Maybe if all of these organizations put money towards research rather than "awareness" we would be getting somewhere. Just saying.

Something in the air? I've been thinking about unwrapping the FIFA '10 I got with the console and never got around to trading in. Haven't owned a FIFA since '96, haven't played since '98. I expect to be overwhelmed.

Not sure what any of these games actually pack in anymore.
That it's even a question is a big turn-off.

I like how when John Cena starts wearing pink, all of the bad guys stop wearing it. CM Punk, Ziggler, Sandow, none of them wear pink anymore

Just because there's "awareness" doesn't mean that all of the support, like cancer walks, are not sending the money in towards researches and they don't need to change the name of anything. They DO send in the money to the researching.

You have to be an idiot to think that they don't. Because if they're not, then my cancer walk I participate on Mother's Day have been lying to me every time I walk then. The one I participate sends the money to the nearest hospital for research and equipment, not just for "awareness."

Funny how one person asks kindly for people to show some sort of support, it brings out the idiot in them... Wow. At least I'm still kind enough to save my tatas and know that the disease is in my family and hopes to put an end to it by any means necessary. I go to bed and this is what I see the next day... *sighs*

I don't like being made aware of things I'm already aware of. I give money to most charities that come calling, but I like to give to those who are less agressive. In particular, I love the Salvation Army way of doing things at Christmas; actually might volunteer as a bellringer this year.

y u shov down throt?

I think it's pretty clear that someone does not want/support cancer without wearing a million pink ribbons. We all know it exists and yes while some organizations may send the money other places such as research and treatments for people who already have it.... there are these things called "Awareness campaigns" which I am not sure if you have heard of them... but they are just that..... AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS.

It's like in high school when the teachers at the start of the days would hand out the ribbons just because it was october and I would say "I'll take one when research shows that a pink ribbon on my shirt can stop cancer".

Funny how one person can post a picture about AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS for people to see and it brings out the idiot in them... Wow. At least I'm still happy enough to post more pictures to give people a good laugh and know that the pictures in my posts have no effect on cancer in the real world. I go to bed and this is what I see the next day... *sigh*

That's it. Icebaby is officially Kyle's mom from South Park.

Awareness is good. I'm glad that campaigns exist. However, by now they're getting incredibly redundant and they really should be asking for donations to RESEARCH, and not AWARENESS. You've made me aware, why should I pay for it. Oh, you want me to donate towards researching a cure? Then yes, here's $20.

Diction can go a long way towards not sounding silly.

If you see it this way, fine, go ahead. Don't support it, go ahead living life the way you want while others feel like living it differently. Got a problem with that, then go bitch about it on Tinychat like you guys normally do.

I don't think research is really gonna do any good either. But anything is better than this awareness stuff. The pink is more of a fashion statement now than anything else.

*Facepalm* How does this:

Icebaby Wrote:
Doubt if anyone actually cares, but tomorrow is October, which is breast cancer awareness month. I'm changing my font to pink for the entire month to show my support in saving my tatas as well as supporting for all the others who have survived or who have lost the battle. I'm also going to see if there are other things to participate for this month, such as walks or runs.

My grandma passed away from it, and a few of my cousins have survived from it. I know that we should support it no matter what and it shouldn't make a difference for one month to be more recognizable than the other eleven months, but still, it would make me a little happier knowing that there are people who supports saving second base.

Save second base people, save second base!

Turn into a debate about how people don't care for the awareness anymore. I ask if anyone is KIND enough to show some support that there are people in this world who are trying to find ways to put an end to something that killed my grandmother, and yes, I am fucking crying when writing this because breast cancer runs in my family. It's ridiculous how someone needs to put down everything when all one person is trying to ask to show some support. You don't want to, find, then you could have ignored rather than saying, "I'm not caring unless I know they're fixing my problem." Your problem is that you have none, you don't go through this as much as we women do. I put myself through the runs and make a different for people to know that my money I donate is going for a good cause. And I know that there are ways to cure cancer, if there are people who are surviving it, then I know there's something going on.

But seriously, I cannot believe most of you guys sound heartless by saying, "this awareness is bugging me." It's not a fashion statement, it's not a joke, it's showing that people are trying to fight a cause, and making it more noticeable for a particular month. We're aware all the time, they have commercials, Facebook groups, advertisement billboards and all those other forums of media. One girl asks for some support, she gets thrown back, "Oh I'm not doing something I'm already aware of." Good for you then, at least you're aware of it but doesn't sound like you're doing anything for it. Put money down to donate it unless it's changed to "research" instead of "awareness?" Selfish. They ARE going towards research and cures... Not just some.

I'll leave it at this.

I wasn't attacking you. Your post after the picture seemed like you being butthurt about the picture so I replied to you. Simple as that. The picture wasn't directed at you, so unless you think everything in this thread revolves around you..... you shouldn't have taken it as an attack.

Not once did I say I don't support ending Breast Cancer. I'm saying that spreading AWARENESS won't do shit because unless someone is a toddler.... they know what it is. RESEARCH on the other hand is something I would donate to if I had the money to do so. It's funny how I don't post anything saying I wouldn't donate to RESEARCH or as a matter of fact I didn't even say I wouldn't donate to awareness campaigns at all. I will live my life knowing that AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS are practically useless. I will live my life knowing that RESEARCH CAMPAIGNS are useful.

Again... no one said the picture was towards you. Unless the thread revolves around you (or if you think it does).... there is no reason to think it was directed at you.

In case you haven't heard.... Men can get breast cancer too. Yes the numbers are a lot less than the number of women who get it but still. And yes... I did read that you put "as much as we women do" but saying that the problem is that we have none is basically saying that men having breast cancer isn't a problem. Or so it was read that way.

Icebaby Wrote:

Yes but look at it this way. BCAM (Breast Cancer Awareness Month)

October 2011 - BCAM makes people who are alive in that year aware.
October 2012 - BCAM makes newborn babies that have no idea what is happening and will not remember this month at all aware of breast cancer.

Now I am not saying that it is bad to make people aware or that this event during this month shouldn't happen, but considering everyone knows it exists people should stop pinning pink ribbons on people and actually do something about stopping the disease.

I am sure Susan G. Komen's funds have gone up greatly since their partnership with the WWE and that is good. Not once did I say it wouldn't be good if we stopped Breast Cancer. I just really hope they don't put that money towards expensive commercial ads and pink ribbons. If they didn't do that they wouldn't need more donations to actually try and find the cure / easier treatment methods.

I never looked at your picture as something to go against me, but I found it a bit insulting to see people writing how they're aware and getting annoyed or won't chip in anything because nothing's happening or they think it's not towards research.

I've been participating in many, MANY walks and runs to support because I am getting tired of hearing that a friend's mother died by it, how I have to remember seeing my grandmother looking all yellow skinned, hardly able to talk, and knowing that the last time I visited her would be my last, and for me to know that death exists in this world. Knowing that my cousins underwent the most painful things in their lives and almost losing their lives along with it. Knowing that it runs through the family and hoping that at least some people would be decent enough to be like, "Go Icebaby for supporting!" or "I'll help support you!" Fine, that's all I ask. This isn't a "aww poor baby Icebaby," speech, it's just I want at least some people to know how much to heart this means to me, and I ask for those to just chip in a little support without going into a speech about how they're finding it annoying as of lately. That really hurt.

It's a touchy subject, I cry when I write this as well because I'm one of those who puts their hearts into everything, and seeing it being shunned down, whether or not that was their intended purpose, to me I felt that way, and I'm really hurt. I don't care if people say. "aww, you butthurt? u mad?" Yeah I am because I just want people to just smile and realize where I'm coming from with this. I know I'm not the only one that had suffered a loved one from dying from breast cancer, but it means a lot to me to help spread the word for a good cause. All I ask is for people to do something decent for this month. If wearing pink or whatever annoys you, then fine, don't wear pink, but at least find a way to support. And if it bothers anyone to chip in a few dollars to an "awareness" group, then go down to a hospital, chip in money, and tell them it's for breast cancer research...

I just took a quick view on Wikipedia about the game and LOL what a fail when it comes to international teams. They excluded nations like Croatia (a Top 10 nation on FIFA rankings) and Serbia (ranked 42nd) from the game, yet they have Northern Ireland (ranked 129th) and Finland (ranked 96th) from Europe. They also have India. India sure is a force in the world of football/soccer (
It might be because over here the rival Pro Evolution Soccer series is more popular, or at least it has been for some time. Not sure about the latest preferences of soccer fans, but still... Tsk, tsk, tsk...

All good now, no more emotional trenwreck but at least know where I'm coming from guys. I signed up for the Color Run just now. I'm going to get pelted by colored dust running a 5k.

My cousin and I are running together and I am very proud of her. She was overweight for a while, but managed to start losing the pounds and feels so much better. When I saw her last time, I hadn't seen her since Christmas of last year, and it was around August when I finally saw her.

Could hardly tell who she was. Anyone know about this event as well or never heard of it?
