meant to be taken personally and I apologize if that is how people see it.

First off, three things in a clean, concise list, then to the meat of it.

1.) Shut up
2.) You're an idiot
3.) Shut up

While character motivations/designs/actions are because of the writers/artists/Queen Elizabeth's bloomers, for the purpose of discussion, it's easier and makes more sense to refer to the characters themselves. This applies to any media. You don't watch How I Met Your Mother and say "The writer for Barney Stinson wrote an excellent character, and those lines! Golly gee whillickers!" That'd be inexplicably awkward. Instead you refer to the character directly or the actor since it's an actual face you can put to it. Just like you don't read Peanuts and say "Boy! That Charlie Schulz sure pulled a number when he had Peppermint Patty and Lucy have a sleepover." No, you just talk about what the characters did at the time. That said, there's nothing wrong with crediting something well done or blaming a crappy scenario on whoever was responsible. Raising an argument about character interaction/fashion faux pas/storylines when it just relates to the character in question is pants on head retarded.

You have an opinion, good for you. So does everyone else, but this is the internet and no one cares about yours, so there's no need to be overly defensive about every little thing. Do you really want to know why you think everyone is out to get you when you post something and valiantly shield whichever stance you took? It's because you're an uptight idiot with a smidge of a persecution complex.

Contrary to what it may seem, I'm actually here to help. I even made a little rhyme just for you! The next time someone starts to get your knickers in a twist, just remember to know your role, shut your hole, chill out and smoke a bowl. Of bath salts.

The last bit needs work, but no one's perfect.

The way things break may differ slightly from site to site, but like any forum, UBB code or otherwise, if you open a tag, you need to close it in due order.

<!Quote></!Quote>, <div></div>,

. Each open needs a corresponding close. [In JiminyCroquet's case, he had two <div> beginnings, but only one end.]

The principle is same for every site.

You do that already. I really hope you realized that i knew who you were talking about as soon as you started mentioning about the "bitch" user a few pages back, hope you realize that I knew exactly who you were talking about. You would not be thinking of me being a bitch constantly if you were not taking the internet seriously... You take things WAY to fucking seriously on this site and people attack you about it. As soon as you don't want to be the main attraction anymore, you stop the argument and start saying things to the other person that makes them look like a jackass... No, you take the internet way too seriously... As well as calling people bitches for no reason. You get REALLY mean, not just "I'm just mean at times" no, you can be extremely mean for no reason at all... Oh, well, except when someone apparently is hating on your opinion despite that I've never seen anyone do that... You just make it seem like everyone is out to get you and your opinions. No they're not, you just take things way too personally despite that you sit here and claim that you don't. wink
